In the World of Aedoth each "Gift" gets a rating from F - S in terms of usefulness for each "Gift" seperated into three Classes of "Fighters". Close Range Fighters, Long Range Fighters, While Healing and Buffers are part of the Support Fighters. There are roughly 4 types of powers discovered:
Elemental Type: Pyromancers, Aquamancers, Elecromancers, etc. All elemental manipulations are included in this group, and pure element practictioners are quite rare, they can be any of the Fighters, but tend to be part of the Lang Range Fighters group. Elements Discovered; Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Plasma (Fire-Lightning duality), Magma (Fire-Earth duality). There are more element fusions but the power of them have been greatly reduced placing them in the Misc and Mental types group. It is speculated that there is the element of Light and Darkness as well as Yin and Yang, but there hasn't been a reported case yet.
Physical Type: Fast Regeneration, Speed Increase, Strength Increase, etc. This group is the most ammount of practitioners, with physical enhancements being the most likely types. Usually tend to be Close Range Fighters.
Mental Type: Telekinesis, Telepathy, Illusions, etc. This group is the second most ammount of practitioners, with mental "Gifts" or mental enhancements such as faster thought processes or calculation. Usually Tend to be The Support Group or Long Range Fighters group.

Misc Type: Animal Whisperers, Dual "Gifts" users (Not to be confused with dual elements), Element fusion, etc. The Misc type is the most wide range of powers and a lot of them are mutations of mixes of a misc and another type, such as telekinesis but only able to move feathers, Faster thought process but only when not concentrating, the Dust Element (Wind-Earth duality), Speed increase but only when tired. (Jason technically falls into this catagory as Hypnosis counts as a lesser mutation of Illusion "Gifts" )
Monsters came from animals also getting gifts, however most of them mutated into the monsters they are today from there power, from greatly increased regeneration, to extreme speed, and higher intelligence.
As the intensity of monsters increased many companies began to create hunter associations where they would collect materials from monsters in exchange for cash. The three leading companies, Illyaun Company, Zubath Guild, and Avarin Corporation being the largest, would then make those materials into weapons to fight back more monsters. This cycle ended up with the other companies taking a specific route of trade. Illyaun Company made the Best Weapons with the materials they got, the Zubath guild had the most "Gifted", while Avarin would be the best of both worlds, with a good amount of high grade gifted and good weapons for a great price.
The world is very simular to the one of earth acept that there are islands called "Dungeons" that connect to the main continant through portals called "Gates", but it is entirely possible to ride a boat to the island and fight that way but people tend to not do that because of the monsters in the water, though the scales of most fish monsters make great armor so there are a few boats set up just to farm those.
