Volume I - Prologue

Her nimble fingers danced across the control panel of the mechanized unit, her movements precise and deliberate as she maneuvered through the treacherous night sky. A heavy thunderstorm raged around her, casting dark shadows and unleashing torrents of rain that pelted against the metallic frame of the machine — lightning streaked across the heavens, illuminating the tempestuous scene with brief flashes of brilliance. With each flick of a switch and gentle push of a button, she expertly guided the mech through the turbulent atmosphere. The machine, towering at a majestic height of ten meters, resembled a guardian sentinel braving the storm's wrath — its colored combat armor glistened with rainwater, reflecting the occasional burst of lightning as if it were a celestial being adorned in ethereal plating.

"Auria," her voice, soft and serene, resonated within the cockpit, mingling with the hum of the machinery and the rhythmic patter of the rain against the metal frame of the unit. "Status report, please…"

A small holographic model of a young woman materialized above one of the projectors — long, flowing blonde hair cascaded gracefully down her back, the glasses on her face granted her an air of intellectual sophistication.

"Of course, Commander." Her personal operator responded, her tone precise and devoid of embellishment. "I regret to inform you that my attempts to pinpoint the location of the anomalies have thus far been… unsuccessful. Fortunately, I managed to amass a significant amount of information that may prove instrumental in our pursuit — information such as the series of patterns hidden within the anomalies themselves. By subjecting this data to analysis and employing the principles of triangulation, I believe we may be able to determine the exact coordinates of these disturbances. All the necessary information have been compiled and sent to your private terminal for your personal review."

"Oh? Well done…" She acknowledged with a warm smile, her fingers reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair behind her ear before returning to the control panel, resuming her deft manipulation of the complex array of switches and levers. "Is it account bound?"

"Yes, Ma'am. As per your initial request, I've taken the liberty to ensure that any information gathered remains exclusively accessible through your private account. It has been encrypted with multiple layers of security protocols to ensure its confidentiality, all of which require your unique credentials to unlock. Temporary links have also been established between said terminal and the computer onboard the AIS if you wish to peruse the information immediately."

"Stellar as always," lines of code cascaded across the computer's screen as she typed in her credentials; soft, blue light emanated from the holographic keyboard, illuminating her delicate features as the monitor lit up, unveiling a display of data visualizations and advanced algorithms. "Thank you, Auria."

"You're welcome, Commander."

"Hmm…" She let out a contemplative hum, her eyes narrowing slightly as she briefly processed the wealth of information relayed by young artificial intelligence. "Well, I suppose such things is to be expected when dealing with matters related to D-Factor." Shaking her head slightly, she refocused her attention on the task at hand. "No matter… the entire situation is not so dire that it necessitates our immediate intervention. It may not be the best course of action, but I believe it would be fine if we just deal with the problem as they come."

With a gentle nudge of the control sticks and a deft pressure on the pedals, she adjusted the trajectory of the machine; the powerful thrusters roared with intensity as the mechanized unit began to descend. It cuts through the layers of clouds like a swift arrow, leaving behind trails of vapor that dissipated into the atmosphere. A barren landscape revealed itself in all its desolate grandeur through the monitors embedded within the cockpit as soon as the veil of clouds started to part; several clusters of imposing mountains — all of them stretching across the horizon — stood as formidable sentinels guarding the secrets of this northernmost region of the continent.

The Dragon Valley…

Even after so long, the ancient battlefield continued to stand as a silent witness to the trials faced by all who traversed its treacherous terrains, a sprawling testament to the past conflicts and the unyielding resilience of the land. Every crack in the earth tells a story of struggle and sacrifice, with remnants of shattered armor and broken weapons strewn amidst the rocky outcrops like forgotten relics.

She navigated through the narrow passes between the towering mountains, her eyes sweeping across the valleys and crevices that intersected the land with an air of indifference. They appeared as mere scratches upon the surface of this desolate expanse — scars left behind by battles waged long ago. The soil, cracked and parched, mirrored the harshness of the environment, its aridity further accentuated by the occasional gusts of wind that carried with it traces of sulfur, hinting at the presence of the legendary dragon that continued to rule over these lands.

Releasing the pressure on the pedals, she brought the mechanized unit to a halt above the mouth of a massive cavern, its darkness yawning below like a bottomless abyss. The numerous cameras mounted on the upper segment of the unit's exterior zoomed in, every single one of them hidden beneath a glowing visor; they captured the void with meticulous clarity, their lenses penetrating the darkness and revealing the lair of an ancient beast. A gradual shift occurred within the abyss — a subtle movement that hinted at a profound presence awakening from its slumber. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, a single, luminous eye materialized from the depths; its golden iris a swirling maelstrom of molten gold. It gleamed with an eerie intensity, a surge of energy — raw and untamed — pulsed through the creature's massive form, emanating an aura of primal power and malevolence that caused the very air to tremble in its wake.

"Nevertheless," she spoke softly, a tranquil voice brimming with curiosity; her gaze, unyielding and steady, locked with the luminous eye of the ancient monstrosity. "Are you certain that the source of these… anomalies, does not originate from this beast?"

"I'm afraid not, Commander." The young artificial intelligence responded, her tone calm and measured, each word carefully chosen to convey both clarity and precision. "While they are certainly related, the signatures present within the disturbances exhibit variations that do not align with the energy resonances emitted by the dragon."

The creature chose to remain in the shadows, radiating a palpable caution from its very being. It seemed to remember their previous encounter, a clash where it had unleashed its fury upon her, only to be met with a resolute defense that left it defeated and wounded. That memory must have etched itself deep within the dragon's consciousness, an awareness that compelled it to exercise restraint in the face of potential danger; one of its eyes — scarred and devoid of vision — continued to stare at her with a mix of wariness and trepidation.

"That is… unfortunate." A weary sigh escaped her lips as she contemplated her next course of action. "I had hoped for a breakthrough in our investigation, but I suppose it is not surprising given the complexity of the situation we find ourselves in."

She pondered the risks and benefits amidst the raging tempest, her mind weighing the potential outcomes with a meticulous thoughtfulness befitting her station as one of the two Guardians of the Oracle Fleet. Engaging and killing the beast without a clear purpose would only serve to invite unnecessary attention; a course of action she would rather not take in her current predicament, especially considering the possibility of an extended stay on this unfamiliar planet… and that is without mentioning the fact that their previous clash has undoubtedly attracted the gaze of both the so-called deities and the inhabitants of this realm. Any further actions on her part would merely exacerbate the already burgeoning attention she had inadvertently garnered, leading to potentially dire consequences.

'Though it's not like it would matter much in the end…'

Rain pounded against the visor of her mech, blurring her view of the outside world as she finally came to a decision. With a swift motion, she grasped the controls and steered the machine into action — the storm continued to rage around her, unleashing its wrath in lightning bolts that illuminated the darkened sky. Metal joints groaned in response as the unit pivoted, its stabilizers retracting with a mechanical whir; the thrusters flaring to life in a magnificent display as she initiated a swift ascent with an exhilarating surge of power — its light casting a resolute radiance against the storm's murky veil.

"I'm returning to base," her voice echoed throughout the cockpit, carrying with it a soothing melody that contrasted sharply against the fury of the tempest. "Please prepare the ship for my arrival."

"I… as you wish, Commander."

"… you hesitates. Is there something wrong?" she inquired, her tone laced with a gentle concern that unveiled the underlying essence of a nurturing soul; the dragon continued to observe her movement without doing anything, allowing her to leave unchallenged. "No need to hold back, Auria. You have my permission to speak freely."

"Then I… then I believe I must first apologize, Commander." The young artificial intelligence responded with a slight bow of her head, her words flowing forth with a mix of gratitude and unease. "I simply… I find it difficult to dismiss the potential consequences of leaving the dragon unattended, especially given the magnitude of its power compared to the inhabitants of this world." She paused, her voice trailing off momentarily as she collected her thoughts, appearing to be searching for the right words to convey her concerns without overstepping her boundaries. "Shouldn't we… reconsider our course of actions?"

