Breathe

I couldn’t move, was the first thing I noticed. Well, that’s not correct, I could move my claws, more like slightly wiggle them around, but my body was encased in the liquid. For some reason, there was a point where the liquid turned less liquid and more like a solid. I poked at it with a talon, the solid liquid didn’t budge.

I continued to press against it, eventually trying with all my strength. I could feel a bit of give, but it didn’t move. This time, I was about to strike it, until I started feeling, what’s it called… vibrations. These vibrations caught my attention, a steady amount of it coming through the solid.

I could feel it against my body, it had an oddly nice feeling to it. It calmed me down, it felt good. ‘Maybe it isn’t so bad to be in here.’ Was a thought that crossed my head. That is until the vibrations got a little worse, becoming less steady and soothing and more jarring and quicker.

‘Staying in here maybe isn’t the best idea.’ I quickly decided. I started with my attack on the solid liquid, each strike coming with a satisfying effect of the sound of something cracking.

I stopped my strikes for a second, reaching out to feel the part that I had struck. I pushed against it, but it still didn’t give. It was weaker, however. I readied another strike, when I heard noise, muffled noise. It was close too, that could be bad.

‘Danger seems to be everywhere after I entered this forsaken liquid.’ I mused. ‘Staying in here while I wait for the noise to stop sounds like a much better idea.’ I thought.

The vibrations still continued, growing worse with every passing second.

I could still hear the noise, maybe this was the source of these vibrations. ‘Perhaps not, the vibrations started before the noise.’ I wistfully wondered. ‘Would be better if whatever was doing it went back to what they were doing earlier. Actually, should I go out?’ I thought, hesitating.

The noises died down a bit after, but the vibrations continued. ‘Well, whatever the noise was, it’s gone now. Perhaps the vibrations are good.’ I wondered.

‘I only felt danger when the noise started, so perhaps the vibration is good.’ I concluded. Following that conclusion, I struck the same spot once more, crack, the sound louder than before. I pressed against it once more, it was weak, and I pressed against it.

My claw finally made it through the solid, and an unexpected cold enveloped my my claw and the arm that followed. I writhed inside my containment, I clawed against the outside of the solid liquid. I managed to free my other claw as well and felt the burning cold envelope that arm as well.

I simply couldn’t think straight, I blindly followed whatever my instinct told me, the only thing on my mind being stopping this agony. I clawed and pounded against my constraints containing the rest of my body.

The noise had returned, louder than ever, but I didn’t care. I could only focus on getting OUT!I could feel the solid liquid getting weaker and weaker as I pressed my head against it.

It eventually gave, the same icy cold gripping me before I could open my eyes. The noises were almost right next to me, but I couldn’t care less. I continued to follow my instincts, and took in a deep breath, it was agonizing. ‘I… can’t… BREATHE!’
