Chapter 2

Dammit...

Every day it's been like this, the same thing happening over and over again.

Why the hell do I end up going along with it though.

If it weren't for that annoying brat I wouldn't even be in this situation.

Right now i'm bowing my head so low it's already touching the ground.

"You baldy! Shithead!" (Woman)

"Do you know who I am?!?" (Woman)

Ah shit...

It's that woman I knocked over yesterday.

She has beautiful short black hair and dark skin.

Her face would be defined as gorgeous had it not been in such an angry state.

She's also wearing a light dress with pants underneath.

Sad...

It's not like I was planning to peep up her skirt or anything.

Oh... Looks like her face is scrunching up even more.

She looks like she's about to blow her lid off...

Haaah...

It wasn't always like this.

I was a respectable farmer once.

My father has long since passed and my mother has left as well not too long ago due to illness.

Being the only child I was to manage our field.

But when my crops during last year's freak drowth withered I wasn't able to pay the city loan for them.

So I had to result to slavery.

It was the quickest way to make money after all.

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

You just had to capture some beast-kin and sell them.

Of course it wasn't easy.

Beast-kin are very much strong.

They sell as much as two year's worth of my field of crops.

But a desperate man has his ways, I stole a steak from the butcher's shop and a sleeping powder from the alchemist's shop in the capital.

Then all I had to do was make a trap my friend a hunter taught me to hunt foxes in the middle of the forest, put the steak in as bait and wait.

After a while a young female beast-kin started to approach my trap but it looked like she knew what was going on.

Her ears were twitching and she was clearly guarded.

All of a sudden though something from the bushes jumped out bumped into her as it did then went for my trap.

Of course I pulled the string in my hand just in time to activate it.

As soon as I did I pulled out my sickle which I usually used for my crops to intimidate the female beast-kin.

It worked and she scurried off.

When I went to look at my trap there he was.

The person that'd bring me so much misfortune, pain and despair.

Sadly it didn't really went according to plan.

I couldn't pay my debt with a slave so I had to sell him then pay the city office.

Since the deadline was coming as well, I thought I just leg it with what I have to Imeseria, sell the bastard there, come back and pay my debt.

But here I am...

8 months later...

Still here in this god forsaken place.

The woman then kicks me removing me from my thoughts.

"My apologies, my apologies" (Slater)

I look at her with upturned eyes trying to see if my charm works on her.

"Oh... How handsome" (Woman)

"I'm the one who should be sorry, I went overboard" (Woman)

No, actually, that was just in my head. What I see in her face is a look of disgust and pity when she looks slightly above my eyes.

Miss, my eyes are a bit further down...

That's my scalp...

And why pity...

"Young miss, i'm truly sorry, it was not my inte-" (Slater)

"Oi slaver! don't forget about my pots as well" (Merchant)

I'm screwed...

This is Ahadim, he's more of a bastard than me.

Sells pots like they're made of gold but in reality just buys 'em off thieves and resells them.

Nonetheless he has the backing of the city guards, so I can't do anything to him.

I try my upturned eyes tactic on him too but I get the same reaction.

Hey mister...

You're bald too...

I continue back to bowing my head down and apologizing earnestly.

The woman seems to have been content with shouting at me already and has left.

As I heard her stomp her feet and grumble baldy.

But the merchant is still here.

"It's 5 gold for the pots and surely that young miss won't pay me" (Ahadim)

I let out a friendly laugh as I stand up and tap his shoulder.

"Surely, us baldies don't fret over things like money yes?" (Slater)

But my fellow baldy the merchant only squinted his eyes in anger.

"I'll give you a week, if you haven't paid me in seven days time, i'll have you arrested!" (Ahadim)

He turns his back on me and walks away just like that.

Haaaah...

What do I do now?

That brat would sell for 50 gold but it's already been so long since I got him and no one's even as much batted an eye at him.

I'm doomed...

Doomed...

I walk back to the cage with my chair beside it and hold my head in my hands.

Just as I thought i'd have to leave again I heard something from beside me, one that's been said too many times before.

"I've got an idea!" (Tio)
