By a stroke of accident, a man discovered what he thought a copper deposit in an uninhabited island in the pacific ocean. Turned out, it was not copper. It was gold and platinum. And apparently it was the largest deposit ever found in the history of mankind.

After dealing with local politics for years, in the year 2010, the Orin Energy and Metal Company (Orin EM) established a remote mining plant in the middle of the small island. After 3 years of planning and 2 years of field construction works, in 2015 the first phase of the construction finished. Billions of dollars have been put in the construction of the camp which size rivals a small town. Due to its remote location, it was equipped with mini hydro plant, heavy vehicle workshop, runway, helicopter pad, several docks and hangars, field hospital, state-of-the-art communication, radar, and weather apparatus and even green houses for plants.

It was nothing but marvelous.

The nearby islanders said that the island is sacred, and was against it. But the capitalism could never be stopped.

The first wave of miners and media crews arrived at the island for the inauguration of the first state-of-the-art independent mining operation facility ever created by man. One hundred miners, one hundred armed officers, one hundred construction workers, one hundred of back office staffs, fifty VIP guests and experts, and one hundred media personnel from thirty different countries arrived at the island.

The day before the inauguration, however, the islander elders came to the group, begging them to postpone the inauguration. They miscalculated the sacred day, said they. The day of inauguration happened to be a very sacred day that happened once every three years. It was the day where two world is intertwined, and it's best to leave the island as soon as possible. During the day, no stone may be turned, no soil be moved.

However, Orin EM believed that it was not possible to change the date of the inauguration, as it was planned to be a live broadcast with tens of millions of viewers around the world. As if it was not enough, it would be marked by the striking of a gigantic steel pile by a three hundred ton jack hammer.

To the dismay of the nearby islanders, the event continued as it was planned.

And thus began the world's greatest mystery.

After the pile was struck to the ground, all the broadcast was cut. The viewers were confused, but not as confused as those who happened to be looking at the event real time with military satellite

There was a large distortion, and everything on the the island was gone.

The news was huge, but after a decade, it died down by itself. That, however, propelled the research of parallel dimension.

Fifty two years later, in the year 2067, the first breakthrough in the parallel dimension research bore fruit. Dr Elizabeth Orin, the granddaughter of the Orin EM founder, managed to detect a possible parallel dimension, and a plan to ripped a path to other dimension.

And so a group of scientists came to the island, now called mystery island, and set up the equipment. The nearby islanders permitted them to do so with the promise of leaving the island the day before the sacred day. The first few days the team were there bore no results whatsoever, but as they approached the sacred day, the signal they received was getting stronger.

And finally, 48 hours before the sacred day, Dr Elizabeth's team managed to established a small dimensional gate. The gate only worked for four minutes, but that was enough for the team to put three probes into the gate.

Three years later, the same group came to the island again, and opened the gate at the same location again. At the moment the gate was established, though no probes arrived back at the location, the streams of data from the probe was received by the terminal. Having been prepared for this scenario, the team quickly downloaded the data to the best of their ability.

By the time they review the data, though, something happened beyond their imagination.

The video showed the lost mining facilities, and then real human in their teens with clothing style that was not exactly common. They looked at the probe, and then picked it. The camera showed that the teens then handed the probe to an older man, which afterwards covered the probe with sack. In a matter of hours, that happened to every probe they sent.

After two hundred and twenty hours of black screen, three of the probes suddenly showed a man in his fifties, with an almost tattered suit.

"Greetings," said the man in the camera in English, "First of all, I am sorry for covering the probes. As you may have already guessed ... we are the descendant of the people on the disappearing island. We called it Loki now,"

After a short pause, he continued

"It seems that earth has finally able to develop inter dimension technology. It is the belief of my father that one day someone will come over and contact us, and we are grateful for it. Earth's technology is after all much more advanced than this world's"

As if it was not shocking enough, he continued

"As you may have already know. About fifty years ago, on earth calendar, our parents were teleported to this dimension. Thankfully, Loki island is designed to be self sufficient, and so we survived. Knowing that there will be years before the technology to merge the two dimension emerged, however, we do some venturing. And for that, we have several answer to the very question that you may have. Is this word habitable by human? Yes it is. The temperature is the same, and the air is breathable by human. Can we move to this dimension to mitigate the population problem? Yes, I think it is possible. Is there a new species? Yes, according to our parent's, there are animals and plants that existed here but not in the earth. And last ... is there any intelligent being living in this world? The answer for that, is also yes,"

He cleared his throat and then begin again

"During fifty years here, we have many interactions with the other inhabitants of this world, and get to know some of their culture. We do believe that while their race is slightly different than us and their technology is not as advanced, they and us are the same. Ms Lena here, for example," said he

Then the camera showed a pretty lady with a pointed ear

"She was a resident of Mora, a harbor town in the main continent of Zulu. And is my wife."

"We have a lot of stories to tell. However, before we continue, we would like to negotiate. I think it is important for your ruler to decide first, what nationality we are, and what is our right. Whether we are protected by Earth's law, and considered to have the same human rights. And also ... the status of the native inhabitant of this world, and mixed blood among us. Only after knowing that, we will continue to negotiate and tell you our stories and what happened in the fifty years we are here."

Afterwards, the camera went black again, this time for good

After recovering from the shock, Dr Elizabeth makes several important calls. Within a matter of hours, the whole world was once again in an uproar.
