Chapter 5: Discoveries in God's Space
The strange sensation of teleportation dissipated, and Jack found himself in an unfamiliar location. An infinite sea of white stretched in all directions, featureless and enormous. The earth beneath his feet felt solid, yet there were no obvious signs of walls, ceilings, or horizons. Above, poised impossibly high, a shining sphere of light flooded the room in a warm, soothing radiance.
As Jack's eyes adjusted, he observed twenty different doorways along the walls, each leading to what he imagined were private areas. The shining sphere overhead appeared to be the centre point of this weird realm—a constant, like a sun that wasn't painful to gaze at directly.
One by one, the others appeared around him. Jack felt relieved when he realised they had all made it out safely. The strain in his muscles, left over from the pandemonium of their recent expedition, gradually eased.
Jie's calm voice sliced through the air as he approached the gathering. "Welcome to God's space, everyone. Okay, first things first. Normally, mending here costs points, but as a welcome present, I'll pay for everyone's first session." A soothing light engulfed each of them, and Jack felt the aches and pains of the endeavour subside. He flexed his arm, surprised by the lack of bruises and cuts.
"Pretty handy, huh?" Jie grinned. "Anything you bring with you on a mission returns with you, but the wounds? Even if you're on the verge of death, we can fix anything here—usually for a fee."
Jie turned to address the group formally. "Okay, everyone. Tomorrow morning, we will have our exchange session. We'll first meet as a team to plan our next steps. Get ready because this is where you will pick how to spend the points you earned during the quest." Jack nodded, his thoughts already racing with ideas. The exchange system provided him with the opportunity to improve himself and attain abilities that he had only previously imagined.
As Jie said, Jack's gaze briefly shifted to the senior player. Just then, a stunningly attractive woman emerged from one of the rooms. Her classical features, silky skin, and exquisite figure were difficult to miss as she walked with calm elegance towards Jie. Without hesitation, she embraced him and rested her head on his shoulder. Jie responded calmly with a nod.
Jack felt this was the classical beauty I had read about. She is the reason why our guide and Jie's memories are marching together, and his resolve to live grows stronger.
Zheng, who had been standing nearby, seems to have found friendship. A young woman, no older than 16 or 17, stood behind him—Jack couldn't help but note she appeared to have just come back to life and had independence, similar to what Jie had said earlier about human creations. The girl appeared to recognise Zheng, her gaze tracking his every movement.
In his imagination, Jack recognised the girl as the famed loli, who created the demon's team captain. Also the cause for Zhang Zha's desire to live.
Jack's heart fell somewhat as he looked at Lan, the glass girl who had been silent until now. Her face was stone-cold, and her eyes were far away as she observed the exhibition in front of her. Her expression flickered with something unreadable before she turned away.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Then, as if reading Jack's thoughts, she mumbled under her breath, "All men are the same." Her comments hit Jack like a blow in the stomach. He wasn't sure what she meant, but the bitterness in her voice made him stop talking for a second.
He looked at the others—Jie, who had now gone into his room with the woman; Zheng, who was already moving towards his own space with the girl in tow; and Lan, who strolled away without so much as a peek in his direction.
Jack's first thought was: don't insult all the males. I wasn't starting a human firm based on energy release. Jack sighed. So things are proceeding exactly like in the novel, with a few minor differences, such as my being here instead of the high school boy. And while the team had not yet formed, it was evident that trust would be difficult to earn in this situation.
As Lan disappeared inside her room, Jack was left alone in the big, empty hall, unsure what to think of the odd new world he had entered.
Jack shook his head and thought, "Now that I'm alone, let's check the system, also known as a god exchange." Jack brought up his system interface; the sensation was incredible. It seems like heis in the midst of nowhere, and everything disappears, leaving the screen floating in the air.
So this is a virtual reality experience; he focuses first on the points he has gained. A translucent blue screen emerged in front of him, and his eyes analysed the information.
-- Attributes:
Intelligence: 120
Mental capacity: 98
Cell Vitality: 90
Reaction speed: 90
Muscle density: 98
Immunisation strength: 92
Points: 3,201
Jack squinted in amazement when he saw the point total. He rapidly calculated in his head: 2000 points for indirectly rescuing the mercenaries. 1,000 points for surviving the movie. Killing 10 zombies earns 1 point, whereas killing 2 Lickers earns 200 points (100 for each).
He believed this was a fairly reasonable number of points. He can get some valuable items with this point, and because of the machinery savings, he also received 2000 points. If not, she only has to have 1000 points. Jack is aware that he is now most likely the team's third highest scorer.
Pushing his concerns aside, Jack focused on the following line of text:
--- Certificate: C grade ---
His heart pounded as he registered the C-grade certificate. That was higher than he had expected—a recognition of his efforts during the assignment. It felt like a minor affirmation in the midst of all the odd sensations he was experiencing.
Excitement rose once more, and Jack navigated to the exchange system. The alternatives blossomed in front of him, and he scanned them with wide eyes for talents, improvements, and goods from a variety of imaginary realms.
He said that there were several items to swap, including the actual Nobel. There are spider mutations, Superman abilities, t-viruses, vampires, elves, wolves, and a variety of other creatures. But he was fatigued from the rigorous task he had to undertake that day. And the system does not alleviate mental tiredness.
But just as he was ready to close the transaction, he stumbled upon an exchange that piqued his interest. Chakra System from Naruto. His mind raced with options. He is a huge admirer of Naruto, therefore I need to give it some thought.
Then he considered the formation of the human company. Then he considered what he was going to make; he believed he could create like everyone else. But he believed it was not to his liking; if he wanted to be in a relationship, he would choose the original girl over the creation.
Then he considered creating a bodyguard in the same way that someone else had done. And he knows how to create, so he linked to the light sphere and began to build, when a startling notion occurred to him: he could construct his own clone. This notion came to him once he observed the Naruto system.
So I create the clone, and he rapidly transfers all of his memory to the clone, causing the clone to think the same way he did. Then he began to maximise the attribute points, believing that the clone did not need to be 2 metres tall to benefit fully from the attribute point.
If he increases the attribute points equally across all six, I believe any height will have the same power. So he maximises all of the characteristics 200. Then ensuring that the clone understands that he is a clone and is completely loyal to him. Following this, the clone was constructed. When Jack saw the clone, he mistook it for himself.
Now that you are observing me, the clone asked, "What is my name? I believe Jack-B to be adequate."
Then Jack-B added, "I understand why you maximise the power of attributes; you want to know how your body reacts when your attitude improves." And we can debate things together, so we can better understand each other, is that correct?
Jack said, "Yes". Then he thought it was like having a clone of my brain. At that point, Jack was exhausted, he instructed the clone to rest for the day and we'd discuss everything in the morning.
Then he goes to choose a door, then imagines a perfect full house with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and an underground training complex, and finally designs the underground with bleach in mind. Like the Urahara Shop's underground training centre.
After retiring to his room, he told him that i
f he didn't sleep well, he would say this word and they would say goodnight.
