Chapter 3: School Daze

The next day at school felt like stepping into a whole new world. As I walked through the crowded hallways, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was seeing everything with fresh eyes, like I had a secret that nobody else knew.

Of course, keeping that secret was easier said than done, especially when my best friend Sarah cornered me by my locker first thing in the morning.

“Hey, Alex, what happened at the science fair yesterday?” she asked, her eyes wide with curiosity. “I heard you passed out or something.”

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to tell her. But then, I figured what the heck. After all, Sarah was my best friend, and if anyone could handle a little magic, it was her.

“Well, it’s kinda hard to explain,” I began, trying to choose my words carefully. “But let’s just say I had a bit of a... magical mishap.”

Sarah’s eyes lit up with excitement, and I knew I had her hooked. “Magic? Like, real magic?”

I nodded, feeling a thrill of excitement coursing through me. “Yeah, it’s crazy, right? I don’t really understand it myself, but it’s like I can do things that shouldn’t be possible.”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Sarah’s grin widened, and I could tell she was already imagining all the possibilities. “That’s amazing, Alex! You have to show me what you can do.”

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether it was a good idea to reveal my powers so soon. But then, I figured what the heck. After all, Sarah was my best friend, and if anyone could handle a little magic, it was her.

“Okay, but you have to promise not to freak out,” I said, feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension.

Sarah nodded eagerly, her eyes shining with anticipation. “I promise.”

With a deep breath, I focused my mind on the locker in front of us, picturing it lifting into the air as if by magic. And to my surprise, it worked.

The locker wobbled for a moment, then slowly began to rise off the ground, hovering in mid-air like a helium balloon. Sarah gasped in amazement, her jaw dropping open in disbelief.

“Holy cow, Alex, that’s amazing!” she exclaimed, her eyes wide with wonder. “How did you do that?”

I shrugged, feeling a surge of pride at my newfound abilities. “I’m not really sure. It’s like I just... know how to do it.”

Sarah grinned, her excitement contagious. “Well, whatever it is, it’s awesome. You’re like a real-life superhero!”

I laughed, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. For the first time since the accident at the science fair, I felt like maybe having magical powers wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

And as I walked to class with Sarah by my side, I couldn’t help but feel like maybe, just maybe, middle school wasn’t so bad either.