"I understand your concerns," she replied with a tender smile, her voice laced with reassurance. "But it is crucial to remember that at the moment, we are nothing more than guests in this world; outsiders who have stumbled upon a realm with its own balance and dynamics. While the power of the beast may seem overwhelming to the denizens of this world, it is also a part of their existence — a challenge that they, as its inhabitants, must ultimately conquer on their own." Her fingers danced across the series of panel as she leaned back into her seat, the hum of the engines and the rhythmic patter of the rain against the metal frame providing for an admittedly comforting backdrop to their conversation. "However, should the people of this world prove themselves… incapable, of overcoming this trial, then I'm certain that we have the capacity to rise to the occasion and defeat the dragon ourselves."

While she did appear to be satisfied with her answer, there was a lingering flicker of uncertainty in her eyes, a hint of dissent that betrayed her unspoken thoughts. The subtle shift in her expression, the faint furrowing of her brow, and the hesitation that clung to her every move — everything she sensed told her that the AI remained unconvinced, that her logical and analytical mind continued to grapple with the implications of their actions, seeking a path that aligned with her sense of duty and responsibility.

"You don't seem to agree…"

"I… admit that I failed to comprehend." Her personal operator's voice faltered for a moment, her eyes darting around with a mix of determination and uncertainty before she decided to continue. "While your reasoning is sound, I cannot help but feel that it is our duty as members of ARKS to confront and defeat such creatures, especially if they have already been affected by the destructive impulse of the D-Factor. Based on my calculations, the dragon itself would most likely succumb to its corrupting influence within the next ten years, therefore transforming it into a Falz Candidate." Another pause followed as the AI gathered her thoughts and tried to choose her words with the utmost care. "I do not mean to question your judgment or undermine your authority, Commander, but wouldn't it be better for us if we intervene before it reaches that point?"

"You do raise a valid point, and I commend your unwavering dedication to our cause. As members of ARKS, we are indeed tasked with safeguarding any realms we encounter, no matter how unfamiliar they may be." A flicker of relief passed through the newborn artificial intelligence's eyes, a glimmer of hope that her concerns had been acknowledged. "However, we must also consider both the capabilities and the resilience of the people who call this world their home." She continued, her voice resonating with a blend of warmth and authority, carrying with it a wisdom that stemmed from years of experience. "If we were to intervene without allowing the denizens of this world the chance to face this trial themselves, we risk robbing them of their own strength and potential growth… and to do so would be nothing more than a display of arrogance on our part."

"Regardless, Commander, ARKS' Operation Guidelines clearly stated that-"

"The guidelines," the disagreement on the young AI's lips halted abruptly as she raised her hand, a gesture imbued with both gentle assurance and a hint of understanding. "Are simply just that — guidelines. They provided us with a framework for our actions, a reference point from which we may navigate the challenges we encounter." A serene smile graced her lips as she met the artificial intelligence's gaze with an unwavering clarity, her eyes filled with an unmistakable sense of wisdom that belied her youthful appearance. "In the end, they are not the absolute rules you believed them to be. After all, if we really were to adhere strictly to the guidelines without question, then ARKS would never have embarked on the perilous mission to free Matoi from her predetermined fate, breaking the shackles of destiny that bound her and giving her a new chance at life. We would never have attempted to save a Dark Falz from an eternity of suffering, extending compassion to a being so consumed by darkness and offering her a glimmer of hope at redemption. And most importantly, we would never have dared to face the Profound Darkness head-on, defying all odds and triumphing over the embodiment of ultimate chaos and destruction."

She allowed her words to settle in the air, their weight carrying the essence of countless battles fought and won, of lives changed and destinies rewritten… and amidst all this, the young AI remained silent, her stoic demeanor giving way to a flicker of contemplation.

"There is a reason why ARKS granted you the gift of free will, Auria. They did not bestow it upon you so that you can simply follow a predefined set of protocols and guidelines, but rather to navigate the intricate webs of morality, compassion, and judgment that will shape your very existence." She shifted her gaze back to the outside world, her eyes glancing at the rivulets of water trickling down the camera lens, each one distorting the view of the storm-ravaged landscape beyond. "You are more than a mere observer or executor of commands; you are a unique being with the capacity to think, to feel, and to understand — to make choices that extend far beyond the confines of mere programming."

"I… will endeavor to take your words into further consideration." The voice that came from the AI quivered slightly, her holographic form flickering for a moment as she grappled with her own doubts. "If you'll excuse me, Commander, it appears that there is a discrepancy in the data logs that necessitates further investigation, and as the designated overseer of system integrity, it is imperative that I rectify this matter immediately."

The holographic projection started to wane in intensity as the artificial intelligence struggled to find a reasonable excuse for her sudden departure; the soft hum of the projectors reverberated through the cockpit as she finally retreated, seeking solace within the depths of her digital realm.

Leaning back into her seat, she couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle, wondering if the AI couldn't have conjured a more convincing excuse — a gentle amusement twinkling in her eyes as she looked at the now inert projector.

'Oh, the innocence of youth…' She mused inwardly, her chuckle growing into a warm laugh that unfurled like a delicate melody in the midst of the tempestuous storm. 'May you forever remain a beacon of purity, untainted by the harsh realities of existence.'

----------------------------------------

The storm had only just now started to relent, its fierce winds and torrential rain giving way to a tranquil night sky adorned with a tapestry of twinkling stars. Through the remnants of darkened clouds, a radiant moon emerged, casting a faint, ethereal glow that bathed the island in its silver luminescence; a celestial spotlight illuminating a piece of paradise that lay beneath.

Perfect waterfalls cascaded down a rugged cliff; their flows shimmered beneath the gentle touch of moonbeams, each droplet sparkling like a diamond in the night. The lush jungle, drenched in a silver glow, came alive with vibrant hues of emerald and jade — a verdant sanctuary where nature's symphony whispered in gentle tones. Their leaves wove an intricate pattern against the moonlit canvas while shadows played upon the forest floor, creating an enchanting interplay of darkness and light; in secluded clearings, delicate flowers blossomed, their petals aglow with the moon's tender caress. Crystalline lagoons gleamed like liquid mirrors from beyond the jungle's depths, their tranquil surfaces reflecting the serene countenance of the moon — their still waters radiated a captivating glow while creatures of the night emerged from their slumber, their eyes reflecting an ethereal silver radiance as they ventured forth into the nocturnal realm. Hundreds, if not thousands of bioluminescent organisms emitted a soft, mesmerizing light as they greeted the arrival of the night, illuminating the underwater world with a mystical aura that captivated the senses.

"I have arrived at point Naverius," her voice cut through the communication channel, resonating with the assurance of a seasoned commander. "Awaiting the transmission of coordinates."

"Understood, Commander. Sending the ship's current coordinates." The AI were quick to acknowledge her request; a message appearing on one of the monitors in a matter of moments, displaying the precise coordinates of their current base.

"Coordinates received." A moment of focused assessment followed as her sharp eyes scanned the message, aligning the numbers and algorithms with her surroundings. "Match confirmed. I'm proceeding back to the ship. ETA is one minute."

"Affirmative. ETA is one minute."

She glides through the night sky, her gaze sweeping across the breathtaking landscape that unfolded before her like a tapestry of dreams; her eyebrows raising in mild surprise as she catches the sight of a magnificent structure nestled near the base of a small mountain — an architectural masterpiece in the making that resonated with the essence of ancient traditions and timeless elegance. The silhouette of the building emerged gracefully against the sylvan backdrop, its structural frames visible through the translucent veils of the construction site; each one possessing a gentle, sloping curve that mirrored the rolling hills of the surrounding landscape. A row of slender columns stood like sentinels, their edges adorned with delicate lattice-work, hinting at the intricate patterns that would soon grace its form — a homage to the rich heritage from which it drew inspiration.

'That was… faster than expected.'

While she did agree with the young AI's suggestion regarding the construction of a second base of operation, she had not expected the entire process to progress at such a rapid pace. Then again, perhaps such things are to be expected, especially considering the capabilities of their little helpers — those eager, floating balls of utility.

Shaking her head slightly, she guided her machine towards a certain point located a short distance away from the island, bracing herself as the mechanized unit started to breach the boundary and crash into the abyss with a resounding splash. The force of the impact sent ripples echoing across the tranquil water as the machine's sleek, streamlined form plunged deeper into the ocean; its powerful thrusters propelling it forward as the world beneath the surface revealed itself before her eyes, an uncharted realm teeming with life and mystery. Sunken ruins — remnants of a forgotten civilization — lay scattered on the ocean floor like fragments of a lost history while schools of colorful fish darted through the crystal-clear waters, their vibrant scales catching the glimmering rays of the moon; delicate coral reefs adorned the seabed, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of textures and hues.

