July 5th is, for those in Earth, just like any other day but for all the races in the galaxy, July 5th is the day when the second intergalactic war ended. To commemorate the ending of the war, all the races involved shot out large laser beams enough to destroy a planet toward any desolate place in the unexplored universe. Who would've known, that the laser beam shot by the Clawk civilization almost hit the primitive civilization of Earth? And who would've known that one of the spaceships that were a button press away from invading Earth unintentionally blocked the laser beam that was headed for the earth?
The answer is quite simple really; no one knew, well except for the only surviving person on the spaceship, Faren. Faren is one of the many people abducted from Earth by the aliens to test the capabilities of the human race. The reason only he survived and the others didn't was because of a certain experiment conducted on him.
Right now, Faren is unconscious in one of the many prison cells on the spaceship specifically built for abductions. The prison cell looked mundane, other than the wall-sized window, it only included basic necessties for a cell such as a toilet, a bed and a forcefield to keep the prisoners in but after the ship was blasted the forcefield broke. Normally in the galaxy prison cells are kitted out with more than just a toilet, bed and a window usually a prison would have things such as air purifiers, vacuum helmets or suits—for races who don't breath air— and entertainment options like radio and TV—it's primitive tech, but it's understandable since it's meant for prisoners.
Faren woke up and looked at his surroundings, dazed.
"A dream?" He mumbled under his breath before shaking his head and rejecting the notion.
In dreams every sense except the sense of smell can be mimicked, however, right now Faren could smell the smell of metal and blood in the air which means this isn't a dream.
"If it isn't a dream then..." Faren was dazed looking at the full-sized Earth through the window with the moon orbiting, and the sun in the background. He could've never imagined that one day he'd be able to witness a sight as breathtaking as this; looking at the planet, star and moon he felt something awaken inside of him.
What awoke was a desire, a desire to explore all the secrets of the universe, map out every star, planet and moon, document all the various races, species and civilizations and most importantly to never forget where he came from.
"WARNING! Ship's internal core damaged! Explosion in T-5 minutes! Please follow the orange line to evacuate!" A robotic voice speaking in a foreign language woke Faren up. There was also a ding sound but Faren ignored it, as he needed to get out of here as soon as possible.
Still feeling slightly dazed, Faren urged his feet to run out the hallway. Fortunately, after a couple of seconds of dazedness, his panic completely woke him up.
The hallway was tiled with white metal plates that look brittle but are in fact very sturdy. If one looks on the ground they would be able to see 3 lines of different colours leading to different locations down the corridor. Faren followed the orange line down the corridor until he reached the hanger.
The hanger contained 3 separate docking bays and 15 storage bays. Faren ignored the docking bays and went straight into the storage bays to pick a spaceship for his journey. Faren wanted to pick his own spaceship for exploring the universe, but unfortunately, there was only one spaceship with a door that was open so that was his only choice.
with only a minute remaining, he quickly powered on the engine and drove out into the endless cosmos.
Faren took this time to relax and think everything over.
The first thing Faren noticed while thinking everything over was his body. Before his abduction, Faren spent most of the time home and not exercising, as a result of that he had a weak body that can barely run on a fast pace for five seconds. On the ship, however, he ran at a really fast speed for a whole 4 minutes without feeling any bit of exhaustion.
"The aliens must've done something to my body" Faren concluded.
The second thing Faren noticed was that the ding after the announcement was weird. When the ding sounded he thought it was part of the announcement, but if that was it then why did it only sound at the end and not the start? If it isn't part of the announcement then what was the ding part of?
"Could it be..." Faren thought hard about the possibility, before finally deciding on something.
"System..." Faren said out loud and waited expectantly for a whole minute before bitterly shacking his head away.
However before he could start thinking about the ding again, he saw the ship exploding from the captain's seat followed by a flash of light in his eyes.
[Ding!
Congratulations on completing your first mission! Here are your rewards:
Escape From The Starship :
The Yunil Starship is on the verge of exploding! Follow the orange line to escape!
Reward: 1000 Knowledge Points]
"So I do have a system!" Faren exclaimed excitedly
Seeing the reward, Faren thought of something before asking to confirm his speculation, "I assume knowledge points can be used to buy things from the system store, yes?"
[Affirmitive]
"Then open the store, please"
The system opened a large list of various knowledge with the least costing up to 50 points and the most a million.
"What a ripoff! Even the basic science knowledge costs a 1000 points? And why does the Cooking knowledge cost more than the science knowledge?" Faren complained.
[Cooking is a more diverse and essential knowledge for surviving on various planets with harsh conditions, science, on the other hand, contains knowledge that will only improve your chance of living by at most 10%.
