"Serkan, you little bastard get back here or I'll make sure you won't be walking for the rest of your life" roared the enraged member of the city guard.
There was no reply for this threat as Serkan knew it would signal his position and more importantly be a waste of his breath. He nimbly climbed atop a small building and looked down disdainfully at the livid guard running through the desolate moonlit alleyways of the city. Serkan looked around his birthplace, his home and also the bane of his existence. His dark black hair swayed in the slight breeze, his chiseled features that were still transitioning from a boy to a man, his 6 foot tall figure that was lean yet toned stood with a pondering frown, his body covered by matt black clothing looked over the detestable city. He once viewed the city differently but that was long ago.
Ten years ago, at the age of 8 years old, Serkan witnessed the true nature of humans, the once innocent and ever-joyful young child who lived a life of happiness tasted the one thing that all people faced, Death. Whether it be the most powerful of kings or the most worthless of slaves they all faced this same end, whatever they did their deaths were an inevitability. The cold breeze upon their shoulders a beckoning from the grave their final resting place.
Serkan had seen death like many other of the street-dwellers and had also seen that his life was nothing more than a cruel twist of fate brought upon him to teach him humility and despair. He had watched as his mother and father were murdered in cold blood by an escaped prisoner. The complacency of the city guard that led to the death of his parents also caused him to fester a deep hatred towards them which is what led him to this moment of time.

He had thought it would be a good idea to give the captain of the guard a little lesson in embarrassment so he sneaked some laxatives into Captain Rowland's supper. It led to a citywide search for the mischievous troublemaker as this was not the first time Serkan had sabotaged the food of the guard. Just a week beforehand he had dropped 4 inch long spider into the soup of the notorious arachnophobic vice-captain of the city guard. A note left on the spider read.

He now sped through the eerily-quiet cobblestone streets towards his only safe haven from the guard, the slums. Serkan had earned a reputation there as the punisher of corrupt city guards and many of the inhabitants owed Serkan their lives as he freed many of them from possible lives of slavery. They were loyal and trustworthy people who protected one of their own even if it caused trouble for them.
Serkan greeted some of his acquaintances as he neared his home, a simple shack that only consisted of one room, but he noticed something strange as he entered through the softly creaking door. Before him stood someone who he never expected to see again.
"Father?" Serkan croaked, his entire body trembling.