The ship gradually came into view as she descends deeper into the aquatic expanse — an immense extraterrestrial vessel concealed deep within the embrace of the ocean's depths. Despite the visible signs of damage, she could see its entire form glistening under the ambient glow of the ocean, its majestic presence accentuated by the play of ethereal blue orbs that continued to dance across its slightly battered metallic surface; several rows of photon thrusters, positioned strategically along its frame, emanated a soft, pulsating light, hinting at the ship's dormant power.

With practiced precision, she maneuvered her mech towards the front of the ship, her eyes scanning over the numerous scars that marred its once-pristine exterior. A sizable hatch began to split down the middle, each section smoothly sliding to the sides and revealing the expansive compartment within — their edges illuminated by a soft, sporadic glow, courtesy of the partially functional integrated LED strips. She lessened the pressure on the pedals and allowed the thrusters to gradually reduce their power, turning off the weapon system as the unit glided effortlessly through the opening; a thud resonated throughout the chamber as soon as the feet of her mech touched the floor.

She steered her unit through the spacious corridor as the hatch began to close behind her; an entire passage fortified by a complex network of gates, designed not only to prevent the escape of precious air into the void of space, but to also serve as a safeguard against the intrusion of water should it ever be necessary. However, while they did help in ensuring the integrity of the ship's internal environment, the design itself had encountered its own set of challenges and complications. She remembered how a few veterans among the members of ARKS had argued that such features were excessive at best, an unnecessary precaution that seemed to cater more to the anxieties of the engineers rather than the practical needs of a research and exploration vessel… and that was before they mentioned the fact that it was nothing more than a wasteful expenditure, especially considering the pressing demands of their other military projects.

Nevertheless, the engineers had been adamant regarding their inclusion, even more so after the incident involving the Delta Valiant during the investigation on planet Nova… and while she could certainly sympathize with their concerns about the resource allocation, there was no denying the invaluable role that these safeguards would play in protecting their personnel and preserving the integrity of their missions.

The vessel's systems began to initiate the filtration process as soon as the hatch secured itself with a resounding click, working diligently to remove any traces of water that had entered the compartment during her entry process; jets of pressurized air burst forth from concealed vents positioned along the walls, creating a chorus of hissing hydraulics and whirring gears as the liquid gradually drained away. She brought her machine to a halt and stood before the gate, her eyes — calm and thoughtful — scanned the surroundings as she waited patiently for the completion of the filtration process. The rapid gusts of air continued their rhythmic bursts, driving the remaining water out of the compartment and into the intricate network of drainage channels; each jet propelled the liquid forward with forceful precision, forming a swirling vortex that carried the water away.

As the last remnants of water dissipated into thin air, a soft hum resonated throughout the chamber, signaling the completion of the filtration process — the gates began to slowly retract in succession, revealing a wide hangar bathed in a white, artificial glow. The spacious expanse stretched out before her, designed to be large enough to accommodate the presence of seven other units, each bearing its own unique coloration and markings, a visual representation of the diversity among the ARKS forces and their individual combat styles. She deftly maneuvered her unit into its designated parking space, aligning it carefully with both precision and finesse; the berth, equipped with integrated stabilizers, gently cradled her mech, ensuring its stability and safety within the hangar… and as the unit settled into place, a series of soft beeps and clang filled the air — an indication that the automated securing mechanisms had finally engaged to firmly lock the machine in its position.

Her fingers flew across the panel, her movements precise and deliberate as she pressed a series of buttons with a gentle, yet determined force, each click echoing throughout the enclosed space; the indicators above the controls flickered momentarily before dimming, signaling the deactivation of various systems. She then turned her attention towards a row of switches, her slender digits deftly flipping them off with a practiced ease — shutting down the machine and replacing the once vibrant displays with a quiet stillness that enveloped the cockpit.

Satisfied with her work, she unfastened her safety harness and took a moment to adjust the straps of the small yellow box that hung from her belt — its black and silvery frame gleaming with a subdued light despite the darkness. The hatch of the AIS, positioned directly at the back of its chest, rotated open with a smooth, mechanical whir; her slender figure emerged from the pod, her boots landing with a soft thud on the metallic floor. Taking a few seconds to straighten herself, she turned around and began to walk towards the entrance of the hangar; her hand moved to brush over her tie, ensuring that it was perfectly straight and immaculate — her eyebrows furrowing slightly as she glanced back at the mechanized unit one last time, noting the sight of a seaweed draped over the shoulder-mounted missile launcher.

'Then again, it's not like it was ever designed with underwater exploration in mind…'

Stepping out of the hangar, she found herself in a dimly lit corridor, the flickering lights overhead casting intermittent shadows upon the slightly cracked walls — small debris and scattered wires littered the floor, remnants of the ship's damaged systems that had yet to be fully repaired. She could still smell the faint metallic scent that permeated the air — a lingering reminder of the ship's recent collision and its subsequent devastation; her eyes scanned the corridor, her gaze steady and observant as she navigated through the obstacles with a grace that seemed almost effortless.

She walked past the remnants of broken doors and tried to ignore the rooms that now stood as a mere echo of their former selves. The ship's cafeteria, once a hub of activity and shared meals, now exuded a sense of abandonment; overturned tables and chairs told stories of hasty retreats and interrupted conversations. Shards of glass crunched beneath her boots as she passed by one of the many lounges spread across the ship, a place of relaxation and solace that now felt desolate and void of life — the faulty holographic display flickered sporadically, casting fragmented images of a vibrant cityscape that was now out of reach.

The training room, the cold sleep counter, the weapon engineering department… in the end, she gave them all nothing more than a passing glance, her expression betraying a tinge of sadness moments before continuing on her journey.

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice a small creature hurtling towards her until it collided with her ample chest. The resulting impact ended up displacing the fabric of her formal white shirt — it was soft yet surprising, and she staggered backward, her arms reflexively wrapping around the little ball of fluff. It did not appear to be affected by the sudden collision… rather, the creature seemed to be quite pleased with its newfound perch as it began to curl around her arm in a loving embrace.

A tiny whine escaped from its mouth, its innocent eyes staring up at her with a mix of longing and trust; a smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she cradled the creature in her arms.

Her fingers started to stroke at the little ball of fluff, a creature that embodied the whimsical blend of both foxes and unicorns; its fur, a pristine shade of white akin to a freshly fallen snow, seemed to glow softly in the dimly lit corridor. It felt like velvet against the skin of her hand, as if it were woven from the finest strands of stardust. Perched upon its head were a pair of budding horns, their graceful curves hinting at the untapped potential that lay within. Small wing-like appendages protruded from both its waist and forelegs; their delicate surfaces displaying a pearlescent sheen reminiscent of the soft glow emitted by distant moonlight. With a gentle touch, she felt at the softness of the wings beneath her fingertips — a subtle sense of warmth radiating from the ball of fluff as it nestled even closer.

"And what are you doing here, little Eve?" She whispered softly, her voice carrying a tender affection as she continued to cradle the creature in her arms. "Didn't I tell you to wait for me in my quarter?"

Eyes glimmering with mirth, she brought her nose to nuzzle against the creature's soft, fluffy head and gave her a few gentle pats against her cheek, the pair's warmth and affection resonating in the tight space between them… and as if answering the silent call, the creature let out a brief, appreciative bark, a small ribbon of blue-hued holographic light shimmering from behind her head.

"You do know that getting down those stairs was dangerous, especially for someone your size, right?" A tired sigh escaped from her lips, a soft exhalation that carried with it a mixture of weariness and amusement; her eyes, filled with a glimpse of sparkle, met the innocent gaze of her youngest companion, their connection unspoken yet palpable. "Really, I wonder what your older siblings are doing? Letting you wander around on your own and all that…"

The corridor gradually widened as she approached the lobby of the ship, the once grand and bustling space now echoed with silence and the remnants of chaos; cracked windows offered glimpses of the vast expanse of the ocean outside, its depths shrouded in mystery and darkness. It didn't take long for her steps to take her closer towards the only functioning elevator located in the center of the room, her gaze fixed on the panel as she reached out to press the button marked with an arrow pointing upwards.

