Arriving at the large entrance gate to this wall took her a few minutes of walking. Nothing special happens as she gets through here.
In front of the gate are some people wearing some elaborate and shining steel armor. They also bear some sort of symbol on their coat, which seems to depict leaves and a globe.
No one seems to be visiting at this hour so the guards manage to track her quick enough with their gaze. She strode forward, trying to ignore their pointed stare.
She would have initiated a conversation, but it is pretty impossible for her. She is someone who can't really talk that casually to a stranger, so it'll be a big hurdle for her to do it.
As she tries to stop and take a moment to gather her courage to talk, one of the guards just shrugs at her before letting her in. Curious but grateful, she nodded politely at him before taking hesitant steps towards the gate.
The is open so she can see the paved roads within. Unlike the one leading to this city which seems to be just a straight dirt road, the inside of the city seems to have been paved in cobblestone. The houses that lined up on the distance are neat and she can see some people walking on the streets without caring for her.
Before walking past them, she tries to take a glance at them and activate her appraisal, specifying what she wanted to know from that man. Her curiosity has been satisfied when she read the prompt that appears after her use of skill.
'So he is used to otherworlders taking refuge on this city?'
In curiosity, she pointed her stare on the ground and broadened her target to the whole city. A new prompt appears in her vision.

[Summary]
A city state from the southwest of Zeplis Continent. This city is formerly part of the neighboring country Prissa, and have been independent after stating their desire to shelter every otherworld refugees.
...
There are many more below but she decided to skim through it.
'Sheltering otherworlders? What is their reason for that?'
She tries to peer into the description until finally, her eyes set to a certain passage.
Based on the specific explanation, it seems like this city sympathizes with the otherworlders and doesn't want them to deal with this world's problems. They are in a stance that they shouldn't involve otherworlders on this world's issues and they should be the one to do it.
After being rejected, it seems like they have decided to cut ties and gave all otherworlders shelter who didn't want to fight and just want to either go back to their world or live peacefully.
This has been a tradition for three generations, so it seems like this city is already experienced enough that they can discern whether someone is an otherworlder or not.
"So that's why they didn't stop me. Though it also implies something..."
She felt a bit nervous about the implications. This world seems to have a habit of summoning people from another world.
'Does that mean that there are many people from my world stuck here?'
She decided to stop thinking about it and look around.
'Well, I can't do anything about it. For now I have to find a place to stay and then think about more things later on.'
She walks on the streets, deep in her thoughts. The people on the surroundings only take a glance at her before shrugging and then continuing on their walk.
----------------------------------------
"I can't read anything..."
Her eyes are squinted on the weird logographic letter on the hanging sign. She can't make heads or tails about it.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Though when she tries to take notice of it, she can understand the people from her surroundings. Though when she peers at them carefully, she can see that the way their mouth moves is different from the one she is hearing.
'Translation... there is an automatic translator in this world?'
She felt amazed and also disappointed. Amaze because of this very convenient fact and disappointed because it didn't include understanding their written language.
She didn't want to initiate a conversation but it seems like she is being force by the fate itself. So with a tired sigh, she takes the courage and spoke to the first person on her vicinity.
"Hello.... Can I trouble you for something?"
The one she ask for is a blonde haired girl who seems to have been moving idly on the streets. The girl turns to her in a slight gasp before staring at her for a bit.
"... Oh. An otherworlder. What can I do for you?"
"You see, I am looking for a place to stay but I don't know any place like that in here."
She can't really discern it. There are no drawing signs that indicates it, and most of the houses here looks like residential houses. As for the larger buildings, they look like mansions and she felt very hesitant barging inside on it.
The blonde girl giggled. "I see. You must be new to this world then." She presented her hand. "Name's Karin. What's yours?"
"... Motoharu Kyoko."
Not seeing any benefits to lying about it, she decided to tell her full name.
"The first one is the surname and the last one's your given, isn't it?" With her nod, the girl smiled. "Great. So your looking for an inn? Then why don't you stay with us?"
She would have nodded but she quickly manage to stop herself. Taking a glance at her, she activates her appraisal to discern her motives. Then she heaves a sigh after seeing that she is just being genuinely kind.
