The urge to survive has always been the biggest cause of evolution.. So was the case now.. It was engraved in humans, the true fear of death approaching them and thus the need for evolution was forseen.

All human organs and hormonal changes yearned towards refinement fusing with the new atmosphere. But as always they are many who failed to adapt.

Researchers came up with an indefinite understanding of these unfamiliar purple substance named amethyst and the red substance named claret that was now present in the atmosphere.

This was that amethyst and cleret are interrelated to each other, here the presence of amethyst worked to stimulate the cleret into active form where it would further produce amethyst at a varying amounts until a certain limit had reached.The presence of cleret and amethyst worked together to produce extreme newfound changes in the human body.

The entering of both these substances in the human body had lead to some unforseen mutations...mutation that would have been considered outrageous and  made no sense in the past. The alterations caused by these substances had lead to a large scale mutation of the human body. Out of these transformed humans some went out of control and turned into somewhat similar monsters of the initial wave but for the some who had these mutations taken place gradually, they were able to control it as they willed to a certain extend.

As such the strength they could obtain was considered as a big gamble. A gamble with the risk of loosing their humanity and turning into one of those monsters but the ones who underwent the mutation without loosing their sanity they would become a greater being capable of protecting the human kind.

These mutations had enabled them to control certain factors that they never could. Like  some could even be able to control elements to many extents using the clerets energy while consuming amethyst to activate it. There where even few exceptions of those who gained powers which were incomprehensible. The mutation varied widely because of some uncertain factors..

The amethyst and cleret cluster's were collected from the atmosphere and condensed later on to stop the unwanted species mutation occuring. They were sent to research labs and prescribed doses were made from these substances after multiple trials which gave a lowered chance of turning Into monsters according to them.The doses provided contain a fixed amount of amethysts and cleret. They kept trying to improve these doses but still the chance of failure could not be called small.

When these substance enters the body, the body accepts these foreign substances and transmits them.The factors that determines the locations to were these substance were transmitted was unspecific and seem to vary from one person to another. Once the substances are gathered and allocated. The amethyst stimulates the cleret into active form(solid red crystal)and they get embedded in organs and start the production of amethyst leading to those changes that lead to those unnatural mutations.

The chances of failure was high was high because most of the time this was not the case. The body could oppose the presence of these substances. Which only lead to those substances taking over the body in retaliation and turning the person into one of those monsters.

The process of gaining control was only possible If they both co-operated and worked together during alteration of the body.Thus a perfect balance was required.

These doses were sent to the army to make more superhuman soldiers out of those who were willing, they even lured desperate civilians with money into participating in this mass life-threatening expirement. If someone turns into a monster, the military was ready to kill mercilessly within seconds and continue to the next person without remorse.

The portals were still appearing but in small sizes and fewer numbers around the world and the only ones capable of dealing with the monsters fast enough were these mutated humans.

These soldiers were being sent inside portals after scout bots called drifter were first sent inside to determine the danger level prior to sending in the soldiers to destroy the core of the portal before it turned red and monsters came pouring out. Till the portal turns red it was not possible for the other side to come to ours and for the soldiers who went inside to come out.This meant it was a one way entrance till then...not only that even the number of mutated soldiers who could go in was limited to the strength of the portal's core then the portal restricted all entry for the next 12 hours or till all of them are already dead.

The top of the list soldiers were called deviants. They were admired as celebrities and given fame, money and respect. Some even stood up to be acknowledged as the symbol of a country's power.