A soft chime resonated throughout the lobby as the elevator doors slid open, revealing a pristine interior bathed in a warm, inviting glow. Stepping inside, she turned to face the control panel, her fingers delicately tracing the rows of buttons before pressing one in particular; the doors slid shut with a whisper of finality, sealing her and her little companion in a cocoon of solitude. As the elevator began its ascent, she proceeded to shift the position of the creature in her arms, drawing a circle upon her back with her index finger. The gentle motion and the rhythmic hum of the elevator seemed to have calmed the little ball of fluff, her eyes fluttering closed as a contented purr emanated from her small form.

Leaning against the elevator's wall, she allowed herself a moment of respite, her thoughts turning to the events that had brought her to this planet.

It all had begun with a rather mundane routine mission — an investigation of a D-arkers signal that had taken her and her crew deep into uncharted territory. Nothing out of the ordinary, really; it was a task they had undertaken countless times ever since their resounding victory over the Profound Darkness. After all, it had been made clear that defeating the ultimate personification of darkness would not result in the eradication of all D-arkers. Remnants of their malevolent presence have continued to linger throughout the galaxy… and as far as ARKS are concerned, any matters involving these creatures have always demanded constant vigilance on their part.

The problem had only started to arise when a swirling vortex of chaos had suddenly materialized before them without any warning, a sudden rupture in space that had defied all expectation. It had torn through the tranquility of their mission, its energy pulling at the very threads of their reality; the ship, once steady and resolute, had found itself at the mercy of the cosmic tempest. Of course, that in itself hadn't been the main issue — the crew had undergone extensive training in emergency procedures, meticulously drilled to ensure their survival in dire situations. She had personally overseen their training herself, making sure that every single one of them had known their responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of swift action in the face of unforeseen circumstances. They had rehearsed it so often that it had become second nature — the act itself had been seared into their muscle memory, etched into the very core of their being.

Unfortunately, the ship's artificial intelligence had insisted that they needed to retrieve the data stored within the vessel's mainframe before evacuating, not to mention that she had just had her consciousness uploaded into the system during the time of the incident. It had been an admittedly foolish decision, one that the AI had made in the interest of preserving valuable information, yet it had also been the decision that had ultimately cost them their escape. By the time the newborn AI had managed to extract the crucial data and had transferred her consciousness back into her physical body, it had already been too late. The ship had hurtled further into the unstable portal, the hull straining against the immense forces at play; its voracious hunger had swallowed the entire vessel whole, dragging it into the unknown abyss seconds before the two of them could reach the safety of the escape pods.

Regardless, despite how her friends had always referred to her as a magnet for problems, even she had never suspected that a simple investigation would end up leading her into this kind of predicament…

'Matoi and Hariette are going to be worried sick…' She mused to herself, a hint of longing lacing her thoughts as she recalled all the moments they had shared. 'At least the rest of the crew managed to evacuate in time.'

Shaking her head gently as if to clear away the weight of her worries, she straightened herself — her posture conveying a resolute determination. With a steady gait, she stepped out of the elevator as the doors opened, revealing a familiar corridor leading to her personal quarter. Her footsteps echoed throughout the empty halls; the soft, ambient lighting that came from the ceiling panels casts a warm glow upon the polished floor, guiding her path with a gentle radiance. Different from last week, this particular level now appears as if it had been left mostly intact, with little to no visible signs of destruction that had consumed the lower decks — the walls, adorned with intricate holographic displays of celestial landscapes and vibrant flora, remained unmarred, serving as a stark contrast to the chaos that had unfolded elsewhere. She continued to walk with measured strides — her movements graceful yet purposeful — her loyal companion nestled comfortably against her chest.

Barely a minute had passed before she arrived at her destination, an elegant entrance adorned with intricate carvings and a holographic display of her personal emblem. With a gentle motion, she retrieved her identification card from a pocket within her uniform, holding it up to the scanner embedded right beside the door; soft beeps echoed throughout the corridor as the scanner recognized her credentials, the entrance sliding open and granting her access to her private sanctum.

A small, yet comfortable office greeted her with open arms as she stepped into the room, its inviting ambiance creating for a serene atmosphere. The entire space featured a harmonious blend of white and black colors, its accent complemented by the soft light that bathed the entire area; lush plants of various sizes adorned the corners, each one carefully positioned to create a sense of harmonious balance — their presence adding a touch of nature's beauty to the place. Plush couches, adorned with a combination of blue and silver cushions, beckoned her to rest — the workstation, though inert at the moment, stood proudly, ready to spring to life at the mere touch of her fingertips. A faint smile made its way onto her lips as a flurry of vibrant feathers caught her attention. Another one of her loyal companion — a bird-like creature with its bright yellow plumage and endearing round eyes — dashed toward her direction; his entire form radiating a burst of enthusiasm, his tiny wings flapping around excitedly.

"Kyuuuuuu~!" With a joyful exclamation, he wrapped his small arms around her leg, embracing her in a gesture of unbridled affection that only a creature like him could convey. "Kyuuu~? Kyuu Kyu Kyuuuu~!"

"My… is that so?" She chuckled softly as she leaned down, patting the Rappy's feathered head with gentle strokes while he continued to cry out with the iconic tone unique to his kind. "I'm sorry," her voice carried with it a hint of warmth and genuine remorse as she murmured. "I didn't expect that it would take me this long to return."

"Kyuuu~! Kyu kyuuuuu~!"

"Oh? The others did?" She raised her eyebrows in amusement, a playful glint dancing in her eyes as she looked at the yellow bundle of happiness. "Hmm… you know what? I suppose you do deserve a special treat for being such a good boy." The creature's eyes widened even further with excitement, his tiny wings fluttering in anticipation as she beckoned him forward with a gentle sway of her arm. "Come along, now… I think we still have some of your favorite cookies left in the cabinet."

She couldn't help but laugh at the sight of the energetic Rappy hopping and skipping behind her as he followed her into the bedroom, his feathered form resembling a miniature ball of sunshine bouncing with every step; the sound that escaped from her lips reverberated through the air like a melodic chime, a symphony of delight that intertwined with the joyful chirps of the Rappy. With a gentle release, she carefully placed the young Wanda upon the surface of her bed, allowing her newborn companion to explore through the silken cover and fluffy pillows — the cub's small form sending a ripple of movement across the sheet as she began walking around.

The glass panels covering one side of the bedroom allowed glimpses of the vibrant underwater world outside, a mesmerizing ballet of marine life swaying in the gentle current; rays of moonlight filtered through the aquatic depths, casting an ethereal glow that danced upon the walls and filled the space with a tranquil ambiance. Adjacent to those panels, an exquisite crystal piano stood as a centerpiece, its beauty captivating her gaze for but a few seconds — its transparent surface shimmered with a faint iridescence, as if it held within it the essence of a thousand starlit nights. She glided across the room, her steps graceful as she approached a cabinet mounted against the wall. With a gentle press of a button, it slide open, revealing a treasure trove of delectable delights. Jars of cookies in various shapes and sizes lined the shelves, their contents a tempting array of flavors and textures — a sweet aroma filled the air, an intoxicating blend similar to that of chocolate, cinnamon, and buttery goodness that tickled the senses.

Her eyes glimmered with delight as she selected a jar from the collection; Its glass surface caught the ambient light for but a few moments, reflecting a prismatic hue that danced across the room. The lid, adorned with an intricate design reminiscent of constellations, popped open with a satisfying hiss. She plucked a giant cookie from the jar with a delicate touch, its surface adorned with a sprinkling of sugary crystals that shimmered like stardust.

Returning her attention to the yellow bundle of happiness, she extended her hand, offering the cookie with an outstretched palm. The creature's beady eyes widened in anticipation as it hopped closer, his tiny beak almost trembling with excitement — his feathers ruffling with every tiny hop, exuding an aulra of eagerness that was infectious… and as the Rappy started to nibble on the proffered treat, her laughter bubbled forth like a tinkling stream, a joyous melody that blended seamlessly with the creature's cheerful chirps. The symphony of mirth filled the room, suffusing the atmosphere with an enchanting harmony; the sight of the vibrant creature enjoying its reward — crumbs scattered like tiny treasures around it — brought a radiant smile upon her face.

"Now, now… remember to take your time." She cooed in a melodic voice, her words infused with a gentle admonition as she watched the Rappy devour the cookie with an uncontainable enthusiasm — her soothing tone held a touch of maternal warmth that resonated within the walls of her quarter. "No one is going to take it away from you, my dear… and there will be more for you later if you promise to eat it properly, okay?"