"Okay." She decided to take her offer and come along with her.
It might look rude taking her offer without politely refusing, but she is currently penniless and she have just thought of that after the fact that she have entered this city. She didn't want to go outside and look for some convenient rocks and take several minutes to create some luxuries for her expenses. She is nervous of the guards and they might get annoyed of her if she just go in and out as she pleases.
Karin takes her hand, not noticing her flinching at the sudden contact as she is being led on the streets, passing through the many crowds.
----------------------------------------
"Oh. So it is an inn."
Arriving at the large house and seeing the many people sitting on the group of tables and chairs on the side with the windows facing them, she can see that it is indeed the place she is looking for.
As she takes the time just looking around in wonder, Karin came back along with someone who resembles her a lot if she is more older.
"Welcome. Are you the new otherworlder?"
"Yes. I am Motoharu Kyoko." She bowed in greeting.
"How polite. My name is Irene. It is my pleasure to meet you."
After that greeting she immediately led her to the upstairs. After walking for a bit, they quickly arrive in front of a door that is a bit on the edge of this building.
"You can use this room. Here is the key for it."
She timidly accepts the key, feeling a bit confused at their great hospitality. She can't really help but blurt out her thoughts.
"Uhmmm... are you sure about this?"
"... Right. Your still new to this world so you don't know but the Mayoral Princess has stated that every establishments must help out new otherworlder refugees whenever we can. They will be the one to foot the bill."
"Oh. It's mandatory?"
"It's not really mandatory, but we felt obligated for her wishes so everyone on this city are just doing it. It's also bad manners to ripoff otherworlders because they don't know how our world truly work."
She slowly nodded after her question has been answered. She still felt a bit curious about it, but she decided to stop asking about it for now.
"Okay. Thank you for letting me in."
"It's no problem. Though I suggest going to the Princess Hall if you want some support from this city."
"Princess Hall?"
Irene nodded. "The Princess Hall is both the City Hall and the national building for our ruler. It is where most otherworlders who wanted support goes."
"Then. Why don't we go there right now?"
Karin on the side scratches her head while Irene just smiles. "The Mayoral Princess has been on an expedition along with some of her forces. So the City Hall is currently closed for the public."
"Wait. Then who is taking care of this city?" She can't help but ask that in worry.
"Of course, it's the trusted aide of the Mayoral Princess."
She wanted to ask about it but she felt that it is fine for now. She nodded in relief before continuing.
"So, when can I visit the Princess Hall?"
"They'll announce it later."
"How can I know about it?"
"You can go to the central plaza. They always hold an announcement there."
"Are there any advance notice or something?"
"Of course." Her smile strained for a bit. "Though I think you can't read any of our language, isn't it?"
Hearing that, she felt a bit depressed on that fact.
"Don't worry about it. I heard that most otherworlders are pretty smart than the average people, so I think you'll learn our language quickly!"
"Thanks."
After that, the owner and her daughter let her be for now as they go downstairs, likely going to serve some of their customers. It seems like they are also serving food on this place, which make it more like a tavern that acts as an inn.
Going inside her room, she can see that it is small enough that it can only let a single or two person. There is a single bed on the side besides the window, a drawer, and a small chest on the side. There is also a wooden table just a few steps away from the door with a lantern sitting above it.
She walks to the bed and sits on it. The bag that she has been carrying has been put besides the bed as she thinks about her next course of action.
"So this city accepts otherworlders as refugees. It also seems like this city will support the otherworlders, though I don't know what kind of support it will be."
She lies on the bed and turn her gaze on the ceiling above, just staring blankly at it.
"The Cosmic Orb has taken me here, which means this place is safe. Though I think I should be a bit more cautious." She mutters.
After that, she stands up again.
"I am not that tired so maybe I should go down and get something to eat. They did say that otherworlders have preferential treatment in this city. I think it is fine to use their kindness for a bit."
It might sound very weird as a Japanese, but she can feel the rumbling on her stomach. She also have nothing else to do so after eating, she will go outside and just look around.
It will be pretty boring just staying on the room given to her without doing anything. There is no internet here and no device that will let her pass the time.
She goes downstairs to take some food.
