Then he heard the door squeak and a thunk. He immediately snapped his attention to the door. Looking he saw it was partially closed when he searched the body he shifted its location so its foot blocked the door from totally closing he edged to the door looking at the edges to see if anything was there, he saw a shadow that was moving under the door. He would throw himself at the door stunning the person behind it giving him time to strike. He braced himself and threw himself at the door slamming it open as he nearly passed the door it pushed back with such force it threw him across the hallway into the last door luckily the door was open, so I just slammed into something soft on the floor but the crack from my back told me my crossbow was done for. Looking up from my prone position I saw what threw me with such power along with a quest window.

It walked on two legs standing around six feet tall, with arms that ended in long clawed hands, its face a smooth surface save for its two glowing eyes, and its body was made of a red liquid that he at once could tell was blood. This was a Blood Elemental from what he remembered of them they were a mimicry by eldritch beings of what an elemental was, their primary attack was ripping with their claws and could only be damaged by magical weapons or attacks. Luckily it was as smart as a cockroach, a retarded cockroach, a retarded lobotomized cockroach, making its attacks predictable and easy to take advantage of. Due to my picks when I leveled up my choices for offense were Bob and my Long Dagger was my only choice, and my dagger was currently somewhere else since it fell when he was thrown. It had dropped out of my hand landing somewhere and tearing my eyes away I searched for my dagger and was horrified at what had broken my fall a body ripped in half scrambling across the floor away from the body he saw his dagger embedded in the center of the floor.
He dived for it picked up the knife and came up to a crouch, the elemental flowed rather than walked into the room its feet moving as if they were skating on ice, it grabbed the doorframe as it entered the room its eyes sweeping the room coming to me gleaming malevolently. I held my left hand in a fist and summoned Bob throwing him in a curve which Bob followed in his flight coming around to the back of the elemental the familiar began dragging its talons into the target's back while continuing its flight. The elemental whirled around to see who attacked it but by that time Bob was already gone but presented me an advantage to attack its back.
He swung his dagger at its back it easily sunk in cleaving open a section that splattered blood over him from the oozing hole on its back, it swung its hand in a sweep to hit but this time I was prepared for it while swinging the blade I had ducked its swipe breezed past my head making a whoosh sound as it passed by. I hoped back as Bob made another attack on its back, but something was wrong Bob was wobbling in the air like part of its metaphysical body was taking damage I glanced at the long dagger and found that it was smoking and the area that was splattered with blood was starting to pit.
He looked at his clothes luckily they seemed to be holding up a lot better than Bob so he feared what the blood would do to exposed skin. The flurry of movement brought the creature back to his attention the elemental had turned its back again to attack a weakened Bob, he needed to finish this before the long dagger broke from the blood. He lunged again striking at its back splattering more blood and almost cutting the elemental in two as the cut connected with the first one.
The top part of the torso of the elemental was flopping around precariously sadly this worked to the elemental's advantage as it flopped down, its swing had longer reach slamming me into the side slamming me into the dresser by the door. A crunching sound coming from my chest suggested I broke something probably a rib, from how muddled my head was with its ringing A concussion may not be unlikely. The final blow did not come as expected I forced the vision from Bob to fill my mind, fighting the need to vomit he could see that Bob was still fighting forgoing going for sneak attacks and striking directly at the elementals eyes.
I needed to capitalize on this before the situation got worse and he was too messed up to fight right now. He needed time to recover he needed to get out of this room, He took stock of his position the elemental thrashing trying to hit Bob was to his left and the door was straight passed it. He stumbled and crawled to the door passing inches from the elemental's legs, when he finally passed it he stood up and rushed through the door. This time he failed to keep his stomach down, He made a mess of his beard, but a problem better left for a non-life-threatening moment.

