Supreme saint
Just Who Am I?

Just Who Am I?

Reincarnation was a concept widely acknowledged in their world. It is a belief that a person highly favored by the heavens, could stand a chance of being reincarnated after death. As pleasing as it seems, it could only be heard of legends.

There were records of people who were considered as reincarnations of saint-level powerhouses. These people were born with extraordinary aptitude, power, and battle style that fit the figure they were attributed to.

Meanwhile, outside the cavern, the second group sat at the entrance waiting. They had their face tainted with unhappy expressions. This was due to the fact that they had been acting on the command given by the soldiers to stay behind and stand guard, but it had been days now and the group had still yet to return.

By now, they began to experience intense hunger. Their patience was running out, some of them had developed ideas of ditching the mission and returning.

"What's the point of waiting here to die of hunger? They are supposed to be back by now, or... Maybe they're all dead" one spoke out impatiently.

"No, we can't go back just like that, we have to be very sure. I suggest we wait a little longer" said another in return.

At this moment, they heard sounds of movement coming from within the cavern. A moment later, the people who had entered the cavern were coming out. The group outside was stunned speechless after noticing that there were now five persons left. Remaining in the group were two soldiers, two men, and a young girl.

"Hahaha, we made it!"

"Finally!"

Just as they shouted out with joy, the group of people who had been waiting couldn't help but wonder 'what must have happened in there?'

From their physical appearance to their gratified expressions, one could infer what miserable event they must have experienced.

"Who could have imagined that we would encounter a teran wolf back there? We must have been cursed in our past lives... our luck was just too bad" The one who spoke was a soldier who was the only archer in the group.

"I thought everything would go smoothly for us after that young boy had been killed off by that thing in the water, but my guess was wrong. Though we didn't find the golden goose egg, we should at least be grateful that we could survive the attack of a third-order vicious beast. Said the second soldier in the group, glancing back to the rest three people who had survived with them.

"I must commend your efforts... honestly, I didn't think much of you guys at first, but we being able to escape the teran wolf was also due to your assistance, especially you Anya" Saying so he glanced at the young girl.

It was obvious from the tone he used to address them that they had gotten a lot familiar during the mission, the normal arrogant attitude of the soldiers was no more. This could be considered to be the fact that they had experienced many miserable things together.

"Sir thinks too highly of me, I was just doing my best to survive" Said the young girl in a polite tone.

"Very admirable for someone of your age. If you are giving proper training you might one day become a great figure in Florin valley" said the soldier.

"We should hurry back to report what we experienced to the patriarch" he added.

Although they encountered so many unfortunate incidents, they couldn't deny the fact that they made some decent harvests these past few days. They found several precious materials, many of which they couldn't recognize so they didn't act rashly and only took those they could identify.

Doran felt like he was entangled in a web of confusion. There were so many mysterious events swirling around him that he didn't seem to understand.

'What is the meaning to all these? Just who am I?' His head ached up a bit as he tried to make meaning to what he was seeing.

From an observer's view, he watched the entire battle unfold. The two sides engaged could be distinguished by the color of the armor they wore. Black against gold seemed to be the theme of the battle.

Although the number of people in golden armor was about a hundred times more than the number of people in black, it didn't seem to be a one-sided battle which proved that the men in black were stronger. The number of people engaging in battle fell very quickly, most especially the golden armored soldiers and the battle changed dramatically. Billions to millions and then thousands... Now left on the battlefield were just a few hundred people. One could notice from the changes in the battle scene that these people were elites among elites.

Doran was shrouded by curiosity as to what will be the outcome of the battle. Just then, his vision began to distort once more.

"No, no wait! I have to figure the whole..."

Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly woke up drenched in sweat. Glancing around his surroundings, he was shocked to discover that he wasn't in the tomb anymore but rather by the river bank. He felt chills run up his spine.

'How did I get here? Did I black out?'

It was obvious from the fact that he had woken up in a different location entirely that a mysterious force, or perhaps someone was working behind the scenes.

'This person shouldn't harbor any malicious intent towards me, but I have to be careful and leave this place as soon as possible'

His only regret was his failure to obtain the black sword. The whole incident still felt like a dream to him. Starting from the God beast he encountered, to the experience in the tomb. He kept on wondering how he was related to the series of events that had played out as he got up and left, taking the path he and the group had gone through before.

Somewhere in the void, stood the figure of a man in a black robe. He was right in the place where Doran had just left, but at the same time, it was like he wasn't there at all. Obviously, he had been there the whole time, but he manipulated the principles of that area to conceal his existence.

"Hmm... seems like we will have to wait a bit longer. I must have brought him here too early, he isn't ready yet"

After saying these words, his figure flickered as he disappeared from the scene.
