Michele tossed and turned in his sleeping cot as he gripped his blankets. Ever since the Battle of the Doors to the World, he has been struggling with his revealed Ravernal form and the memories that came with it. All he had to look forward to was heading back to Italy by January with other units.
The bearded man grunted as he tried his best to sleep. He slept on his left side, then his right, on his back yet nothing seemed to work. Maybe he needed water. He then opened his eyes.
"... What the hell!?"
Large figures surrounded him in a circle as they seemed to be conversing with each other. But as they heard Michele, they all looked down at the man.
"Oh look, he's finally awake," a woman in a grandeur kimono said.
"So the spell's working again after all these years huh?" Another man in Roman legionary armour said.
"I didn't think it would. He doesn't seem ill so far," an Indian looking man with multiple arms said.
"Alright, everyone settle down," a man with a white beard and toga said.
Michele looked around, overwhelmed. Where the hell was he? And... Are these guys gods? He must be having a wild dream, "... I must be dreaming."
"... No, Michele. You're not dreaming. Technically," the woman in the kimono said.
Michele gulped, "W-wait... Where... where am I?"
The man in the toga smiled, "Welcome to the Council of the Heavens, Michele. Sorry for dragging you here like this, we wanted to make sure we could conduct this spell with as little of an incident as possible."
The soldier sat up further before he looked down to his sleeping cot which somehow was here as well. He then got off the cot to let his new wings flutter as he looked to the man in the toga, "Who... are you?"
The gigantic man smiled, "I am the God of the Gods, the one who has created it all," He said. "I have no identity, but for simplicity's sake... Just call me God. Zeus works as well."
Michele went wide eyed before he dropped to his knees and held his hands together, "H-heavenly father, it's..."
"Nice to meet you too, son. Stand up, there's no need for such formalities," God said as Michele gulped and complied. "You may be familiar with the others..."
He then started introducing the other gods as they all looked at Michele, "This is our God of War, who has decided to take the identity of Mars."
Mars looked to Michele, "A pleasure. You've been an honourable warrior before and until now."
Michele bowed a bit in respect before God continued, "This here is the God of the Sun who has taken the identity of Amaterasu."
Amaterasu looked to Michele as she smiled, "Nice to meet you, dear angel."
Michele smiled back before he looked to the next god, "And this here is the God of Destruction, who has taken the identity of Shiva."
Shiva looked to Michele as he waved, "Don't let the name fool you, I'm not some malevolent being."
Michele then nodded. He sighed deeply and ran his hand against his head, "I've got a dozen questions."
God smiled, "I can imagine. Please, go ahead."
"Okay... Why am I here?"
Amaterasu then spoke up, "You're here Michele because we have been meaning to make contact with you."
Mars nodded, "Among everyone down in Elysia, you are the only true Ravernal that has the ability to transcend the barrier to meet with us."
"I see... Two, are... the way you all are different gods, are they all true then?"
The gods looked at each other before Shiva spoke, "Every religion is right in their own way. Think of it as each religion looking at one part of a whole painting. We're all there together."
"Right... Another um... Why are Earth gods here in Elysia?"
God then smiled, "In truth, we're not specifically gods of Earth but we are gods of everywhere. We just decided to take on the identities of Earthly gods to be more accommodating for you. If you were to meet us in our true form, your mind would melt to be frank."
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Amaterasu nodded, "As for us being here in Elysia, in truth Elysia is the closest thing we call a home. We are everywhere, but Elysia is a world we specifically made for us to reside in safety. That's why it's such a large world, it is to accommodate every god that there is."
Michele looked to Amaterasu curiously, "So it's an alternate dimension, in a way?"
"Mhm. Elysia is the mortal domain to our world... Which brings us to the topic of the Ravernals," she said with a more serious look.
Mars nodded, "We've been watching your nation's progress. While you have been prevailing, that attack on Rimini has had us concerned."
Michele perked an eyebrow up, "Why? I mean... it is a tragedy but we did take it down, didn't we?"
Shiva shrugged, "Sure you guys did, but it was one beast and you all have struggled. Not to mention the only history of the Ravernals you're getting are from thousands years old stories."
God then nodded, "To simplify, we want to... nudge you a bit in the right direction. Because this concerns us as well." He said. "You may want to sit down for this, it's quite a story."
Michele looked back to the sleeping cot before he nodded and sat down.
Amaterasu took a deep breath, "Thousands of years ago, Elysia was at peace. It was the ideal world that allowed us to use our powers with no consequence. We created beautiful lands, diverse peoples, and curious critters on this large planet."
