1 | New World New Life

When lights flashed my eyes again, I woke up in a luxurious place.

When I looked at my body, I realized I became a new-born baby.

Around me are a bunch of people in white clothes rushing to somewhere at the back. Probably doctors and nurses.

I tried to look back, then I saw my new mother with rather luxurious clothes and the doctors doing---

---Huh? What are they doing?

They all chant something and suddenly green-ish wind came out of their hands to my mother, is this a fantasy world?

“Das ist seltsam, er weint überhaupt nicht.” (This is strange, he doesn't cry at all) said one of the nurses.

Is that German? I initially thought this was some kind of a late-medieval fantasy world judging from the stereotypical another world troupe but why are they speaking German? What is this place?

And their appearance, they all have black hair with little white streaks with a hint of yellow, kinda looked like a penguin, including my mother.

This is definitely another world.

“But why are they speaking something recognizable? Isn’t this another world?” I had this thought in my mind for a bit but eventually gave up.

I looked at the window, it is really white outside, probably snow.

Then I was taken away by one of the nurses, then carried to the toddler’s bed in another room then left. I really don’t have anything to do at this point so I went to sleep.

Months has passed.

I learned that I was born into the royal family, but as a second child. Again.

Now I have a brother, really don’t know if I could get to talk to him. I have never met him even until now.

My new name is “Alan von Hausen” second prince of Kingdom of Hausen, A mid-sized country in the north of the continent, with tens of countries in the south, varying in size.

This world, I guess it’s probably late renaissance era because of the architecture.

I think I’m currently living in the capital, judging from the size of the city outside, but I can’t be so sure. The city is so stereotypical, it’s a standard walled city setting of another world. But let me tell you, the scenery of the glacial mountains watching the city are absolutely stunning.

And I think I have learned this country language, there is a few differences between here and my old world but the fundamentals are more or less the same. But I’m really surprised to see myself learning fast at something. Before I need to study a lot everyday for abut 1-2 years before actually becoming somewhat proficient, but I somehow understands what the servants are saying after a few months, maybe I have some basics from the previous life?

But whatever, can’t do anything much until I grow a bit more.

A year has passed.

I could walk a little bit now, so I think I could maybe try to go to other places here.

This palace is really big, not the size of the Versailles or the Forbidden City but still big as hell.

I walked to the library, today I’m going to try my understandings of the language.

It’s a big place with a lot of books.

I picked one of the nearest books, looked at the cover. And I was greeted with gibberish text.

What am I thinking? This is another world, obviously they going to have different writings.

I probably couldn’t learn this by myself, so I have to wait for a few years until I have my teacher.

And there is someone walking towards the door here, a boy, walking with his books in his hands.

But when he saw me, looking both surprised and confused, walks to me and says—

“Alan? How did you come here?”

“I just walked from my room to here, what’s the matter?”

“I’m really surprised that you can talk at your age, and you also can walk too”

“Is that so… and what are you doing?”

“I was told by my teacher to get a few books, I need them to study-” then suddenly the door opens while my brother is talking and there’s a young-looking man, probably in his mid-20s. I think this is my brother’s teacher.

“It took a bit longer than usual so I came here to check you, but who’s this?” He said while looking at me the same way my brother looked at me, surprised and confused.

“Teacher Rupert, he really looks like my brother” after my brother said that Mr. Rupert eyes was widened.

“Your brother? Isn’t he like one year old? How is he standing right there?”

“I really don’t know, this is the first time I have met him”

I put some thought it was really abnormal for a toddler to talk and walk.

Then Mr. Rupert turned to me, looking really surprised.

What should I respond? Should I just talk or putting a toddler’s cry act?

I played Head or Tails in my mind and I came into conclusion that I will go with just talking, I’m really bad at acting since forever.

“Hello sir, how are you?” I said with a childish tone.

“Well, it is within a realm of possibility that a child this age could somehow talk.” He muttered to himself.

“I’m fine Your Royal Highness, also it is improper for you to say “sir” to me who is from the house of Marquis like me.” He said to me.

“But he is still but a child, he probably doesn’t know the nobility ranks and etiquette yet. Why did I say it like that” He muttered quietly.