"Kyu~! Kyu~!" The yellow bundle of feathers bobbed its head up and down, its beady eyes sparkling with delight as if understanding the cautionary reminder. "Kyuu kyu kyu~! Kyuuu~!"

Leaving the Rappy to relish in his treat, she moved toward a small table nestled near the musical instrument, its surface adorned with a delicate lace doily and an array of meticulously arranged items; a bottle of Lactalia, its milky white contents shimmering in the soft light, caught her attention. With a slight twist of her wrist, the cap of the bottle came off, releasing a subtle scent of sweetness into the air. Her fingers wrapped around a dainty ceramic bowl, an intricate floral pattern tracing a delicate path across its surface. Carefully, she poured a small amount of the creamy liquid into the bowl, the milky substance flowing like a tranquil stream, finding its place within the vessel.

"Little Eve," she called out softly, her voice carrying a tender affection as she turned her attention to the ball of fluff batting at the frozen flower on top of the nightstand; the cub, momentarily distracted from her exploration, perked up at the sound of her name, her round eyes widening in curiosity and anticipation. "Come here, dear; it is time for dinner…"

She lowered the bowl and placed it on the floor, its contents a nourishing delight that would aid in the creature's growth and development.

With nimble steps, the rare specimen of Wanda jumped and made her way towards the table, her small paws padding gently against the polished floor. She watched with fondness as the cub drew closer to the milky substance, her pink tongue darting out to taste the creamy liquid; a contented purr resonated from her tiny form, echoing in the tranquil room like a gentle lullaby.

"Look at how much you've grown…" Her fingers ran through the cub's soft fur, her voice filled with maternal pride as she observed her companion's enjoyment. "To think that I used to bottle-feed you just a few weeks ago… time really does fly."

She slowly withdrew her fingers and shifted her weight, mindful not to disturb the adorable creature any longer; a contended sigh escaped from her lips as she stood up and turned around, her hand reaching for the small yellow box currently strapped to her belt — the crimson blade held within gleamed with a polished sheen, its serrated edges a testament to its lethality and masterful craftsmanship. With a fluid motion, she unhooked the box and placed it on the table, its weight settling on the smooth surface with a gentle thud; a fleeting moment of concern washed over her as her gaze shifted between the weapon and her two companions — the Rappy and the Wanda — who were blissfully engrossed in their own indulgences.

Her lips curved into a tender smile as she took the box back into her hand, the weapon's familiar weight settling into her palm as she walked to a nearby drawer, its smooth surface adorned with intricate carvings that told stories of distant lands and forgotten legends. A gentle tug revealed the hidden compartment within, its depths shrouded in darkness; the soft glow from the room's ambient lighting casts a warm illumination upon the objects nestled inside. Carefully, she placed the camouflaged weapon inside the drawer, ensuring that it was tucked away safely among the other items — out of sight and out of reach.

"Now, my little ones," she turned her attention back to her two companions, her voice carrying with it a hint of gentle authority, a tone that conveyed both love and firmness. "I'm going to need some time for myself, so you two just stay here and continue enjoying your treats. I'll be back before you know it; until then, you both take care of each other, okay?"

The Rappy chirped in response, his bright round eyes fixated on the remaining crumbs scattered across the floor; the little ball of fluff that is the Wanda, on the other hand, tilted her head curiously, her beady eyes following her form with a mix of innocence and understanding.

"Remember, no mischief, alright?"

----------------------------------------

The bathroom exuded an air of serenity, its pristine white tiles gleaming under the soft glow of the overhead lights; glass panels extending from floor to ceiling revealed a breathtaking underwater vista. Vibrant marine life danced gracefully amidst swaying seaweed and colorful coral reefs, while the symphony of bubbling water and the distant echoes of the ocean currents filled the air — their melodic rhythm creating an ambiance that spoke of tranquility and wonder.

She stood before the virtual mirror, her eyes fixed on her reflection, her slender fingers grasping at the ribbon that held her long, silky hair in a pristine ponytail. With a gentle tug, the ribbon came loose, releasing her hair in a cascade of rosy pink that flowed freely down her back, each strand caressing her shoulders and trailing delicately over her porcelain skin — its tips a gradient of dark purple, an outward reflection of the taint she carried within her body. The vibrant hues of her tresses created a mesmerizing contrast against her flawless complexion, accentuating her delicate features and adding to the allure that surrounded her; a faint, enigmatic smile played upon her lips as she recognized the profound beauty that she possessed — a perk, among many, for a being such as her.

Then again, it's not as if such blessings had always been a boon; there were moments in her numerous lives when it became a double-edged sword instead, and she is certain that the so-called gift she had received would continue to bring its own share of trouble and complexities in the unpredictable chapters of her future…

With a subtle turn, she stepped away from the mirror, her fingers dancing along the buttons of her attire; one by one, they yielded to her touch, slipping effortlessly from their confines as the black coat parted to reveal the pristine white shirt that hugged her slender frame. The fabric — crisp and pure — embraced her curves with a modest elegance, accentuating the graceful contours of her figure without revealing too much, its style a testament to the inherent confidence that radiated from within.

Her nimble fingers moved with a practiced precision, unfastening the black tie from around her neck, the silky material gliding through her gloved fingertips; it joined the other clothes on the countertop, carefully folded and arranged in a neat stack, its dark hue contrasting sharply against the pristine surface. A faint sound reminiscent of a classical music started to fill the room as she slowly peeled 1off her gloves, each digit emerging from its cocoon in a delicate dance of liberation; her immaculate white shirt, once impeccably buttoned, succumbed to the allure of freedom as its pearly fastenings surrendered to her fingers. The black skirt followed suit soon after, its tailored lines yielding as it joined the growing pile while the black stockings slipped off her legs, revealing the porcelain skin hidden beneath with a subdued alabaster glow that spoke of purity and grace.

She continued to undress, her mind relishing the sensation of each garment sliding off her body before her feet took her into the shower — a cascade of warmth pouring forth from the elegant fixture overhead. With a subtle flick of her hand, she adjusted the water's temperature, allowing the invigorating stream to envelop her in a comforting embrace; each droplets danced in the air, shimmering like liquid diamonds as they descended upon her bare skin, an exquisite symphony of sensation that awakened her senses and washed away the remnants of the day's trials and tribulations.

'Now if only he could be a bit more forthcoming with his intentions…'

A rueful smile made its way onto her lips as she immersed herself in the soothing embrace of the shower; the rhythmic patter of water against her body became a lullaby that quieted the cacophony of thoughts in her mind. The steam mingled with the scent of Xylovine, a flower whose fragrance is akin to that of both lavender and eucalyptus — an intoxicating blend that transported her to a realm of tranquility and rejuvenation.

After a short while, she reached out to the shower controls, her slender fingers gliding over the panel, gradually reducing the flow of water until it ceased completely; the silence brought a momentary stillness to the room, broken only by the soft sound of her breath mingling with the lingering echoes of the ocean's symphony. Droplets clung to her skin, glistening like tiny jewels as she stepped out onto the cool tiles, her bare feet leaving faint imprints of dampness behind.

She shifted her gaze to the side, her hand reaching for the small, spherical device resting near the countertop with graceful ease — its smooth surface a perfect fit in her palm, its sleek contours a familiar comfort. A quick press of a button activated its functions, the soft hum of energy filling the air, awakening its dormant capabilities; glowing interface illuminated the room with a soft, azure light as the technological marvel sprang into action, its presence imbued with a hint of sentient intelligence. The MAG — a trusted companion and repository of knowledge — began to float and move to her side, its hovering form maintaining a respectful distance as she made her way toward the inviting embrace of the bathtub.

The bathwater, Infused with aromatic oils, beckoned to her weary body, its surface shimmering with the promise of relaxation. She eased herself into the warm depths with a contented sigh, her muscles yielding to the soothing caress of the water as it enveloped her form, supporting her weight with gentle buoyancy; the ripples radiating from her submerged figure created a dance of shadows and light across the bathtub's surface. She leaned back against the smooth porcelain, her head resting on a plush bath pillow, allowing her senses to surrender to the blissful sensations of tranquility and release.

"Skye," she called out softly, her voice carrying a tone of polite request. "Would you please display the information Auria sent to me earlier? Authorization Code: ▪️▪️▪️▪️ ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ ▪️▪️▪️ ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️."

