Gerhart used his advantage in agility to dodge to the side and kick the knight after shoving Ritzy to the side.
“A little warning next time, maybe!”
Ritzy stumbled and fell on his buttocks, but that didn’t stop him from shouting at Gerhart, despite having been saved from the axe’s downswing.
Splinters flew as the axe once again collided with the ground, but since Gerhart kicked the knight in his chest, the knight managed to pull the axe free while stepping back to keep his balance.
The knight was a little surprised that Gerhart managed to kick a fully grown adult man with full metal armor that was carrying a heavy axe. But there was no time for surprise, and the knight hefted the axe again and held it. He had one hand close to the blade so that it would be easier to maneuver the heavy axe in close quarters.
The knight was still dragged down by the weight of the axe and his armor. But he wasn’t so out of shape that he wouldn’t be able to catch up to the Ritzy and Gerhart. Well, he couldn’t catch up to Gerhart. But Ritzy was in trouble.
Fortunately, Ritzy wasn’t alone. Gerhart made sure to stay between Ritzy and the knight and kept the knight away from Ritzy.
“Rit, how are we going to save Talia?”
Since it had turned into a game of cat and mouse on the stage, and there was no end in sight, at least not one Gerhart wanted to see, he decided to get Ritzy to start thinking about a solution.
“I don’t see her anymore. I think it’s too late and say we leave her corpse behind. I’m sure she would want us to save ourselves!”
Ritzy wiped a crocodile tear from the corner of his eye as he grabbed his bag and got ready to run after stuffing the skull back inside.
“Bastards! I’m not dead yet. Fucking get over here right now!”
However, contrary to Ritzy’s words, Talia was alive. But she wasn’t well as she had several cuts all over her body. And lashing out with the bone club to get enough room to shout at Ritzy and Gerhart earned her another deep wound on her abdomen.
“Rit.”
“Gerry?”
Gerhart couldn’t take his eyes away from the knight, so he couldn’t tell what kind of situation Talia was in, but her pained grunting was all he needed to hear to know that things were desperate.
“Fucking do something!”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t rush me, I’m thinking.”

“Ritzy, if I die, I’m going to haunt you!”
Despite it getting her another wound on her leg, Talia couldn’t stay quiet.
“Oh, could you?!”
Unfortunately, it backfired since Ritzy only looked overjoyed at the prospect of Talia turning into a vengeful ghost that would stay behind and hang around him.
“For fucks sake, Rit. If she dies and turns into a ghost, I’m exorcising her the first thing I do.”
“Hey, don’t lay your filthy paws on my ghost!”
“Rit!”
“Ritzy!”
Both Gerhart and Talia shouted at Ritzy to get him back on track.
“Alright, fine, I got it. Gerry, you’ll have to get out of the way!”
Ritzy waited an entire moment before raising the dagger he unsheathed while talking to Gerhart and Talia and throwing it toward the knight fighting Gerhart.
The dagger tumbled through the air, its sharp blade glistening in the sun.
Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the weapon sailed and spun through the air toward the armored knight.
The knight, having heard Ritzy’s warning, was already on the alert and moved his head to the side since he saw something flying toward him. When it came closer, he realized it was the knife he had dissed before and that it probably wouldn’t have done much, even if it hit. But the blade easily fit through the eye slit in his visor, and the knight didn’t want to take the risk.
However, as he saw the knife’s trajectory, he realized another thing. Ritzy missed. Quite severely at that.
The dagger Ritzy had thrown with all his might toward Gerhart’s opponent sailed past the knight with a wide margin.
As soon as he saw the knight fly past him, the knight turned toward Gerhart and Ritzy with a ferociously ugly grin that was fortunately hidden by the visor on his helmet. However, he had a third realization and whipped his head around to look behind him.
After climbing up the stage and going for the axe, the knight had ended up close to being between Ritzy and Gerhart and the two groups of knights, one surrounding Talia and one surrounding Michmond.
During Gerhart’s and the Knight’s game of cat and mouse, the three parties had ended up nearly perfectly aligned.
So, although Ritzy’s aim was a little off, the knife wouldn’t land on empty ground. And since he had thrown it with all his might, despite being a little on the weaker side, the knife still had a lot of force and speed after missing its initial target.
The dagger sailed over the group of knights trying to subdue the bone club-wielding Talia. But it began to droop through the air.
The knife flipped through the air toward the second group of knights, but it was quickly losing altitude.
The armored knights weren’t very worried about a thrown knife at the end of its path. Even if they were unlucky, the worst they could expect was a scratch in their armor since there was no way a dagger with a downward trajectory like that would find its way into any gaps or the slit in their visors.
However, there was an exception. Unlike the fully armored knights, Michmond only had fancy, everyday noble’s clothes on him that only protected the covered parts from sunlight.
Micahmond had also cleared a path in the knights so that he could see what was happening, both on stage and right below it.
The knife flew through the air.
Most of the knights didn’t even realize what was going on yet. But a few of them were quick-witted enough to realize that the knife was heading somewhere they shouldn’t allow it to land.
However, their bodies weren’t as fast as their racing thoughts, and they could only try to reach in front of Michmond before it was too late.
Alas, the knife, like a bird guided by fate, pierced through the air and implanted itself in Michmond’s throat.
