A millennium ago, as the world plunged into the destructive flames of war, the calamity happened.
Then Lojia appeared.
And they appeared as well.
Amidst the countless beasts that emerged after the calamity, they stood out the most; they were the most powerful, the most bizzare, and the sole ones who showed signs of extreme intelligence.
Named initially as The Four Great Devils, these formidable beings, though capable of unleashing havoc upon Earth, were not truly malevolent. Their immense power was employed for sustenance rather than ill intentions – well, at least not by all of them.
They were Rudham, the War Monarch.
Galion, the Cataclysm.
Daigus, the Anarchist.
And lastly, the most powerful of them all, Basilisk, the Dormant.
With Rudham's demise at the hands of the great Mariadaishu, only three remain at the time of writing. Nevertheless, in this book, I will thoroughly explore each of the four Elder Beasts, unveiling every minute detail gathered during my forty-plus years of research.
Dariu swiftly flipped through the pages, scanning for the chapter that discussed the Basilisk, the Beast that had been terrorizing his village
Basilisk the Dormant stands out as the most peculiar among the bunch. Possessing the ability to consume entire nations at will, he opts for a unique arrangement. He settles with bargaining with both cities and villages, securing a monthly meal in exchange for sparing the rest, a tradition upheld for a millennium.
Throughout history, numerous attempts to slay the Beast occurred, each concluding in widespread destruction.
By the time of writing, the most recent recorded rampage of Basilisk was in the year 979 in what is known as the great raid of Acrylius. During this event, three Arcadian Lojius formed an unexpected union, rallying a formidable army consisting of hundreds of skilled Lojius and Bellius. Their goal was to slay the Beast and stop him from further terrorising Acrylius City.
The assault led to the demise of two leading Arcadian Lojius and claimed the lives of four hundred warriors within their ranks. Lastly, the battle left the once great city of Acrylius in ruins.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
That marked the final instance when the empire dared to antagonize Basilisk. By the year 1006, the empire shifted its strategy, focusing on preventing Basilisk's livestock from escaping. This approach aimed to halt any potential rampages that could threaten other major cities, including the capital.
"Even three Arcadian Lojius could not stop him..." Remarked Dariu to himself, a tone of shock in his voice.
He always acknowledged Basilisk's power, but not to such an extent. It's believed that an Arcadian Lojius can match the strength of a hundred regular Lojius. After witnessing just a glimpse of Karnella's abilities, he affirmed the truth in that statement—Arcadians indeed stood significantly apart in terms of power.
Three Arcadians should have been more than enough to annihilate any threat. Yet, their efforts proved insufficient, their actions only angered the beast and led to even greater destruction.
Dariu took a deep breath, then shifted his shocked expression into one of determination.
"This changes nothing," he affirmed, "just as no Lojius is truly all-powerful, no beast is truly invincible either."
Indeed, Mariadaishu proved it to be possible in his slaying of Rudham.
So what if he was the greatest Lojius? He was still human, he thought to himself.
A human, like myself, with the only difference being the advantage of having access to a millennium's worth of knowledge right before me. I can do it.
With enough time,
With enough research,
With enough strength,
It's possible!
"You should take a look at this," said Silas with a book in his hands, interrupting Dariu's thoughts.
"What's that?" He inquired.
"Something that you might find useful," he then handed the book to Dariu.
Dariu gazed into the pages of what appeared to be a spellbook, revealing a collection of Lojia spells and their accompanying incantations. The open page focused on the intricacies of Daishi spells.
After some thorough scanning, he stumbled upon a goldmine; a section dedicated to describing a certain method for quickening the process of mastering a Daishi spell, something that he had been struggling with for some time.
"Silas, this is incredible!" he exclaimed, lifting his gaze to find that Silas had already vanished.
Dariu immersed himself into the intricacies of the technique, thoroughly studying its nuances. The Daishi spells not only proved to be the easiest advanced spells to master but also stood out as indispensable in direct combat. Consequently, mastering them was deemed essential for every Lojius, following proficiency in the four basic spells. Hence, Dariu had to master them as soon as he could if he wanted to survive within the hell that is Arcadia, and he just found out a way to do so.
After an entire night at the library, it was time for the pair to head back to their dorms as dusk settled in.
"Why did you show me that book?" Asked Dariu as he strolled along Silas on their way back.
"Do not misunderstand; I did it only because another alliance with you might prove to be useful later on, and you won't make it here if you don't at least master Kudaishi."
"What's that? Are you perhaps befriending the dead, Silas?" Trolled Dariu with a grin on his face.
Silas gazed into Dariu with a look of frustration, which was encountered by a continuous grin.
"I will choose to ignore that."
Having reached the entrance to the dorms, Dariu pushed the door open.
Surprisingly, the most unexpected of occurrences awaited them; a large group of students stood in the entrance chamber, their eyes fixated on the doors as if keeping watch.
The pair froze in place. Their visit to the library was meant to be a secret to avoid any unwanted attention. Yet, here they were, met by the looks of seven unexpected eyewitnesses.
"They are back!" Shouted one of the students in an alerting tone.
"Moro Tarlus Nara," one of them started incantating.
"What are you doing?!" Questioned Silas.
"Kudaishi!" The student concluded his incantation, unleashing a Kudaishi beam targeting Silas.
Dariu swiftly pushed Silas aside and leaped in the opposite direction. The beam passed through the space they occupied, then moved to the right to Dariu, cutting through the door in the process. In the nick of time, Dariu crouched, and the sliced half of the door leaned outward before collapsing. Dariu rolled to safety, narrowly avoiding it.
"Why are you attacking us?!" Questioned Silas once more.
"Don't play the fool! You will pay for what you did," answered one of them.
"Moro Tarlus Nara," incantatied another.
"Silas! We must run!" Yelled Dariu.
"Yadaishi," he concluded, conjuring multiple projectiles floating around him.
Facing multiple Nayum adepts, Dariu and Silas stood in utter confusion and defenseless, having exhausted their entire stock of Nymph stones.