He continued to go through the upstairs hallway till he got to the stairs heading down to the ground floor if only he could keep his balance and not fall, he would be golden. Suddenly he felt his connection with Bob was cut off and a cold chill flashed up his spine at the realization the elemental got him, Bob had been banished. He was on his own in a very disadvantaged position, he sped up his hopping down the stairs taking them three at a time to get down.
By the time he got to the bottom, his head stopped swimming, he could run through the door but the likelihood of this thing catching him was high. His best option was a sneak attack, he stumbled to the dining room plastered himself next to the doorway, and waited. The moments crawled as I heard it splash down the stairs, the wait was excruciating as I waited. Then its clawed hand came around holding the doorframe and it snaked its body around the corner as its head passed the doorframe, he lunged up slicking through its neck and as it reared up, he ducked forward and swung for its middle again slicing through the last bit of its body causing it to collapse as the bottom part of its body turned to inert blood. The top part slammed into the floor and began to try to get its claw purchase and gain orientation, but I was not giving it the chance I took the dagger and took it twice to its neck till it separated from the main body. Having received so much damage it rest of the body collapsed into inert blood.

He stepped out of the room collapsing by the stairs; his chest hurt, his lungs burned, and his head was pounding. He reached into his pouch again hoping that the healing potions weren't broken luckily one of the remaining vials was not broken. He ripped off the lid and downed it; he felt his head and some of the pain from his chest ease up. He took a minute to breathe his wound wasn't healed fully by no means he would have to see a healer or a Doctor Class Holder to do that. He took stoke of his situation covered in blood, suit saw better days, and his Long Dagger which he was very proud to own was a smoking wreck with burn holes through it; tapping it against the floor resulted in it shattering, a dwarf can't get a break.
He knew half the mystery the Watch was held back because the director was tunneling to the dungeon, if this got out that this company had partly been responsible for cults taking over one of their operations and releasing a stampede on Haven it would face massive backlash loss of backing, loss of work, and I bet you that angry mobs and the attention of the Holy See are far most in front of their minds right now. They would go to extreme lengths now to cover this up, he got up groaning from the pain in his chest. They were going to have to keep this as quiet as they could so they would need to silence the miners and with the current situation, they would force their way into the mine as soon as possible.
He needed to get there first to see if he could save the miners while the company dealt with the cultists but how? Wait they broke through the sewers when they were beginning their descent he could use one of these to bypass the mine entrance and the company and enter the tunnel proper. Groaning he climbed the stairs again powering through the ache in his chest wondering how many he broke; he reached the study again. The door looked was hanging on by one hinge while the center of the door had a dwarf-sized dent and crack in it, he was lucky that a concussion and a couple of broken ribs were all he had to worry about.
He entered the study and headed to the desk again finding the maps he reviewed them again, two points they had two points that they broke through into the sewers. If he followed the map he would get around a majority of the company soldiers, but what about the rest of them? He looked at his clothes ripped heavily bloodied and very noticeable. Luckily, he had replacements he looked at the body at the door the body was just around his size, and he began taking off the broken crossbow, blood-covered coat, and vest throwing each to the side. Leaving him with only slightly bloody pants and shirt, he began taking off the armor off the corpse's shoulder guards, body armor, and leg armor seemed to be made of some kind of chitin material and dyed tan. While borrowing with no intention of returning the armor, he found a tactical axe still strapped on and some healing potions. The tactical axe held a crescent blade on one side and a hammer head on the other, it was a single piece of metal with a wrap made of some kind of leather. It was not magical like his Long Dagger, but it would do, maybe this is a sign he needs to stay away from non-Dwarvish weapons, something to think about later.
Suiting up he checked himself he did not look that dissimilar from the fallen soldier, and hopefully, the soldiers in the tunnel would think the same. He pulled the axe from the loop on the body armor and gave it a few swings “Yep, still got it.” he wasn’t rusty. He went to the bathroom gave his hair and beard a rinse to get some of the blood and vomit off and headed for the front door.
His hopes of getting there in the protective rays of the sun were soon crushed as when he reached the door he noticed the sun falling past the horizon. Every warning about the things that go bump in the night flashed through his head warnings about creatures making it to the surface from the dungeons and worse. He would have to risk the night with all its dangers if he wanted to get those miners out. He prayed that he would survive long enough to reach them shutting the door behind himself.
