The young man dropped his summoning book and startled backwards from the demoness, pushing his sandy brown hair out of his eyes as if that was going to help him see better. Momentarily he thought she was a raven haired goddess, stunned by her otherworldly beauty before he saw her horns and black wings. His next thought then was he was dreaming, was this actually a demon? To be frankly honest he had found the summoning book at a gag shop and he was trying it only out of boredom, never imagining a demon would actually show up. Especially one that looked like her, he was more expecting an ugly motley creature that the human bible or stories would depict if it did work.
"The Queen of Hell?" He repeated dumbly, still in shock. "I thought this spell was for a lesser demon named Alastor or something.. why would the Queen of Hell be here? Also I thought the king of Hell was Lucifer..?"
"Hmmm.. they did say humans where slow." She grinned cheekily at him, "Hell got boring and so here I am, aren't you lucky? As for Lucifer.." she wrinkled her nose in distaste, "you would be correct, he WAS the king. However times change and the crown fell to yours truely. Now, you have already summoned me and the circle is complete, so I'm assuming you know a little of how this works. What is your deepest desire you would trade for your soul?"
He had many other questions for her being as two seconds ago he barely believed in demons, he was so deeply curious. He thought heavily, after all he was giving his soul up for this wish so it had better be worth it. He had nothing else to live for and he didn't want her to leave already, he had many questions for an actual demon. By creating the contract maybe he would also have the opportunity to lean about demons.
"I don't know." He stated in the end, "I guess I'm like everyone else, I just want a life that matters. Where I'm not lonely, and maybe people even respect me."
Sitri smirked, "Okay, fame and riches?" She raised her hand to write the contract.
"No!" He almost shouted. "You can just keep me company until the contract is complete. I don't want to be famous, it's just as lonely to have hoards of fake friends. And I don't care about riches as long as I'm comfortable"
Sitri scoffed, "I am not a pet for company. I will not just follow you around, how will the contract end with such unclear terms?"
"You can be my bodyguard" he offered.
"I'm sorry?" Sitri was already regretting coming to earth, humans where so... strange.
"I have the terms for the contract then. And when I'm happy, finally truely happy then the contract will end. You will serve me as a bodyguard or whatever else I might need until then."
She considered these terms. While she was already regretting this decision as well as her rash decision to be servee(nt) istead of the served. But it shouldn't be too hard to make some human happy right? Although the fact that he didn't want fame and riches concerned her, in the end most humans where simple. Maybe all she needed was to find him a nice human woman. Maybe he wanted to be the president, she would find out and she would make him happy. And then she would take his soul. It almost made it more delicious to take it on the brink of what could have been more.
"Alright fine, I will serve you until you reach your state of happiness at which point the contract will be complete and I will collect your soul. State your full name and consent please."
He hesitated, was he really about to sell his soul for a second of happiness? But then again he never had much happiness to begin with so at least he'd die happy he reckoned.
"My name is Thomas Ulysses Mueller and I agree to these terms"
Sitri grinned and the contract appeared again, simmering in the air before them, a single parchment paper. She wrote the terms and had him cut his hand, with his blood he signed the contract and she sealed it with her own. The contract simmered a bright violet and disappeared in a shower of sparks. Her family's seal appeared on her upper chest right below her collar bone like a glowing purple tatoo, a matching one appeared on his ankle.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
His soul shone brightly for a moment, the rights transfering to her.
"It is done Thomas Ulysses Mueller" she smiled brightly but inside she was almost drooling with anticipation over his soul, the contract seemed to make souls more powerful and all the tastier to consume.
When the contract disappeared so did her wings and horns, giving her a compleye human appearance. After all, she could not go out in the streets with the human looking like a demon. With her own powers she was only allowed in the streets for a short while before her magic would fail to conceal what she was. Although sometimes she did enjoy the fear that stemmed from that as well.
Once the contract was complete, and most importantly this humans soul was in her hands did she actually take a look around the place. It was a small two bedroom house with scarce decorations or even furniture. She shook her head, it was boring and drab. Even hell had better decorating taste. Perhaps she could convince him of an update later on~
She then took a good look at the human she was about to serve. As humans go he was unremarkable although with his square jawline and husky shoulders, some would consider him a catch. His eyes where an icy blue under a shag of his brown hair. She supposed she could consider him cute enough for a human, if he only cut his hair..
"So where shall I stay?" Sitri inquired, following him around his small humble abode.
"In the guestbedroom" he motioned in the direction of the door vaguely, "Its the only other room, I suppose you can sleep there of you clear the clutter."
"Wouldn't it be better if I slept with you?" Sitri's lips parted slyly "Afterall, I am your bodyguard now. I wouldn't want harm befall you in the night."
"I think I'll manage on my own" Thomas remarked dryly, closing his door before leaning against it. Having a moment alone on the other side of the door, he slid to the ground, mentally exhausted.
He literally was in hell on earth. He finally has a beautiful woman in his house but she was the Queen of hell and a demon? Never in a million years would have have pictured himself here. He barely believed in God.
He considered his contract. His life would end as soon as he was truely happy. He took comfort in this fact as he had always thought his life would end some other way. At least he would be happy. And he wouldn't be alone.
He didn't stop to think about how good of company a demon would keep but his life was never so amazing as to he'd want to hold on to it, at least this was a rare adventure most never experience. Maybe he could even write about it and die a well known successful author. Would that be meaningful?
Meanwhile in the the other room Sitri surveyed the room he dictated her. It had papers strewn all over it, and paper stacked all along side the wall. She picked up a sheet, it looked to be the pages of a book. Or multiple books that never seemed to leave this room. So he was a writer.
She snapped her fingers and her clothes transformed into thin black lace nightgown. It would be fun tease him a little, after all inviting a demon into his house, what else could he expect of her?
She knocked on his door, he opened it and almost slammed it shut when he saw what she was wearing. Or rather more what she wasn't as it didn't cover much of her skin. Speaking through a crack in the door he called "yes?"
Sitri almost giggled inside when she saw him slam the door although it was disappointing not to see his face or see any further reaction.
"What do you want me to do with all those papers? Publish them? Make you famous?"
"No! I said I didnt want that. If I'm to be famous I want it to be because of my work not because a demon made people like it. None of those stories are good enough. I just need my one good book."
"Whatever" Sitri rolled her eyes "I can burn them?" She offered.
"Just put them in the garage please. He pointed at the door, its through there. He then shut his door.
Maybe after such an interesting days he should just fall asleep and reflect on it the next day as well as figure out where to go from there. He closed his eyes but soon punched his pillow frustrated. Why couldn't he get the image of her in front of his room in that nightgown out of his head.. God he needed to find a girlfriend.
Sitri went back to her room and quickly cleared it with a wave of her hand and the papers where transferred to the garage. She then lay down on the small bed.
She would wait until tomorrow for him to recharge and then maybe something new would start, even if she didn't know what. Anything was better than being in Hell. She closed her eyes. For once she was almost excited for tomorrow.
