Red liquid falls from my hands pooling around the body of a golden haired woman know to me as my mother...........why?......why her.........why is it that......... WHY IS IT THAT THE FIRST TIME I FIND HAPPINESS ITS TAKEN FROM ME!!!!!!!
1 month ago, Kingdom of Dagan, Some Where in the slums
A thin husk of what used to be human is now resting next to me, her heart no longer beating as her head rests upon my shoulders. She was once known as one of the prettiest girls that swept the city, but fell from the eyes of the public and ended up being used as a rag doll in the brothel where she was broken from the inside out. Now she's here with me, though it seems she found peace faster than I will.
I slowly get up, gently laying her body on the cobblestone alley, I close her eyes that have been open to the cruelness of the world for far too long. Come sunrise the Crowsmen will come and pick her up incinerating the body mixed with countless others ,within the slum, into ashes.
I start walking along the alleyways that wind along the city borders lost in thought.
"I have nothing left to care about, no happiness to be found, why must this world punish me like this........ I give up"
I stop at the beginning of a familiar alleyway, known to the people in the kingdom as the forbidden zone. Once in the forbidden zone you will never come out.
There once was a story about a troublesome thief that brought an entire platoon of knights into the slums in his wake. The platoon captain ordered the men to surround the alleyway the thief had just entered, to block off his escape. They waited for 10 minutes around the alleyway but the thief never came out. The captain ordered 2 men to go check for the thief. Three minutes later the platoon heard earth shattering screams and then the next second complete silence. The platoon was on full alert by that point. The captain then ordered a full charge into the alleyway the Knights lifted their swords and charged into courageously into the alleyway yelling all types of "glory to the gods" type crud . All the residents of the kingdom on that day heard their murderous screams and it was hence labeled the forbidden zone.
I am standing at the entrance to the forbidden zone. I take one last breath and think back on my life.
Let's see, My parents threw me away in a basket in the pouring rain (a bit cliche but you can't exactly expertly pick the day you throw your son away) and I was picked up by Raghu a pickpocket of sorts he only stole miscellaneous things like boot straps and keys etc (don't ask me why, I have absolutely no clue why he did so). Well anyways he picked me up when seeing me and dragged me to his "collection" which is in a small shack if you can call it that, it's more like pieces of wood freestanding. I don't think he realized I was even alive till I started bawling but that's just judging on his expression when he told me how he found me.

Raghu was a terrible caretaker, sometimes he just forgot me all together and I would starve for about a week with no food and only water from a stream nearby to drink (plus a load of miscellaneous items) , then he'd finally remember and bring back a meager amount of food just barely enough to keep living. After a few years of that endlessly repeating cycle Raghu got caught stealing a persons monocle. Apparently it was a noble he tried to steal from and he got the death penalty right there on the spot. I heard the news through rumors throughout the slums and honestly I don't think I felt much sympathy for his death, i mean he did basically leave me almost every single week so no parental love there.
After that I wandered around, I learned how to steal from some gang of pickpockets a.k.a children like me. Honestly, It was awesome we had this whole system of operations like who was going to scout out prey and which children were supposed to go pickpocket on a certain street etc. The gang leader collected the items we stole and sold them to some black market dealer whom he was in contact with. He would then give us all our cut for what we stole, and the more expensive the item was the bigger the cut.
While I was in the gang I met some children which I can remotely call as my only friends I've ever had. I won't go into much detail, because they've also already passed over to the next life but their names were Mary, Goliath, and Jane.
We were in a team, the four of us and it was like that for about a year. One morning I woke up to a day that I thought was going to be like every other day. Goliath came over after seeing I woke up and explained that Mary had just scouted out a wealthy person on the street. We then rushed over to where our target was. Goliath and Jane went into position so that the person walks "into" Jane and then she falls and fakes pain. Most wealthy people cause a commotion saying, for example "What the hell did you do that for. You just got dirt on my clothes you piece of filth" and then kicking or stomping on said piece of filth. To avoid extreme injuries to ourselves we rotated that position each time. Anyways after the person starts making a commotion the role of thief comes into play. The thief ,or in this case Goliath, rushes in silently as possible and pickpockets them and runs into the nearest alleyway then tries to throw off the person chasing him/her in the labyrinth of alleyways. After the wealthy person leaves ,rushing after the thief, comes my job. My job was to help the person taking on the role of the distracter ,in this case Jane, and bring her back to base so that she can rest and recover.
It went all according to script and Jane was lucky enough to get a person who didn't start kicking her before Goliath stole whatever was in his pocket. All in all I thought it was going to be a pretty good day. That was until I got back to base and saw the gang leaders head on a stake.
