[The Great Death]

Chapter 1: [The Great Death]

‘This is where the letter told me to go’ Vylonicaim the dragon thought looking into the mountain range he was called to for a private matter.

Vylonicaim flew through the mountain range at lightning speeds, at the level he was at he could traverse a whole continent in a matter of seconds if he so pleased, if he didn’t use teleportation magic easily. He didn’t know exactly where he was supposed to go so he elected to fly at a slower rate to avoid wrecking the environment.

As he continued to fly he had hoped this wasn’t a trap and what the letter said was real, because it would be an enormous beacon of hope for everyone if it was all true. Even if it was a trap, he was damn near invincible with all his stats in the thousands.

It had truly been an incredible story as to how he got that level of power, through about a thousand years of experience. He himself led countless victories in wars, and now sat comfortably on the very top. He was the ruler of dragons and held control over huge kingdoms vastly spanning the whole continent, even the world. And that was something he intended to get back too once he left this area.

He flew up to the tallest mountain in the area, landing gracefully on it, he then used [All Seeing Dragon’s Eye] to target the entire range of mountains, having it set to detect any forms of life. A lot of wild animals were around, but strangely no fully sapient lifeforms. Which was very odd because of the letter.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Vylonicaim sighed in disappointment and prepared to leave, clearly this had been a waste of time. It was then something came up in the sky. Despite his agility stat being over 5000 and having several speed boosting moves and skills he didn’t see this coming. A blinding light from the sky submerged right into his body.

“Gck!” Vyonicaim held in the pain now in his heart, was he about to have a spontaneous heart attack? Was this the gods doing? It wasn’t anyone he recognized with this method. His heart had a massive beat again. The dragon rapidly checked his HP and saw it was quickly going down, he saw he had a status ailment called [Rayed Heart]. On a closer introspection to himself his heart was literally turning to mush.

Vyonicaim tried to activate all his all powerful healing abilities yet nothing worked, it was then he came to terms with he was likely about to die, and he wouldn’t know who did this. The dragon tried to ignore the lingering worries in his mind, laying down on the ground to conserve all the energy inside him. He sent out a couple of messages using his mind and seeped his energy into the ground, activating his final spell he only intended to use in an absolute emergency. ‘I’ll have to leave it up to someone else to avenge me. To continue what I was doing.’

And then what many people considered to be the greatest Dragon who had ever been born on this land collapsed. The great leader of so many places gone, losing the biggest beacon of stability. Someone’s who life story would take days to tell. He was dead.

I was unsure if I was going to ever try writing anything on Royalroad, I may have read a lot of stories here, but write something myself? But then the community magazine came around again and I decided to at least put in an attempt to partake, something like this should really make me write consistently plus this is completely different from the kinds of stories I normally write. I have the first chapter done beyond this prologue, but beyond that, I'm going to try to beat this challenge.
