Island of Monsters

Island of Monsters

It took Kisame over an hour to finally reach the island. Even with his body, the rough waves around the island made it difficult for him to push through. He was sure that underwater whirlpools would have been even worse for him to try to get through. Once he landed on the island, Kisame looked around in surprise.

'Everything is so.. huge!'

All the trees were over 30 meters in height while being at least 5 meters in radius. Even the fruits on the trees were much larger than normal.

'So when he said "savage creatures" did he mean...?'

Just as this thought entered into Kisame's mind, a group of large boars emerged from the forest. Seeing them appear and stare directly at him, a bad feeling arose within Kisame.

'They can't be that sensitive to a new presence. Right?'

As if to break his thoughts, the group of boars began charging over. With the smallest boar being over 4 meters tall with the largest over 8, all of the creatures looked very intimidating as they charged.

Unwilling to back down from the approaching enemies, Kisame brandished his blade and began charging toward the group as well.

Just as both groups were about to clash, Kisame jumped into the air above the largest one. Instead of bringing down his blade, the boy punched toward the boar with his free hand.

'Hundred Tile True Punch!'

One of the classic and most basic moves of Fish-Man Karate, this move was capable of breaking through a hundred tiles at once. Most humans easily get blown away due to the force that the punch produces and the large boar was no exception.

Instead of being blown away, the boar's momentum was stopped as it collapsed into the ground. Letting out a squeal of pain, the boar tried to get up but before it was able to, its vision went black. While the boar was unable to move, Kisame had stabbed into its head where he had landed his previous punch with his trusted sword and killed the creature.

Kisame pulled his blade out of the boar. The action of doing so caused the blood from the corpse to spray up and cover him. The surrounding creatures were stunned when they saw their strongest killed off but were terrified when they saw the bloody scene afterward.

With a predatory smile on his face, Kisame went after all the boars to kill them with a combination of hand-to-hand techniques as well as his sword. Without their leader and having lost their will to fight, it was a one-sided slaughter. When all the boars were dead, Kisame began laughing at his victory.

"That old man thought this was going to be enough to kill me? Ha! While they may have hurt me if they were able to land a blow, these guys are just too weak."

Just as Kisame was about to continue gloating, he heard a growl from the forest. He turned to look. There was a single pair of eyes that looked out from the forest. Although the creature they belonged to looked very tall, Kisame was not worried about it.

"Only one of you? If you had a pack like these boars did I might have been worried but I am not afraid of a one-on-one battle with a little creature."

After his taunt ended, Kisame realized that something was wrong. Moments later dozens of other pairs of eyes opened up and illuminated the dark forest. The smile on Kisame's face froze because each creature was larger than the last.

With a roar, the attack began out of nowhere. Dozens of predators emerged from the forest and charged toward Kisame. Tigers, lions, bears, lizards. Different species all coming together to kill Kisame and take his prey.

Without any hesitation, Kisame ran towards the sea. He knew that he could not beat all of the animals coming after him nor could he outrun them in the forest where he had a chance of running into even more animals. Even if there were some larger sea creatures, Kisame was a fish-man and confident of his chances while battling underwater.

The horde was closing in on Kisame as he approached the water. The closest ones even got into positions to pounce. When Kisame's feet touched the water, there was only a 10-meter difference. As his knees entered the water, it shortened to 5. As the creatures pounced, so did Kisame.

With a few scratches to his legs, Kisame made it safely into the water. Without trying to check his wounds, Kisame dove and swam forward at the same time to get as far away as he could. As he dove, the animals above were swiping their claws or stomping their paws trying to get to him.

What Kisame did not know was that all the animals on the island were very territorial. They did not come after him because of the smell of blood from the boars but due to smelling a new creature on the island. Thus all the ones who could smell Kisame banded together to hunt him down and kill him before he disturbed their ecosystem.

Within minutes, Kisame had swum far enough that he no longer had to worry about attacks from the animals. He was hundreds of meters away from the shore and dozens of meters under the water. Just as he was about to surface, Kisame turned around and saw an eye that was larger than his whole body.

'Fuck me! Where did Rayleigh send me that had sea kings?!?!'

Being a member of the fish-men tribe, Kisame was very knowledgeable about sea kings and how dangerous they were. And the sea king before him was one of the largest ones he had heard of. He also knew that he was pretty much dead at that point since he could not kill it or outrun it. The giant creature charged towards Kisame with its mouth open, ready to eat him whole.

'If I'm doing to die, at least I will go swinging!'

Kisame swung his blade downwards at the tooth of the sea king that was about to cut him in half. Luckily for Kisame, his blade got lodged between 2 teeth and he was carried by the sea king to the top of the water before being sent flying through the air.

With his sword lost to the creature below, Kisame felt upset but also lucky. Even though he had just suffered a heavy blow and lost his sword, he was at least alive. Or he would be until he landed.

'I bought a few more seconds of life at least. This means my luck is turning around.'

And Kisame was correct. Instead of crashing into the hard ground, he landed in a tree where 4 layers of leaves broke his fall before he crashed into a nest where some giant eggs further cushioned his fall.

Kisame stood up with the egg yolk covering his bloody body, this time his own blood instead of a boar's. With a smile on his face, Kisame let out a triumphant laugh when he saw that nothing was too injured on his body.

"Haha! Fuck you, Rayleigh! Is this all your dumb island has? Some large animals and a damn sea king guarding the place? I can survive here easily!"

And just like the last time he taunted, he was soon punished for his actions. Several large birds appeared and looked furiously at Kisame who was covered in the bird-egg yolk. As if that was not bad enough, 2 large snakes that were about half the size of the sea king had just slithered up the tree and were staring at Kisame as if he was a tasty treat.

Kisame looked at all the creatures surrounding him and made a choice. He jumped out of the nest before any of the creatures could react and began jumping from branch to branch as he was followed and hunted by the animals that lived there. This was truly hell for the young boy.

--- 1 month later ---

It had been exactly 30 days since Rayleigh had sent Kisame off to the island. Rayleigh was currently rowing in a boat and was just about to land on the island. When the boat arrived on the shore, Rayleigh got out with a jump. As the seawater flooded his sandals, the man looked around from left to right until he spotted something with his Observation Haki.

Walking forward, the man walked casually into the forest. Just like Kisame, the man also attracted the attention of every creature that could smell him. Several different predators roared/growled and charged toward the old man. But when any of them got within 10 meters of him, they would collapse and lose consciousness.

This continued until no creature dared to near the man although they still paid attention to him from a distance. Rayleigh made his way to a swamp that was filled with muddy water until he stood in front of a particular puddle with a teasing smile on his.

"How was your month, Kisame?"
