Haze was just a random college student returning home when his life stoped being the normal boring kind he lived his whole life. Being abducted through inconceivable means was just the begining, kill or be killed will be his reality from now on, and his rational thinking will be more than useful.  Through hardship and tourments, he adapts to survive. His choices are not always the right ones, but as long as he does right to himself, he will not mind.
