Choose your class?

Quill wanted desperately to dismiss those screens but he REALLY needed that health potion and given he apparently had a disease now, needed that cleansing potion that he HOPED would get rid of it along with his infection status which had upgraded to mild when he wasn’t paying attention. At least he finally got confirmation on the weird skill thing he was using.

He accepted the quest reward and a simple wooden chest appeared before him in a flash of light. Well he said chest but that might imply it had some more elegance then it actually possessed. It probably would have been more accurate to call it a wooden crate. But hell, if it had what he needed then who gives a shit.

He crawled his way towards the crate. Wincing with every movement from both the broken bones but also the open wounds from the cuts on his chest and bite from his shoulder that have ONCE AGAIN been opened.

He popped open the “chest” lid and looked inside. There were five vials, some leather looking armor, leather pants, a pair of boots, a couple of generic looking daggers sheathed, and some kind of scroll which he assumed would be his free common skill.

He ignored everything else and focused on the vials. Two were red, one was blue, one was green and one was pink. Well he hoped things were going off of the mechanics in video games.

He snatched the red vial, popped it open and chugged the potion. It tasted sorta like a mix of berries and instantly he felt his body starting to mend. His bones were snapping back in place, his flesh was mending itself back together. It was all a very weird and sorta painful experience that was for sure.

By the end of it, his skin was red and inflamed from where all his wounds were, his body was still hurt and knew he had bruises all over but he was in a lot better shape then he had been. At least all of his serious wounds were now gone.

He decided that he didn’t need the second potion to heal the discomfort. Especially when he was probably going to need it later so he then turned towards the pink potion.

He was a little mixed on whether he should take what he assumed was the cleansing potion now or later. He still had the condition rat rot though he certainly didn’t feel anything. But then again he probably wouldn’t be feeling its effects any time soon.

But he still just didn’t like the idea of walking around with some disease, not to mention he still apparently had an infection despite the wound on his shoulder being gone. Plus who knew how Rat Rot might affect him in ways he just doesn’t see or understand.

So he quickly chugged the cleansing potion (Tasted a little like mint) and checked his status screen and was relieved to see both the Rat Rot and his infection were gone. Still labeled as Insane though apparently.

Feeling a lot better, Quill grabbed the crate and carried it back towards the break room. As much as he wanted to choose a class he wanted to save that for last and get himself situated.

Once he was safe (or at least more safe) in the break room he decided to take a look at the scroll that he assumed was his new common skill

Learn the skill identify?

Really? Just like that? Well sure if it was going to be that easy. Sure, why not?

The scroll burst into golden particles and flowed into him, checking his status screen he confirmed that it was indeed now part of his skill set sitting currently at level one. So just to confirm he tried identifying what he assumed was the mana potion.

Potion. Unknown

The fuck you mean unknown. Do you need to drink it in order to know what it is? Kinda defeats the purpose don’t it?

He turned his attention to the health potion and tried identifying that.

Lesser Healing potion (G grade)

Well he was probably sort of correct on that front. Perhaps leveling it up would make it more accurate. The question of course is how?

He did a quick identify scan on the armour and daggers he got but it literally just told him “leather armor” And “iron daggers” so really there wasn’t much to go off of. And so with nothing else to really do he decided to choose his class.

Mentally agreeing to the prompt asking him to choose his class he was given several options that appeared before him. Most seemed pretty basic, stuff like warrior, mage, rogue, your typical video game class tropes. However there were two that certainly caught his attention

Early Savage warrior (uncommon)

The savage warrior has shown his ability to push through pain and to fight with strength and determination that goes beyond the normal limits in ways others might look down upon. Skills rewarded from this class will greatly enhance ones natural physical abilities

1 stat point in body, 1 free stat point.

Early Occultist mage (uncommon)

The occultist mage has witnessed and grasped power from something many would consider taboo or unnatural. A sure path to power as you delve deeper into the occult. Skills rewarded from this class will be of the occult in nature, the exact kind of skills depend on what kind of occult the mage has partaken in.

.5 stat point in soul, .5 stat point in mind, 1 free stat point

Quill looked at these two options. Aside from them just being uncommon classes with much better descriptions than the others and the sound of better skills. He was also being given 2 full stat points as opposed to 1.5 stat points from the other normal classes.

Now the question was which he should choose. He liked both, Savage warrior would undoubtedly help his chances of survival given that it focused on physical abilities and seeing as how if something were to destroy his body he would most certainly, definitely die. It was certainly appealing. (the irony of him trying to pump himself up to kill himself a day ago and now was focused on trying to find a method to stay alive longer certainly wasn’t lost on him)

Now as for Occultist mage. It did seem promising but his biggest concern was the unknown. It said his skills will be dependent on whatever entity he experienced or saw and well..

Quill turned his attention back inside him as he felt the grey energy that flowed around him. It was both a part of him while also not and while it was comforting, even nice to interact with. He didn’t know what it was, where it came from. Or if it even had sentience.

Plus if it did have some consciousness, that didn’t really mean it would be a particularly good or nice being. The last thing he wanted was to have to do the bidding of some super powerful being cause they said so. It would literally just be his various jobs all over again except he’d probably be risking his life more.

Of course this was all assuming any of what he thought of was true. The problem was he just didn’t know, it felt like there were too many variables and while sure it MIGHT give him more or even greater power down the line later, it really didn’t help him much now.

Quills mind made up he selected “Savage Warrior” and got another system prompt

Class selected. Please stand by

“Stand by for wha-” and then darkness consumed him