Well, old habits die hard I guess. I’m previously just a citizen after all.

“We have been staying here for too long, let’s get back to class your highness” he said to my brother.

Seeing that, I asked “What’s your name?” to my brother before he left.

He replied “Klein, remember that” then left.

Immediately after that, my babysitter opens the door and rushes to me. Saying “Your highness, why are you here? I have been finding you for the past few hours.” Then she muttered “I will get in trouble if I can’t find you”

Well, I guess I can’t go anywhere other than my area for another few years.

->>o<<-

Well, I really can’t control myself not to go outside of my area.

A few months has passed, and I’m close to 2 years old now.

I usually sneak to Klein’s room to listen to their lesson, the contents are reading, writing, politics, combat, sorcery, typical future ruler lesson stuff. Sometimes they went to do on-field lessons so I followed them to see. And goddamn my brother really exudes the king charisma when he was training his sword.

From listening to them, Klein is almost 7 years old, a 5-year gap between me and him. If my memory serves me correctly, he started his first class at around 3 years old. So yeah, until then I think I’m going to live a life like this.

Also, not long after I met Klein I asked one of my babysitter to teach me how to read. She was surprised and then reluctant at first but she agrees to teach me.

It really didn’t take me that long to be able to read, but I find a bit challenging to learn at first because it is an Abugida type scripts, but eventually I kind of used to it. Fundamentally it is a 1-1 transliteration of whatever you said.

So, after I became literate, I ended up hoarded a bunch of books about basically everything that I found interesting, and tucked all of them somewhere in my room. They really taught me a lot in regards to this world.

I usually wasted as much time as possible when reading something I enjoyed, combined with the fact that all of these books are really huge. I ended up taking 3 weeks for each book.

So, with the first one.

It contains the world countries, climate, races and religions of this region.

I have known that my country situated in the north, having relatively cold climate, and a bunch of countries in the south, but I didn’t know the border is a cesspool of border-gore, Holy Roman Empire level if I’m gonna be honest.

There are a bunch of different races, categorized into greater and lesser races, being the humanoid looking ones are the greater and the animalistic ones are the lesser races, I think I belonged to the “Avesian” race stated from the book as the ruling class of this country.

Actually, I never looked at my face when I was born here, I think there should be a mirror somewhere in my room…

Ah! Here it is.

Well, I’m not sure if I should be surprised at my face or not.

I have a black and white hair, and a few yellow streaks, kind of looked like a penguin like every people I have met in my entire new life. But other than that I looked like the NPC version of my brother.

Then I read about my race, it said “The defining traits of Avesian is wings, hair streaks, and a feather-like hair”

I don’t think I have grown any wings.

Oh, I remembered that penguins don’t have “bird wings”, so that’s probably why.

“And the majority of them follows the Wind, with a minority to the west follows the Water”

Here it is, the religion and magic in this world are essentially the same thing, you have a faith in something, you use the magic of that faith.

That is basically the contents of this book, it’s really limited to this region because my brother keeps every other place in his room.

And because I want to know more about magic in this world, I picked a bunch of religious text of the Wind and tried to read it. It consisted of a bunch of nomadic stuff like Ancestors Remembrance, Animal Sacrifice, Wandering Pilgrimage, etc. but I essentially gained what to imagine when casting Wind Magic (I don’t think I could try it anytime soon)

When studying Magic, I gained an insight. Magic is what you are imagining materialized into reality, so it makes sense that faith is the easiest way to cast a magic, and it amplifies well with how much devoted you are. The downside is you will be a fanatic piece of shit and no one will like you (I have a bias against religious fanatics).

Also, there is an interesting stuff that said “Magic are separated into Voice and Voiceless Incantations, nowadays Voiceless is the norm for personal uses and voice are used for chanting a complex spell that needs coordination between others.” I was disappointed to see that because may I could be the select few that could use the voiceless incantation like every other story— I need to stop being a massive chunnibyou now.

With basic knowledge of STEM related stuff from my previous life, the only thing I’m gonna do that could keep me interrested is studying magic for fun.
