Magnus woke up with a gasp, instinctively reaching for the knife that was lodged in his stomach. Finding nothing except an empty hole in his shirt, he looked around.
His eyes were unbelievably met with a dark damp cave. Numerous stalactites hung from the ceiling, drops of water slowly dripping. Between the stalactite, a few crystals emanate a calming blue glow. Moments later his eyes fell on his knife a few meters away from him a single water puddle lay.
Still holding his formerly bleeding stomach Magnus started laughing. After calming down, looking up at the dark ceiling he said,” Is this the afterlife, very underwhelming if I say so myself.”
Walking slowly to retrieve his knife, he took care to not slip on the wet, rough cave floor. As he came up to the puddle he looked down. His gaunt pale face with the scar from the accident and dirty black hair stared up at him. As he started moving to resume his walking, he caught a glimpse of something else staring up at him. Eight somethings.
Diving away but moving just a hair too late than was necessary a spider the size of his torso fell on his back and he collapsed to the floor forehead first. Laying on the floor, Magnus started thrashing as he felt a stabbing pain in his back. In a fit of clarity, he reached for the knife lying on the floor next to him. As soon as he got it in his hand he started stabbing at his back. Feeling a response the spider fell from his back and backed away, hissing and dragging one of its legs uselessly on the floor. The spider was bleeding its blood a disgusting mix of green and blue.
“It's hurt, this is my chance,” Magnus thought as he lunged for the spider. The spider proving inadequate in close combat, tried to dodge his lunge but failed and got stabbed another time between its head and torso. As Magnus prepared for another exchange, he was pleasantly surprised as the spider collapsed to the floor.
“It’s over, finally,” he sighed with relief and his knees suddenly feeling weak he sat down into the puddle. As he looked at his reflection in the puddle, now colored with the spider’s horrid-smelling blood, he was surprised that the only thing bleeding wasn’t his forehead. His eyes were gushing blood.
With the adrenaline from the battle fading away, he started feeling it. The awful burning in his veins, worst on his back where the spider had bitten him. Cursing, he despaired.
“This is awfully similar to what was happening to me a few minutes ago, alone, cold, and bleeding out on the floor.”
Suddenly Magnus heard a humming and words rushed into his mind.

“There must have been some strong shit in that venom.” Magnus wheezed.
Even through the worsening pain, a new unfamiliar instinct took him over. Almost naturally he thought Status.

Danger Sense – Uncommon – Level 1
Magnus sat in the pool disbelieving. A dull tingling in his head slowly spread to his whole body.
“Must be the [Danger Sense] Skill. Very useful.” he thought sarcastically.
Focusing back on his Status, it didn’t feel complete. He put that issue aside, he had bigger problems right now. Panicking as the tingling and burning started spreading near his heart, he focused on the Stat that sounded the most useful right now – Vitality.
Assigning his Stat Points to his Vitality happened as naturally as opening his Status. Immediately he felt the change. The pain dulled a little and the tingling quieted. With the danger to his life passing, he started feeling profoundly tired. His eyes drooping, he shook himself awake. Standing up the pain flared up and he clutched his chest.
“Seems like the venom still isn’t cleansed completely, but I can’t stay here,” Almost like he was calling for it, his [Danger Sense] started screaming. Unlike the last time it activated, the tingling wasn’t focused inside of him but outside. Stepping slowly and carefully he started walking in the direction which felt was the safest. With his body weakened he couldn’t risk getting ambushed again, so he started scanning the ceiling for more spiders.
After walking for a few minutes, his [Danger Sense] fading, he found a small crevice in the wall of the cave. He stuck his head in to check for any threats. Finding nothing he squeezed inside. Immediately after sitting down, Magnus blacked out from exhaustion.