The floating orb of technology seemed to dance in the air, its entire form emitting a melodious chime that resonated with a touch of confirmation. Soft, iridescent lights flickered over the exterior of the MAG as it glided closer, its pulsating glow reflecting in her eyes as she gently cupped the small device in her hands. With a slight tilt of her head, she accessed the holographic interface, her eyes scanning the array of data that materialized before her; the sentient intelligence hidden within responded to her touch with an admirable sensitivity, the projections shifting and rearranging itself to accommodate her commands.

She skimmed through the admittedly sparse information regarding the races inhabiting this sprawling world, catching glimpses of their diverse appearances and vague descriptions of what the AI believed to be their unique abilities — her bright, lustrous eyes, resembling the swirling depths of distant galaxies, flitted from one node to another, their brilliance akin to celestial nebulas scattered across the vast expanse of the universe.

Orario, a rather… small city teeming with life, stood at the heart of this vibrant realm, its towering spire reaching toward the heavens like a beacon of civilization amidst the untamed wilderness that surrounded it; a melting pot where races converged, their cultures intermingling and colliding in a whirlwind of diversity and ambition. The labyrinthine depths of the Dungeon, an enigma unto itself, loomed beneath the city's foundations, its corridors harboring untold secrets and — if her conversation with one of the guild's clerks were to be believed — unimaginable horrors; a proving ground for adventurers who dared to venture into its treacherous depths in search of fame, fortune, or a chance at rewriting their destiny.

Her gaze moved and lingered on the section that spoke of the Three Great Quests a few seconds later, a series of endeavors that captivated the imaginations of adventurers and historians alike.

'I suppose it is what it is…'

The tales of triumph and tragedy surrounding these quests were buried in a shroud of shame by the denizens of this world, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of indignation and disappointment at the treatment bestowed upon the very heroes who had protected them for over hundreds of years. Granted, the information regarding said event was nothing more than mere speculation courtesy of the young artificial intelligence, the result of an analysis of every possible outcome based on the various data that they both have in their possession… and yet, she couldn't help but recognize the underlying truth within those speculations. It wasn't just a matter of conjecture; it was a deep-seated understanding, born from her observation of mankind's capacity for fickleness and cruelty. She had witnessed it in countless worlds — in countless lives — how swiftly the people could turn against those they had once revered, how easily they could tear down their very own heroes with words as sharp as daggers, inflicting wounds that cut deeper than any blade ever could.

Those who had once rejoiced in the deaths of the two Great Beasts, reveling in the prowess and valor of their fabled protectors, now resented the very individuals they had once held in high regard. While their victories against the Leviathan and the Behemoth were initially celebrated, the subsequent failure against the One-Eyed Black Dragon had cast a shadow over their heroic reputations; the city that they had valiantly protected turned against them, blaming them for their perceived shortcomings and banishing them from its very walls.

'In the end, the entire debacle is nothing more than a farce…'

Shaking off the somber thoughts that threatened to cloud her mind, she redirected her attention towards one of the many holographic panels that the MAG displayed, her gaze searching for something more substantial, more… informative, in a way. Minutes passed as she delved deeper into the archives, her focus darting from one piece of information to another — the mundane details and trivialities painting a vivid picture of the world she now found herself in.

It was during this meticulous exploration that her discerning eyes finally fell upon a particular entry that piqued her interest — a mention of a somewhat rare and coveted resource known as magic stones. According to the limited knowledge they had gathered thus far, these precious commodities were the essence and life force of the 'antagonistic' creatures inhabiting this realm; they served as the pulsating cores of the monstrous beings that inhabited the dungeon, and more often than not, could be found nestled within their chest cavities. These coveted gems possessed an inherent 'magical' power that could be harnessed and utilized in various practical applications — from something as simple as providing illumination, to a more complex task such as water purification — a diverse array of utilities that showcased the multifaceted nature of these minerals.

Nevertheless, the mere functionality and versatility of these stones wasn't what truly fascinated her; it was the revelation that they harbored within them a miniscule amount of pure photon energy. Of course, she knew that — as the fundamental particles of light — photons could be found in every corner of the universe, permeating through the very fabric of existence itself. However, what truly astonished her was the realization that within these magic stones, there existed a concentrated and pure reservoir of photon energy, a rarity even within the advanced technological confines of the Oracle Fleet.

The concept seemed almost… paradoxical. In the expansive reaches of space, where the Oracle Fleet traversed, pure photon energy was a highly prized resource, a precious substance that required meticulous extraction and careful containment… and yet, as if to contradict the scarcity she had come to associate with such energy, here in this humble world — where technology took a backseat to magic — the dungeon produced and offered these gems like it was nothing, practically available en masse.

And if she could get her hand on more of these stones…

"I'm sorry, little Skye, but can you please try and contact Auria for me?" She interrupted her own line of thoughts before they could spiral further into the realm of speculation, her voice a gentle cadence in the quiet bathroom, carrying with them a tinge of curiosity and a flicker of excitement. "Voice only if you will…"

Another symphony of ethereal chimes filled the air as the MAG jumped out of her hand, its hovering form bobbing slightly in acknowledgment. One of the holographic interfaces shifted, momentarily displaying a series of intricate symbols and data streams before stabilizing into a communication module connecting her to the AI's frequency. The air seemed to hum with anticipation as she waited, the echoes of her own thoughts mingling with the soft ambiance of the bath chamber.

Seconds stretched into minutes, and just as she began to wonder if her attempt had gone unheard, the gentle hum of the holographic display transformed into a more melodic tone, indicating a successful connection.

"Apologies for the delay, Commander. I was in the process of data transference when I received your call." A feminine voice echoed through the communication channel, its tone precise and efficient. "How may I assist you?"

"No need to apologize, Auria," A faint smile made its ways onto her face as she listened to the composed voice on the other end of the line, a touch of warmth and fondness seeping into her words. "I hope I didn't interrupt anything too important?"

"It is nothing of great significance, Ma'am. I was merely conducting routine data analysis and classification. Besides, as I had stated before, your call will always take precedence over all other tasks."

"Another routine check?" She couldn't help but chuckle softly at the AI's dedication to duty, her voice laced with affectionate amusement. "I know that sleep may not be a necessity for you, but I think I would much rather you get some rest instead… not that I can speak much for myself, considering my own tendencies." The words that escaped from her lips were accompanied by a gentle smile, a glimmer of warmth can be seen in her eyes as she spoke. "Well, I suppose I can let this one slide. Regardless, going back to the matter at hand, I was hoping you could provide me with some additional information regarding these magic stones."

"Of course, Commander," the response was immediate, her dedication to duty evident in every syllable. "Which aspect of the magic stones do you require further clarification on? Their properties and applications? Or is there any specific detail you would like me to focus on?"

"Mhmm… your report mentions that they contain a minuscule amount of pure photon energy. Please elaborate on that particular aspect."

"Certainly, Commander," there was a brief pause on the other end of the line, as if the AI was meticulously organizing her thoughts before she continued. "According to the data we have gathered thus far, magic stones, in addition to their practical applications, possess a multitude of unique properties that make them a coveted resource in this world. In terms of functionality, these stones exhibit remarkable versatility; they can be utilized as something as mundane as a light source, or something as complex as a power supply for various… technological devices. Some people also claimed that they can be consumed to provide a temporary boost in both physical and 'magical' abilities, although the validity of such claims remains unverified." She paused momentarily, her tone shifting slightly to a more analytical cadence. "Based on the data we possess, however, such belief appeared to have stemmed from the fact that the creatures inside the dungeon seemed to have evolved and become stronger upon consuming enough of these stones. Regardless, everything I gleaned from my observations thus far suggests that they share enough similarities with our concept of photon energy — if only in terms of functionality — which then prompts me to question their origin and the mechanisms behind their composition."

The holographic display shifted and rearranged themselves before her eyes, multiple screens materializing In a mesmerizing cascade of data and symbols, each panel presenting a different facet of information; graphs depicting energy levels, elemental properties, and intricate molecular structures materialized alongside detailed summaries of the stone's effects on both the so-called 'magical' and physical abilities.

"Upon further analysis, I discovered that these magic stones house within them a concealed concentration of pure photon energy; the process by which they ended up being contained within the stone remains unclear, as the information available to us is limited. Unfortunately…" The AI seemed to hesitate for a moment, her voice taking on a subtle tone of caution. "While the presence of such mineral is nothing but a boon for someone in our condition, based on the available data and my own investigation, it seems that the pure photon energy is hidden beneath layers of what appeared to be crystallized D-Particles."

