Prologue

The King was Outraged, Never in all his years has he met A boy that blatantly challenged his

authority, he has never met a more bold Piece of Lickspittle in his life. Even as he stood before the king chained and bound by his guards, he still had a bold smile on his face. He would’ve killed the boy if he wanted to. In Fact he SHOULD kill him, But due to the laws that were established before the king came into power he Legally could not have the boy killed. So he sat there upon his throne fuming with anger as his advisor listed the boy's crime “thievery against Nobleman Jackered, vandalism of public property against the king’s name, Evading public authority, Destruction of public property, and your lasted crime-” he adjust his glasses ``Replacing the king’s crown with an exact replica..made of...dried pig feces''

The boy laughs echoes through the halls “oh man, you cannot believe how long it took me to get it like that. It got even better when you decided to give a speech in the rain!” He laughs until one of the guards punches him in the gut. The king stood from his throne “I WANT HIM EXECUTED! THIS VERY MINUTE!” the advisor tries to calm him down “sir! Please calm down, even you are bound by the laws of the kingdom. So we must do the next best thing.-” “exilement” the boy calls out. The king glares at the boy. He wanted nothing more than to Seal him in a room and listen to him beg in agony to be set free. But he must go with traditions. “Fine then” the king says nonchalantly”get on with it and get this filth out of my sight” the advisor nods and clears his throat “yes sir, grab the branding iron.” a servant comes with a red-hot branding iron. The guards grab the boy's hand and display forward as the advisor speaks “Issac ... .last name boy?” Issac shook his head “no, i’m an orphan” the king muttered under his breath “i can see why” his advisor clears his throat and continues his speech “Zack, no last name. You are hereby banished from the kingdom of the Trotis Kingdom. You will now be branded with the mark of the star” they then push the branding iron into the back of Issac’s hand. Coursing burning pain shoots through his body. The smell of burning flesh filled his Nostrils ``Ahhh! You could’ve given me a sticker or a tattoo! Damn it! that hurts!” the king laughs at the boy's pain, “you deserve more than that boy” the advisor continues

“you now bear the mark of the star, everywhere you go people will know you are a criminal. You will wear this mark for the rest of your Life. After the crimes you’ve committed you have lost your rights to a normal life. This mark is proof no matter where you, no matter where you go. Your past will never change. Your choices have been made and you must live by them. May the gods have mercy on your soul, Exilium '' with the banishment ritual finally complete, Isaac is no longer a part of the Trotis kingdom “gentlemen?'' the advisor asks' 'please escort Mr. Isaac to the city gates.” the guards nod and begin to drag isaac away “you were at the mercy of circumstance boy!” the king calls out “the next time we meet you won’t live to laugh in my face!” Isaac, still with a smile on his face, gives a departing message to the king “you know your wife is cheating on you with her bodyguard. Do what you will with that information!”

the king's face grows red “you shit-faced orphan i’d flog you days on end! I hope you're eaten by the wolves! My wife is none of your business!” Isaac laughs as they leave the throne room to the palace steps to where probably the entire town waited. One of the guards calls out “he has been branded! Make way for the exiled!” The crowds of people's faces fall as if at the same time, they knew the boy's actions would get him into this situation, but they never really expected it to happen, the boy walks through town. The people's solemn faces fill the boy's vision, the weeping of women is heard but not seen. Isaac knew this was the hardest part of being exiled; the people he grew to love and care for will no longer be a part of his life, he will never see them again. Edna the baker will never give him fresh banana bread, the elderly innkeeper Mr. Burks will never play a game of chess with him again, he can never laugh at the blacksmith's stories ever again. He’ll never play with the other orphans or be reprimanded by the caretaker Miss Willard. He keeps a straight face, walking by his friends and peers. Their saddened heart broken faces, their tears, fill Issac with a great guilt.

He was used to people yelling at him and insulting him. It was hard for him to digest the fact that people did care about him. He wanted to shout at them to be angry, and throw things at him. Do anything but cry for him. That’s something he can’t handle, he keeps his head low trying to drown out the cries. Through the crowd he saw the orphans. Their cries were the loudest, who will be around to show them tricks? Who will defend them when the older kids pick on them? Who will they look up to? He realizes now the consequences of his actions. He was never really shown love before he came to the orphanage. Raised on the streets he taught himself to be a thief. But not just any thief, the world’s greatest thief. He would have stolen the king’s crown instead of pulling his prank. He could’ve stolen it and ditched town. He could’ve sold it and lived the rest of his life in luxury, but he didn’t, he wanted the entire village to know that no one is untouchable. That actions and words have consequences and that the king was no god, in fact he was just a man Covered in pig mud. Love felt weird to him, as if it made him feel tingly but not in a good way. It felt unnatural to him.

Even now he felt the unnatural tingles down his spine. But it will be a feeling he shall miss. The giant wooden gates of the Kingdom opened slowly, Isaac felt as if he was walking into the open maw of a beast that would soon swallow him whole. He wanted to give everyone one final speech. Telling them he’ll be alright. He’ll be fine and he would return(unlikely) but even he started to doubt everything he gave up a life he loved, that he truly loved to teach some idiot a lesson. The star on the back of hand still stings, he wonders if this is what that advisor meant by “Losing his rights to a normal life” when isaac and the guards finally reach the entrance they reach for the keys to isaac’s chains. “Looking for these?” Isaac held the keys out and jingled them just a bit. “You guys really do suck at your jobs” the guard snatches the keys and unlocks the locks “i for one will not miss you” he pushes isaac out of the entrance. Isaac get’s one final look at his loved ones.he loved each and every single one of them. And he won’t admit it…but he will miss them..soon his vision is covered by hard wood. The gates are closed..his normal life is over, he is now what he’s branded. A thief…and an exile.
