Newborn Guineapig

???Pov: It was silent, dark, and cold where I was. Well, I am still determining where I am and who I am. Not even what I am, just I am. What are these? This feeling of noise in my head? Wait, what is noise or a head? How do I know that? What is know or even I? Wait, these are words and thoughts used to describe things like myself. Okay, so I know this, but how? Was I born with it? Wait, what is born, or even birth? Was that how I was made?

These thoughts continue through my head as I open my eyes? Yes, eyes, that's what you call it. So why are there so many glass things and strange shapes? Is that a picture of a lady? I won't question my knowledge anymore as now I have more pressing matters. It is cold, and I'm not too fond of the cold. It stings and bites. It doesn't feel good. I feel bad it isn't good for my well-being. Maybe I can get another to help? I try to open my mouth to communicate, I guess? All I make is bubbling noises. This is going to be a long while.

I close my eyes after a while of failed attempts to call for help, and my mind drifts into a dark place, and I stop thinking. It was nice for however long. Then there was noise. Loud banging noise. It hurts a bit. Then I see the faces of people? Giants? They are so huge compared to me. I go silent, afraid of them. Maybe they won't see me? They turn to me. What do I do?!?! What do I do?!?! I don't want to end before I even learn who I am. Please don't kill me, giant men. I don't taste good, I promise. They walk towards me. With perplexed looks? Maybe they won't eat me? One reaches down to cover me with a cloth of some kind.

They meander around for a while. Holding up strange glass with colorful liquids to the light, looking through objects and pieces of paper? I don't know, nor do I care. I'm warm now. That is all the knowledge I need. Wait, they seem done with their searching. One leaves with everything, while another starts placing weird-looking sticks on the floor. A third one walks over and lifts me from the table with a worried look. I grab his finger as it gets close to me. We both pause. I feel the heat from it. It is warm. I like warm. I let out a smile. Why did I do that? Does that mean good? Is it gonna get me eaten? He smiles at me. Ah, I guess he liked it. I bubble some more, and he holds me to his chest.

He soon carries me out to a group of giants. One speaks, and I hear the word child. I'm a child? So I know something now. Nice. Then the stick man comes out. They start speaking again. However, I understand none of it. Then, a loud shriek comes from behind us. The place I was in is just a pile of smoke now. Stick Man, what did you Do?!? I bubble angrily at him. He smiles at me. Argh, he can't understand me. You wait, I'll learn to speak and yell at you for... Destroying my spot, yes, that was my cold spot. You can't ruin it without my say-so.

While I'm huffing, they seem to be moving quickly away from the rising smoke. What will happen to me now? It is not like I can do anything about it. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

After a while, I see a stone gate with metal around it. With strange symbols written all around the material. What are those for? They start glowing as we near, and the gate opens forward, lying on the ground. We walk behind it as it closes back up. More giants, holding long sticks with pointy metal bits on the end, appear. Those won't explode, too, will they? Dang, you stick, man. I can never trust sticks again!! I don't want to be roasted!! Why are there so many stick people? I think I heard them mention the word 'Guards.' Oh, they are guards, OK? So they won't blow me up? Oh, what are those open boxes with giants inside further ahead?

As we pass further inside, we reach an area with open boxes on two sides of the street. They have giants giving odd items to others in exchange for shiny squares. They look nice. I reach for some fancy squares, but they are too far away. The giant holding me sees this and says, "Oh, do you like the shops?" with a smile.

"They have all types of things for sale. You give them Troupes in exchange for what you need or want." All this is spoken as we pass people in jumpsuits, coats, dresses, and

Troupes, what the heck are those? As I think this, I hear, "Why are you talking to a baby about money?" from the giant holding papers. "You need to talk them for their development, you know." the giant holding me responded. "Well, don't be too loud about it. We still must report what we found at that traitor Balth's hideout." The other retorted. "Fine, but if they remember this when they're older, you will regret it." The warm giant replied with a smile. All he got was a headshake as we passed past the shops. Shops, what a weird system of trading shiny troupe squares. I swore I saw some explode sticks that stick man had.

The people here are weird. Wait, I see another small person like me swathed in cloth. They're being carried by a giant who looks funny. Wait, that is a lady like the painting I saw before. So the small one is a child. I'm getting the hang of this. There is a sign above them. It says, 'Salamcreati central office' In bright red and gold letters. "Hi honey, Coco and I were waiting for you; ain't that right, Coco." The lady says to stick man as she walks over to him with their child. Ok, how does an explosive stick man have a family? While thinking this, the giant holding me said, "We'll handle the reports; you go spend time with your family." He got a thumbs-up in return.

We entered the building as Stick Man's family walked away, laughing and hugging. People were running about dressed in various robes, uniforms, strange pants, and bits of armor. Seeing all the different people working on many projects in one area was an honest shock. These giants sure are weird. We end up in front of a desk with a man behind it. He looks up from doing paperwork. "So I assume yáll are here to report to the Solomon?" "Yes, sir, we are here to hand over the materials from the search and destroy mission." The warm giant responded. "Also, we have an issue we discovered inside while we were looking for leftover documents." He said rather quickly. The desk man looked at me and said, "I see well, he is available. Go in quickly." He returned to working on his paperwork that said water cleaning budget approval. I think? The giants walked up some stairs to a big wooden door with a strange symbol etched on it.

The giants knock on it and wait. Then a scratchy voice answered, "Come in." Both giants opened the door and walked into the room. I saw a man sitting behind a moon-shaped desk wearing navy robes and a gold and red feather headdress. He had wrinkles and Smelt of smoke, similar to the explosion. He had a long axe on the desk with a hole in the bottom of the handle, and behind the blade was a weird hammer bit with a hole in it. When he saw me, he lit tobacco in the hammer bit. "Okay, I'm going to take a guess. Balth's bunker had more than expected." Warm giant responded, "Yes, Chief Solomon, I discovered this child in the experimentation room while we were raiding for evidence. She has a file about her right here, sir." He hands this Solomon a bunch of paper inside a funny brown paper. He looks it over before saying, "Subject Dyani S 079, huh? Poor girl has been through so much before her first birthday. Balth, my child, what were you thinking?" He became somber before gathering himself. Then he turned towards me. "We will have to put her in the orphanage fo-" "Sir, if I may, I would like to adopt her!" The warm giant suddenly shouted. The old Soloman turned towards him again with a surprised look. " Are you sure? This isn't an easy decision, nor can it be taken lightly." He spoke with a serious tone. The warm giant responded. "Master Lakota, my wife, and I would love to adopt her. Plus, she seems to be an interesting child who I believe will be great someday. I just know it!" He had the most excited expression. I smiled and bubbled a bit. "She seems to agree. What do you say want to daddy's little girl?!" I bubbled again, thinking whatever that meant must be good from the looks around me. While all this is happening, the paper-holding giant has a funny face. He shook his head and said, "You are crazy adopting an unknown girl after not even a day. Whatever. Here is some of the evidence, Chief Solomon. I'll go get the rest sent to R and D." He handed his papers and left in a hurry.

After a while of talk and paper signing that was too fast for me, I was carried to a building by my new Papa. Huh, that sounds nice. This place is supposed to be my new home. I wonder how this will go. It's better than that cold table I couldn't move from. While thinking this, I was brought inside, and there was shouting at my papa by my new mama. Then she started hugging me and cooing at me. This might need a while for me to adjust.
