Dreu had never seen Bayard without an answer. His footman either knew the answer or was hesitant to share what he knew. The unknown being killed dozens of demonic soldiers with each swing of its scythe. The weapon didn’t even have to hit the demons as the force from the swing was enough to kill those too close and stagger those further away. The blast from earlier was a better indication of how strong the being was if it was more serious. Refraining from moving from the castle gate entrance, the being stood there and executed the demonic soldiers until no more demons remained. Even when no more demons approached the gate, the being simply stood its ground at the entrance.
Don’t the demons have a limitless number of soldiers? Dreu asked. How did this being eliminate them all?
Remember when I said the beasts had more similarities to summons like me? Bayard hit his chest plate with his fist. That also applies to the demonic soldiers. They were summoned by those two demonic leaders. They are no longer needed when they no longer serve a purpose. As long as that being stands at the gate entrance, not a single demonic soldier could get through.
Wait, you’re saying they summoned those demons like how I summon you and the others? Do I have a demonic ability? Was one of my ancestors a demon or demoness?
I said something similar. There are major differences between the two, though I wouldn’t be surprised if your ability was taken from the inspiration of the demon ability. As for whether you have demon blood, I highly doubt it. Children of humans and demons have characteristics you lack.
If the demonic soldiers couldn’t do the job, then they can send in the Demonic Scorpions or other stronger creatures, right?
The strength of that being is on a whole different level. I think both Eglallin and Braglames are aware of that.
Then how will those two demons reach the Purificator?
As if in response to that exact question, Braglames and his shadow disengaged from Rowan. Before the Right Arm of Xemir could stop them, darkness appeared beneath him and slowly pulled him down. With his sword pointed at the darkness, Rowan cast a light from the tip and dispelled the darkness when the light made contact. When Rowan looked to find Braglames, the demon was almost upon the other being.
“Shouldn’t you be worried about what Braglames will do to your friend there?” asked Eglallin.

“He’s not quite a friend. More of a brother-in-arms. We serve Xemir as his Left and Right Arms. I’d worry more about your friend.”
The unknown being teleported before the shadow and, with a swing of its scythe, destroyed it. Braglames pivoted his foot to engage the being but his halberd was grabbed by the being as it sidestepped him. The being swung its scythe down at the seemingly defenseless Braglames who summoned a dark shield to guard against the attack. The shield, similar to those used by slingers on their free hand, only held for a few seconds before it gave under the swing. By then, the demon freed his halberd and backed away creating some distance between the two.
“Allow me to introduce you all to the Left Arm of Xemir.” Rowan’s voice echoed in the courtyard. “Once King Azorius, he is now a devout follower to Xemir and has been granted powers elevating him to a demi-god. With us two serving Xemir, humans shall reign supreme!”
With the Left and Right Arms defending the castle, neither Eglallin nor Braglames could get to the Purificator. Their battles became stalemates as the demi-gods ran down the clock. Their battles halted when an enormous source of energy could be felt from within the castle.
“This is where we say farewell, Eglallin.” Rowan bowed to the demoness. “I will miss the entertainment you provide so willingly.”
“Did you think we didn’t come with an escape plan?” Eglallin said as she pulled out a dark crystal.
As the demoness broke the crystal in her palm, Dreu saw a light briefly coming from Azorius’ armor. When his focus returned to the demoness, he could see the panic on the demoness’ face.
“What did you do?” she screamed at Rowan after searching all over the courtyard.
“It’s one of Azorius’ abilities,” said Rowan with a chuckle. “For one use per day, he can cancel out all portals within a kilometer radius of him for five minutes. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that neither you nor Braglames have five minutes.”
“You bastard,” muttered Eglallin.
“I promise you that will be on your epitaph, demoness.”
A second after Rowan spoke, an enormous light erupted from the castle and went outwards. While Dreu’s group were unaffected, the two demonic leaders burst into flames. Despite what they were enduring, neither of the demons cried out in pain nor struggled helplessly. Both collapsed onto one knee and stayed in that position even when their lives were snuffed out.
“A new age has come,” announced Rowan. “The Great Xemir has promised us this day would be here! An age where humans shall reign supreme and become the masters of Ittoroth. The new golden age shall see humans reach new heights. All hail Xemir! All hail, the human race!”
After his announcement, Rowan floated towards Dreu. He sheathed both of his swords and reached out with a hand.
“Descendent of Emperor Gavienus Tobias! I offer you this rare opportunity! King Azorius has given up his throne to be the Left Arm of Xemir. The humans still need a ruler to guide them towards their golden age. Serve Xemir and become the emperor for the people! Become the emperor who will achieve what no humans has achieved before.