"Layers of… crystallized D-Particles?" She echoed the words, her eyes widening slightly as the implications of the AI's statement sank in.

"I… apologize, Ma'am. I had originally planned notify you of my discoveries tomorrow morning, but…"

"Oh, it's fine, really. Don't worry about it…" Her voice trailed off, her mind processing the newfound information with a mix of intrigue and contemplation; she leaned back against the bath pillow, her fingertips idly tracing patterns on the surface of the water. "So, if I understand correctly, you mean to say that the people of this world had unwittingly been exposed to the effect of the D-Factor in some form or another?"

"Close, but not exactly, Commander. It appears that the D-Particles within the magic stone are… inert, for lack of a better term. Instead of releasing the corrupting influence commonly associated with the substance, these particles remain dormant, seemingly devoid of any adverse effects. They do not exhibit the same tendency to distort and corrupt the environment around them, nor do they manifest any of the anomalous properties we have come to expect from the D-Particles."

"I suppose we can consider ourselves fortunate in that regard." The voice that came out of her lips carried with it a tinge of relief, a subtle sigh escaping from her mouth as her body relaxed further into the warm embrace of the bathwater; her fingers continued their leisurely dance upon the water's surface, creating ripples that mirrored the waves of thoughts cascading through her mind. "Then would it be safe to assume that these stones could potentially be utilized as a viable source of photon energy — therefore serving as a means to repair our ship?"

"Affirmative," the young artificial intelligence's voice resonated through the communication channel, its tone unwavering and filled with assurance. "Although the process would first require careful extraction and purification of every single D-Particle within the magic stone, it is indeed possible to harness the latent pure photon energy hidden beneath those crystallized layers. Doing so would, in turn, allow us to use the ship's photon converter to repair the various devices and systems that will aid in the restoration of our vessel." Her voice trailed off momentarily, as if considering her next words. "However, it is worth noting that the purification process itself is going to take a considerable amount of time to complete… and with everything being as it is, the quality of the magic stones we have in our possession is not sufficient to expedite the repair process to a satisfactory degree."

"You speak as if you already knew, or at least calculated the time needed for the repair." She remarked, her brows furrowing slightly as she absorbed the AI's words. "Though I confess that I feel somewhat conflicted. On one hand, I prefer not to hear the answer, as it might be nothing short of… devastating, in a way." A vexed smile played at the corners of her lips, her eyes flickering with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. "But on the other hand, my duty compels me to know all the information necessary to make an informed decision. So tell me, Auria, how long would it take for us to repair our ship if we are to use only the magic stones we currently have in our possession?"

"Preliminary calculations based on all available information suggest that the estimated time required to complete the ship's repair amounts to approximately one hundred and thirteen years."

"… ah, of course it would take that long." She muttered under her breath, a hint of resignation seeping into her voice. "Really, what else do I expect?"

"… Commander?"

"No… no, it's nothing." Her eyes wandered aimlessly across the patterns on the wall, tracing the intricate designs with a distant gaze. "I believe you said something about the qualities of the stones being insufficient, correct?"

"Yes, Ma'am. Unfortunately, the few you managed to procure lack the necessary amount of photon energy to expedite the restoration process, and that is without mentioning the impurities present within the stones themselves; they act as a hindrance, impeding the efficient extraction and purification of the crystallized D-Particles." The AI explained, her tone maintaining its customary professionalism. "While they do contain traces of pure photon energy, their quantity is barely enough to facilitate a significant restoration of our ship's systems within a reasonable timeframe."

"And with our APA device out of commission, we have little choice but to look for more of these minerals, preferably ones with better quality and higher concentrations of photon energy." Her fingers, once gently caressing the water's surface, now tapped against the edge of the bath, a subtle rhythm born out of silent exasperation. "In the end, it seems we are left with no other option but to return to Orario."

"Indeed, the city presents us with the best opportunity to gather more of these stones. By exploring deeper levels of the Dungeon, we increase our chances of encountering stronger creatures, and consequently, acquiring magic stones of higher quality."

"… I suppose there's no avoiding it then." She sighed softly, her voice laced with a mixture of reluctant acceptance and determination. "Still, how much of a difference do you think it will make? I don't mind if it is just a rough estimate."

"It is difficult to provide an exact estimation, but based on the few samples you've gathered on the first, second, and third floor of the dungeon, then it is plausible to assume that the acquisition of at least one hundred thousand magic stones from the sixtieth floor would allow us to reduce the repair time by a significant margin." The AI paused for a brief moment before continuing, her tone laden with thoughtful consideration. "Barring any unexpected circumstances, a conservative estimate would suggest a reduction of approximately seventeen years."

She could feel her eyebrow twitching ever so slightly at the mention of a seventeen-year reduction — a figure that she herself, no matter how she tried to rationalize it, found incredibly absurd. A hundred thousand in exchange for a seventeen-year reduction. That means more than half a million magic stones would be required to achieve a complete restoration of their vessel, and that is assuming that the entire process would only take a single day to finish; the sheer magnitude of that number is enough to make her head spin, a faint headache pulsing at her temples as she contemplated the fastest way to gather such an astronomical quantity of magic stones.

Honestly, even the notion of facing Lady Phaleg in battle a hundred times over would be much more preferable compared to something like… this.

"Though on the bright side, the ship's sensors managed to detect some sort of barrier surrounding the planet prior to our crash… and while its exact nature remains unknown, it appears to have caused an anomaly in the space-time continuum, resulting in this world going with an accelerated flow of time. I have yet to observe and analyze the full extent of this phenomenon, but I believe this temporal disparity could potentially work in our favor, Commander."

"Then that will have to be enough, I suppose." A strained smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she spoke, her voice carefully measured to convey a sense of calm resolve. "It may not be an ideal outcome, but given our current circumstances, it is a compromise that we must make. Still… going to Orario means that we will have to find a way for me to blend in with the locals; after all, I can't exactly march into the city wielding my usual weapons and dressed in my combat attire." She submerged herself deeper into the water, her mind working through the logistics and intricacies of their plan. "Not that we'll be able to keep a low profile for long considering what we're going to do, but drawing attention too early would simply make our objectives even more of a chore to achieve."

The prospect of navigating the intricate web of social dynamics in a city where the divines — barring a few exceptions — ruled with capricious whims and selfish desires; it was certainly an endeavor that promised to be as delightful as fighting against the Goddess of Annihilation herself.

'And wouldn't that be just wonderful?'

"If I may, Commander," The AI's voice broke the momentary silence, her words laced with a tinge of hesitation as if she was unsure of how her suggestion would be received. "I believe I might have a suggestion that could aid you in blending in with the locals during your stay."

"Hmm? Do tell, Auria. I'm all ears…"

"I had finished analyzing a few more of the unknown items that were left scattered in our ship after the incident. As I'm sure you've noticed before, among them are a few attires that — while not exact replicas of the typical garments worn by the people of this world — bear certain resemblance to the clothing worn by the adventurers of Orario that they could pass off as acceptable alternatives in the context of the city's… rather questionable fashion trends."

"Rather questionable, you say?" She chuckled softly, her amusement coloring the air with a delicate melody; the sound, like a soft breeze rustling through autumn leaves, echoed in the tiled chamber, filling the space with a hint of mirth. "You do realize that a few of our own operatives are guilty of the same, don't you? Why, I believe there was also this one time a few months ago when one of them decided to go and visit the Ashmaiden in nothing more than-"

"His underwear, yes. Operative Huey, Number Six of the Council of Six. Miss Klariskrays is particularly fond of sharing that story whenever she gets the chance." A hint of nostalgia entered her voice even as her tone adopted a subtle note of disapproval. "Though I failed to understand how someone with a position as esteemed as his could be allowed to engage in such frivolous activity."

"Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you." She interjected, a gentle smile playing on her lips, her voice laced with warmth and amusement. "Huey has always been a bit… unconventional, shall we say? Besides, I've heard that it was all part of a bet he had with Maria, and as you might know, his penchant for spontaneous wagers tends to get him into interesting predicaments. But I digress…"

"If you say so, Ma'am…"

The MAG, which had been content to simply hover in the air, began to project another holographic display in front of her, illuminating the steam-filled room with a soft, ethereal glow; they shimmered and coalesced into a meticulously detailed list of items, each one accompanied by a brief description and an image to aid in identification. Various pieces of clothing can be seen on the screen, each with its own unique design — their colors vibrant and their textures rich — from flowing robes adorned with intricate embroidery to form-fitting armor that exuded an air of practical elegance, the selection encompassed a range of styles that could potentially serve as suitable disguises.

