Karna opened his eyes slowly as he woke up in a daze. His eyelids were heavy and he felt weak and drowsy. sharp sun rays coming from the cracked wall penetrated his eyes as he squinted in pain. Karna blocked the rays with his hands and recovered his stunned eyesight shortly, he jerked his head left and right to clear the drowsiness.

Karna felt very uncomfortable as he was unfamiliar with his own body. Although the body wasn't his in the first place.

Karna found himself in a shabby-looking room, likely the servant's quarters. The room had a single bed with simple bed sheets, a full-body mirror, a table, and a wooden compartment to store some things. He was on Lara's bed when he saw Lara beside him sleeping peacefully. Even while sleeping, she seemed to be in a guarded posture as she was hugging her own body, seemingly protecting the vital parts. She looked like a scared kitten with her unmatured and petite body. The rough marks of tears could be seen on her cheeks.

Karna moved his neck sideways with a puzzled expression as complicated thoughts swirled around in his mind. Karna saw the broken wall and a few blood stains which were almost unnoticeable.

Suddenly as if the gears clicking in place, He remembered the events of last night.

He remembered that he had seen Lara being assaulted as nothing but rage had filled his mind. Not having experienced anything similar before he had been baffled and was frozen in place.

This was understandable as Karna held not even the slightest affection toward anyone in his last life as he was an orphan and the slums of the modern world were a cruel place with all sorts of nasty people lingering around.

No matter where he looked, the place looked to be endless and white. When he looked at his arms, he was shocked to see that he had no physical body but a corporeal transparent soul form that looked like it would scatter into dust just by a breeze.

Seeing this, Karna was very shocked and almost went insane as he first thought that he was dead and the second thought he had was that he would have to be in that place for eternity. But then he realized that he had already experienced death before and this was not it.

Karna then forced himself to calm down as he roamed the place but found nothing but white.

Just as he was about to give up, he suddenly felt a strange sensation as he could 'feel' what was happening outside of that place. Even though everything was white In the place he was in, he could directly feel what was happening inside his soul.

Karna then saw everything that happened after he had fainted. He saw as his body somehow moved on its own and showed the warrior Aura in front of everyone and killed the trash who was assaulting Lara.

Karna felt ashamed of himself as he was frozen in place by the sudden event and before he could recover, he was trapped in the strange place.

Karna did not know how his body might have moved on its own without his control and even used the Zarx Family's Movement Technique with ease.

After that, he saw Lara in his embrace as everyone left and the banquet was over. Lara cried a lot at night and fell asleep out of exhaustion after going through such a traumatic experience.

After that, he did not remember anything. Karna tried thinking hard about the strange place he was in, but suddenly he felt a stroke of headache as he groaned out loud in pain.

The sound woke up Lara. She got up In a daze. Her eyes were rough and dry after crying so much.

Lara also remembered the last night's incident after waking up as she shuddered in panic. But after seeing Karna beside her groaning in pain as he was pressing his head made Lara calmed down as she remembered how he had lifted the piece of trash with one hand and saved her.

The next moment she realized that Karna was in pain as she quickly got up from the bed and went in front of him. She pressed Karna's forehead cutely trying to relieve his pain.

"My Lord, are you fine?" Lara asked while knitting her brows in worry.

Karna felt heartfelt gratitude as he saw Lara who was worried for him despite the traumatizing event she had experienced just the last night.

Karna suddenly remembered that last night Lara was acting strange before the banquet. His expression turned severe as he grabbed Lara's hand.

"Tell me the truth, last night why didn't you tell me before the banquet if anything was wrong?" Karna scolded.

"Tha- That, My lord...." Lara stuttered as she looked down dejectedly.

"Say! What's the matter? Do you not trust me at all?" Karna said raising his voice.

"N-no! That's not it. He was just acting indecently back then. I didn't think that h-he would... a-and I'm just a maid, how could I have troubled you for my matter?" Lara said, her voice nearly inaudible when she said the last part. Her eyes became teary as if she would begin sobbing at any moment.

Karna's expression became softer. He gently held Lara's hand as he forced her to look at him.

"Listen to me! You are very important to me! Do not hesitate to ask for anything from now on. Do you understand?" Karna said in a firm tone as he looked into her eyes.

Lara was confused as she did not know how could she have been of any importance to someone like Rudra. Although she was confused, she saw that Karna was saying all of it sincerely and not kidding from the way he looked at her. She nodded in a flustered manner.

Karna let go of her hand and he turned around. He said in a lower voice with a resolute face, "I will protect you..." realizing the mistake he hurriedly added, "....And the Zarx Family and its people."

After saying that, he left. Lara looked at him going from behind in a stupefied manner.