Do not forget, that the science package you mentioned is only the minor one, if you buy the advanced one, your chances of survival can increase by a 100%]

Faren was startled. Not so because of the realisation that cooking is more useful than science, but more so on how the system was able to form a logical and coherent explanation after being questioned. His impression of the system improved greatly, however when he saw the price of the advanced science knowledge it fell back down to square zero.
Faren shocks his head before deciding to buy three different knowledges.
[Congratulations on successfully buying the Minor Ship Piloting knowledge: Remaining 900 KP]
Faren felt a mysterious aura emanate from around him, before gathering on his head and bursting in with all kinds of knowledge about piloting ships. Instantly, Faren dazedly started to mumble incomplete sentences about piloting.
"...to start a ship you must first press the 'Engine on' button and wait for a couple of minutes, if your..."
"...you must never press the big red button! If you want to kill yourself then you can do it outside your ship, please don't destroy your ship needlessly..."
"...one of the many common features in first-gen ships, is the auto-pilot mode. If you press on the button with a robot face then the ship will automatically..."
Faren continued on with his mumbling for a couple of minutes before he woke up from his daze with a splitting headache.
"Argh, my head hurts! If it's going to be this bad every time I assimilate knowledges then I better be quick with it! I'd rather experience a lot of pain for a short time rather than drag it out over a couple of hours." Faren said before quickly buying the next two knowledges.
[Congratulations on successfully buying the Minor Ship Maintenance knowledge: Remaining 600 KP]
[Congratulations on successfully buying the Minor Survival knowledge: Remaining 0 KP]
This time instead of one, two mysterious auras descended then, as before, gathered into a single focal point and burst into Faren's head with all kinds of knowledge about ship maintenance and survival knowledge.
Maybe it was the side effect of buying two knowledges at once, but this time Faren mumbled for a couple of hours instead of minutes. When he stopped mumbling and woke up, he instantly fainted from the splitting headache and then only woke up a day later.
Horrified, Faren swore to himself to never buy another knowledge ever again, as the process was too painful. Upon seeing this, the system decided to intervene and help its user for once.
[User, if you want to avoid the splitting headache then you need to either increase your Endurance to reduce the pain or increase your intelligence to increase the maximum amount of knowledge your brain can take in at once.]
Seeing this, Faren felt a bit better and thanked his system for the solution.
The next thing Faren wanted to do was ask the system on how to gain knowledge points, however, sensing his intention, the system displayed it before Faren could ask.
[There are two ways to increase your knowledge points :
The first is to increase one of your five stats on the stats window.
The second is to complete various tasks handed out by the system.]
Faren was amazed, "Since when can the system read my mind?" he asked rhetorically.
" Show me my status window" Faren asked.

Ignoring the note, Faren asked, "System why's everything limited to 10?"
[10 is the limit of a human]
"Is there a way to surpass the limit of a human?"
[Yes]
"How?" Faren excitedly asked.
[Please buy Basic Evolution knowledge to find out]
"..." Faren was speechless.
Ever since Faren entered the spaceship he rushed towards the pilot's room and hadn't had the time to fully explore it. Now that he had relaxed enough he decided that there was no harm in exploring the spaceship.
He first began by searching the pilot's room for any weapons he could use, in case there were other people on this ship.
"Although the probability is low, it doesn't hurt being too careful"
Using his Ship knowledge, Faren searched all the places where ship pilot's usually kept their guns, and after a couple of minutes of searching he found it under the pilot's seat. After finding the gun, Faren walked into the dim corridor.
The corridor before Faren walked in, was a dark, cramped space but when Faren walked in the light seemed to have sensed him and automatically lit up the place. Currently, the corridor connects 3 separate rooms, the first one was right behind the pilot's room and inside of it was the ship's fission reactor. The second connected room was adjacent to the first and inside of it were the living quarters.
The third room was the most mysterious, as its door was locked, however, after a shot from the gun, it was pried open. As soon as the door opened, Faren could feel the cold air rushing out from the inside, dropping the temperature in the corridor by a couple of degrees. Turning on the light switch on the door, the room revealed packs of nutrients and water.
"It seems this room is the place where the food is stored" Faren concluded.
Faren looked through all the food and water he had on the ship and calculated how long it would last him.
"Two months" He mumbled.
Faren returned to the pilot's room and set the destination for the nearest hub which was, coincidentally, two months away. After setting the destination the ship automatically started to move towards the cosmos.
Looking at Earth, getting farther and farther away from him, Faren sighed and said. "Goodbye, Earth"
After spending a couple of minutes looking at the Earth, Faren started to exercise his body in hopes of increasing his stats.