Her mind went back to the set of Instructions she had received moments after the incident even as she continued to look through the catalogue, her eyes scanning the items that shouldn't even exist in the first place; weapons of various shapes and sizes — ranging from swords to rifles to rods — were also included in the list, every single one of them bore a striking resemblance to the weapons commonly used among members of ARKS.

'Seek Halphas, seek the Meteorns, and prepare for the arrival of the Starless…'

Those cryptic words, spoken with his usual otherworldly voice, had echoed in her mind like whispers from a forgotten realm; a cascade of memories, vivid and disjointed, had surged through her consciousness, intertwining with her own recollections in a nauseating dance of both past and future. They were memories that were hers yet not hers at the same time — experiences she had never lived yet had somehow lived through the eyes of another. She had seen landscapes that stretched beyond the boundaries of her known worlds, vast deserts of shifting sands and crystalline cities that sparkled with an ethereal beauty; she had felt the warm embrace of the sun against her skin, the weight of unfamiliar weapons in her hands, and the adrenaline-fueled thrill of battle coursing through her veins.

'Meteorns…'

Several faces materialized in her mind… faces of individuals she could have sworn to never had encountered in her life, and yet… their features felt uncannily familiar to her; their eyes filled with determination, their expressions etched with the weight of responsibilities and hardships endured. They are… comrades; allies, and… enemies — each and every single one of them connected by a thread of destiny that transcends the boundaries of time.

Aina, Manon, Nadereh, Dozer, Crawford, Garoa, Rossa, Ran, Liu Lin, Oranje, Hadi, Jalil, Rizwana, Munira, Mohsen, Tuuli, Ilma, Meri, Kukka, Taivas, Kanui, Glenn, Zephetto, Pharia…

Their names had resounded in her mind, like a litany of souls intertwined in a cosmic tapestry, their lives interwoven with her own in ways she could barely comprehend. Moments of shared triumphs and heart-wrenching losses had flooded her senses, mingling with her own experiences and left her momentarily disoriented, as if the boundaries of her identity had become blurred and merged with those of another.

It was an unsettling sensation, to say the least; a disquieting mixture of familiarity and alienation that twisted in the depths of her being — yet despite everything…

"… this honesty would have been far easier if we had access to all my storages." She finally spoke, her voice steady and measured, betraying none of the turmoil that churned within her. "Well, no matter… we'll take another look later on and decide which of these items would be most suitable for our upcoming venture. In the meantime, regarding my request, did you find any mention of this… Halphas, in any of the information you've gathered so far?"

"Regrettably, my search for information pertaining to the word 'Halphas' has thus far yielded no significant results. There is no mention of such term in any of the data I possess, nor does it correspond to any known entity or concept within the bounds of my accumulated knowledge." The AI's voice, ever composed and informative, held a hint of regret in its tone; it was a subtle admission of the limitations faced by even the most advanced of artificial intelligences. "If I may inquire, Commander, might I ask where you first encountered this word? At the very minimum, such information would provide us with a starting point for further investigation."

"I'm not sure if I can even give you a proper answer to that question; it is not because I do not want to, but rather because the circumstances surrounding my encounter with the word are… convoluted, at best." She replied, the words tinged with a mixture of contemplation and uncertainty as she leaned against the rim of the bath. "Regardless, if it helps, then I am fairly certain that Halphas is… some sort of place, a planet to be exact — or at least that is what I think it is."

"A planet…" The subtle pause that followed marked the AI's quiet contemplation, a calculated moment of silence in which her mind tried to piece together fragments of knowledge and speculation in an attempt to form a coherent understanding — sorting through her database in search of any relevant connections or references. "That does narrow down the possibilities, but without further context or corroborating data, it may prove challenging to pinpoint its exact location. Nevertheless, I'm afraid I would require access to a more extensive database in order to provide a more thorough analysis."

"Hmm… I had a feeling that would be the case." She nodded, her expression retaining its characteristic calmness, though her eyes betrayed a glimmer of frustration at the limits imposed by their current predicament.

"On another note, Commander, there is one other matter that I have yet to fully investigate, and I believe it is something that might be of interest to you."

"Oh?" Curiosity flickered in her eyes as she turned her attention towards her floating MAG, a slight current of intrigue flowed through her voice — barely perceptible but present nonetheless. "Please, do go on…"

"Certainly, Ma'am," one of the holographic screens shifted to focus on a single item among the catalog of recovered objects; a translucent image of a device — sleek and compact — appeared before her eyes, its surface adorned with intricate patterns that seemed to pulsate with a faint, green light. "It appears that among the five MAG-like objects we managed to recover, one of them contains an encrypted data package within its core. This device, now designated as X-MAG Unit Model N-001, possesses a level of encryption that surpasses the capabilities of my current operating system, and considering the limitations of our current equipment, I have been unable to decrypt its contents and extract the information it holds." The words that flowed from the young artificial intelligence carried with it a hint of both frustration and admiration as she continued. "Also, it is my belief that accessing this package would require the assistance of ARKS' Department of Intelligence, since their experience in data decryption and analysis far exceeds our own. However, even with their aid, I fear that unlocking even a fragment of the package's contents would be a time-consuming endeavor, stretching over several months at the very least."

"That is… unfortunate." She sighed softly, her fingers lightly tracing the image of the foreign MAG unit. "I suppose further investigation will have to wait until we are back on the fleet, though personally, I prefer not to wait until then. Still, if you feel that there is no-"

"Kyuuuu~! Kyuu kyu kyuuu~!"

The gentle ambiance of the bath was suddenly shattered by a series of chirps and squeaks; several high-pitched melodies echoed off the marble walls, the sound accompanied by a rhythmic scratching noise against a metal surface. She turned her gaze towards the entrance of the bathroom, her serene expression faltering ever so slightly as she realized that her two companions were getting restless — a soft chuckle escaped her lips as she pieced together the source of the commotion.

"Ah… it seems they have both grown rather impatient." She remarked, her voice laced with amusement as she stood up and stepped out from the bath. "Forgive me, Auria. It appears that I have spent far too much time indulging in this moment of relaxation." Droplets of water began to cascade down her smooth, glistening skin as she reached for a nearby towel; the soft fabric absorbed the moisture as she ran it across her body, drying herself with gentle strokes before finally wrapping it around her form with a practiced grace. "Regardless, as I was saying, if you feel that there is nothing more you can learn, then by all means, minimize the resources devoted to this particular line of research or even suspend the efforts altogether. Of course, I am also hoping that you will finally take my advice and indulge in some well-deserved rest of your own."

"As I have stated before, Commander, rest is something that I do not require…"

"So you said," she replied with a knowing smile, a hint of playful admonishment lacing her voice as she made her way towards the double wide smart mirror positioned on top of the counter. "I suppose that means you wouldn't mind accompanying me during my visit to Orario, then?"

"Ah… I- I don't think that would be very wise, Commander." The young artificial intelligence stuttered, a hint of concern seeping into her tone. "B- besides, my presence would end up attracting unnecessary attention. It, ah… I believe it would be far more prudent for me to remain here and continue my research remotely, where I can provide you with the necessary support from a distance."

"And now you're doing it again." She responded with a gentle chuckle, her reflection on the glassy surface mirroring her amused expression. "There's really no need to worry about it, Auria. I assure you, everything is going to be just fine…"

----------------------------------------

"-id I will have to disagree, Commander." Auria clutched at the edge of her skirt, her fingers gripping the fabric tightly as a hint of distress flickered across her face. "Regardless, I simply do not understand how something like this could possibly be that important."

"Oh, I am certain you will be able to understand soon enough." She spoke as she sifted through the assortment of clothes strewn across the bed, searching for the perfect outfit; her mischievous grin widened as she held up a frilly, pastel-colored dress, its delicate lace and ruffled layers contrasting with the young artificial intelligence's synthetic body. "It is called Phasion Star for a reason, after all…"

"…?"

"One day, Auria," her voice held an air of playful anticipation as she extended the dress towards the AI. "One day, you too will understand…"