Mars nodded before he continued the story, "Even if there was war and skirmishes, it is all human. Life on Elysia was ideal, there was a perfect balance of peace and violence... Until an intruder came into our world."
Shiva then frowned, "The Ravernal Empire. A rogue, powerful nation of magic that even transcends the powers of smaller gods. They were ruthless. They conquered, pillaged, enslaved, and raped their way through Elysia. Nobody knows how they got here, or where they come from. Not even us."
Amaterasu then continued, "This was an attack on our lands, on our powers. These Ravernals conquered everything in sight. We tried our best to help the people we've created but they befell the same fate of being enslaved."
Mars then frowned deeply, "We considered restarting Elysia, to recreate it from scratch... But somehow, the Ravernals have the ability to transcend and break the barrier between mortals and us gods. They tried attacking us. And the worst part is, they actually managed to kill some of the smaller scale gods such as the God of Wyverns and the God of Feast."
God then leaned forward, "We decided to end it. With our combined abilities we rained down a mighty star to decimate their empire once and for all. But they just... vanished. And now, we have a feeling they're gonna be returning."
Shiva nodded, "We have never seen such powers of transporting lands from other worlds. Creating lands, sure, but transporting them? Impossible, it should be."
Amaterasu sighed, "In all honesty, the war with the Ravernals really has drained us... This disconnect allowed the people of Elysia to evolve without our guidance and all we can do to affect the world is change the weather at most."
Mars then looked to Michele, "And that's why we have summoned three new lands to aid our efforts against the Ravernals."
Michele meanwhile was already struggling with all this information but the news that they were not the only transported shocked him, "Wait, three? What are the other two?"
God then smiled before he showed off a display. The world map of Elysia, "The first land we summoned was Mu. A continent from Earth. It was a test spell in all honesty but its summoning proved it could work... I believe that Italy may be making contact with Mu, soon."
Amaterasu nodded, "It was a gargantuan effort to bring Mu into Elysia. The next is a nation like yours... with technology that is the equivalent to a past version of Italy."
Michele thought for a moment, "Uhh... the Roman Empire?"
Shiva whispered awkwardly, "Fascist Italy."
"Oh," Michele said. "Who are they?"
"Well... we won't say. We wanted to make sure that you and your government can handle problems without being fed too much of the answers. Which brings us to your country, Italy. The final lands that we summoned in preparation against the Ravernals," God said before he removed the display.
"Wait... I just, I don't understand something. Can... Can I ask, why Italy? Why couldn't it be something like, I dunno, Japan or the US?"
"Well, with summoning Japan, there's a problem with doing so," Amaterasu said, "You see, our powers struggle hard already on Earth, but if we try to transport a land that is majority artificial and human made and not natural... i.e filled with technology or cities, we fear the spell may not be strong enough and may even break something." She said.
"As for summoning America, taking a country that large would certainly cause anarchy on Earth, and we do not want to risk it," Mars said. "We summoned Italy for a specific reason. Your nation was the perfect candidate. It was the perfect size and strength for us to be able to bring here onto Elysia."
"Huh..." Michele said as he processed this information, "Umm... Another thing, about the Romans... I've been getting memories of Romans being brought here to fight that demon lord thing. What was that about?"
Shiva then spoke up, "We were still very weak from trying to destroy the Ravernals but when we heard that the Demon Lord, which is a weapon of the Ravenrals, was trying to conquer the world, we had to do something."
Mars nodded, "Your ancestors were the strongest and fiercest warriors we knew of. No matter how battered and beaten, each soldier stood up to fought to the death."
"Right... But... my ancestors? Really? I... I've been kind of struggling with this form of mine," Michele said as he looked to his arm with the light angel markings on it. "Sometimes I feel as if I'm not who I think I am."
The gods looked to each other before Amaterasu smiled, "We understand. But this current life of yours is who you are now. Yes, you were indeed Emperor Marcus and Saint Michael in the past before your death... but today, you are Michele Luca, our messenger to the world."
God then nodded in agreement, "And thus, we will be sending you off... It's not often we specifically speak to a mortal. But this war against Ravernal is very important, Michele. I can only hope we nudged you into the right direction. This Ravernal Empire... It will be an international endeavour that requires true teamwork. We would do more if we could. But it is up to you, your nation, and Elysia to defeat the Ravernals once and for all."
Michele looked to the four gods, all of them gazed back with expectant looks. He furrowed his eyebrows as he nodded, "Yes, my Lord."
...
...
...
Michele gasped as he sat up. He looked around in a haste only to see he was now back in his barracks.
