SAVING Senko-san

SAVING Senko-san

I receive the fateful message.

“Senko-san is mine. I took her into my body. I’ve claimed her as my waifu, and you’ll never have her back.”

A cold wave surges through my body as I sit in my chair. Senko-san? My one and only waifu? Claimed by some fool? No, this is unacceptable. I won’t accept it. I can’t accept it! If I accept it, then what’s the purpose of life? What’s the purpose of life if Senko-san can’t pamper me?

With a sudden movement, I force my chair out from under me, knocking it onto its back as I jump to my feet. Looking around, I quickly survey my options. Every second this evil woman has claimed Senko-san, the closer she grows away from me. I can feel my bond to her fading already.

No. No!

“NO!” I yell desperately, stumbling over the clothes coating my dirty floor in a mad dash to my overflowing dressers.

Without even thinking, I pull out the entire top drawer from the dresser, throwing it onto my bed with inhuman strength. Vast amounts of framed, busty anime girls spill out onto my bed - shattered glass from a frame spills into the drawer below, a few small cuts appearing on my hands.

Ignoring them all, and dig my hand deep into the back of the dresser. I find a small knob, and fumble around with shaky fingers before managing to pull open a small, sliding wooden door, revealing a hidden compartment.

A blue, glowing orb sits in a glass case, a miniature iron hammer sat next to it. Above the hammer is a sign, “DO NOT USE UNLESS SENKO-SAN IS BEING TAKEN BY AN UNNAMED CERTAIN SOMEONE.”

I pause, my breath catching in my throat. We all know that you’re bound by law to follow what signs say. Punishable by death. As panicked as I am, I have to make sure this situation calls for The Orb.

Is that unnamed certain someone involved? Yes.

Is Senko-san being taken? Fuck, she’s already been taken. I can’t use the hammer. It’s time for desperate measures.

Ignoring the hammer, I reach inside, punching the glass case with my bare fist. It shatters into a million tiny pieces, everything moving almost in slow motion. Before the first almost invisible shard lands, I grab The Orb, and my vision tunnels.

Power soars through me, and I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to force it down so that it doesn’t kill me. I clutch it tightly, pulses of light tinted blue flowing over my skin, glowing through my clothing. The picture of Senko-san on my shirt pulses a bright blue for a moment, and as it fades, her eyes remain glowing.

As I slowly open my eyes in turn, I speak. “Senko-san...” I shiver, blinking hard as the power settles, my body seeming to be in a buzz. Opening my hand feels impossible, my fingers locked in place around the glowing ball. “Is... mine...”

Opening my eyes, I explode forward. What feels like a step takes me miles away, a massive rush of wind left in my wake as my body pushes the air ahead of me out of the way in an instant. I don’t even feel my wall as I break through it, and when I stop, I’m standing in the middle of what seems to be a cornfield.

Turning around, I see an explosion of dust and vegetation explode into the air, a large rush of wind blasting me in the face. I’m unwavering, the strange orb’s power continuing to give me inhuman strength.

I turn my head in an instant, my eyes locking onto the house of the one who stole my perfect Senko-san through the tall stalks of corn.  Without even appearing to move, I blast forward, the amount of force I use calculated as the world slows down around me.

A new pulse of power flows through my body, accompanied by a familiar flash of blue light. Unlike the smooth waves of seconds past, it appears like jagged cracks stemming out of the eyes of the beautiful Senko-san on my shirt. It runs all along my body, branching out and surrounding me. I feel no pain, my vision getting clearer and my steps becoming more certain.

Time seems to stop, my love for Senko-san going above the limitations of the physical world. That text continues to haunt my mind. It destroys my senses, leaving me knowing of nothing but my destination. I can’t allow that monster to steal my waifu. She’s all I have left. All I have left after... the accident.

My vision seems to glow red, and I yell in emotional agony, before launching myself back towards their lair. I don’t turn around as I come to a stop in their small yard, not even as I hear the loud explosion behind me.

Effortlessly I leap onto their roof, the front door being far too far away from their disgusting room. I don’t attempt to break through the ceiling, instead letting my will send a rush of pressurized air blasting through the base of my feet, allowing me to fall inside.

As the dust settles around my body, I slowly turn my head to face the evil one bent over their computer.

They look up at me, their eyes betraying their fear. “Y-You can’t have her!” they exclaim, hugging their body as if to keep Senko-san trapped within. “She’s mine, I claimed her! You’d have to k-kill me! A-And, you wouldn’t do that, now would you?”

Their tone didn’t match their face. The confidence they attempted to convey was offset by the tears. I don’t move a muscle as deep blue lasers fire out of the eyes of the Senko-san within my shirt, passing through their body as if it wasn’t even there.

They freeze in place, their breath caught in their throat. Looking down, I watch as their face runs through a variety of emotions, not moving a muscle as the bright beams of light continue to cut through them.

Fear. Horror. Anger. Confusion. And then, acceptance. They look up at me as if to say something, but they have no air to use to speak.  As the deadly beams of light slow, I take a step forward, catching their body as they slump forward. Grabbing them by the shoulder, I throw them onto their bed, their body as light as a feather to my ascended self.

Slowly looking them over, I chuckle. They aren’t dead, they simply believe they are. The shock of seeing someone as perfect and amazing as me caused them to pass out, the beams of light made them believe their time was up. But the light was harmless, that fool. I’m here for Senko-san. Not murder.

I stretch my hand out over them, and the cracks of light that cover  my body flow out of my palm and into the air. The immaterial, absence of space destroying the fabric of reality in order to latch onto the body of the one who stole Senko-san from me. As soon as the crack makes contact with the body of this foul heathen, it wastes no time branching out, covering their body the same way it covered mine.

But there’s no power being given.

It’s my one and only waifu being taken back.

Senko-san’s eyes once more glow brightly, and in turn, the cracks expand. The grow in width, the body of my fainted “friend” soon appearing to be 2D sheet of blue. As soon as it’s enveloped, I clench my hand shut, and the split is immediate. Out of the blue outline that monster has been reduced to, comes the true Senko-san, wrapped in the blue cracks as though wrapped in a close embrace.

As soon as she’s lifted out, I cradle her against my large body, smiling softly though my eyes continue my betray my latent fury. As the blue glow fades from the monster who stole her, the deep blue cracks slide back through reality and into my palm.

I stare down at the body of the Sleeping Horror, since no person who steals another’s waifu should be called Beauty, for only a few seconds - seconds I’ll never get back - before making my way out of their room. I don’t even cast a second glance at their family as I stroll through their house, ignoring every yell of, “I’ve called the police, stay right there!”

My waifu, precious Senko-san, is safe.
