Chapter 2

Jain slowly opened his eyes, squinting in the dim light of the cave. He tried to move his arms and legs, but his body wouldn't obey. It was then that he realised something was terribly wrong. Panic set in as he tried to move his fingers, but they just squished together, forming a shapeless mass.

He looked down, and horror washed over him. His body had turned into a slimy, gooey substance, and he was lying in a puddle of it. As he struggled to make sense of what had happened, he remembered the fight with the slimes. He had lost Neena and Grom, and the last thing he remembered was the slime attacking him.

Jain tried to move again, but this time he realised something was off. He felt strange, like his body was not his own. He tried to focus on his body and noticed that it felt soft and slimy. He couldn't see it, but he could feel it. It was like he was a part of the darkness. Then, it hit him. He wasn't in his own body anymore. He was now a slime.

The realisation hit him like a ton of bricks. He was no longer human. He was now one of the creatures that he had spent his whole life fighting against. As he tried to move his new body, he felt like he was trapped. His body was unresponsive, and he couldn't figure out how to control it. He tried to will his arms and legs to move, but all he could do was wiggle around in the puddle of slime he was lying in.

Slowly, Jain began to focus his thoughts, trying to form his body out of the slime. It was a painful process, and he felt like he was tearing himself apart. But finally, he managed to form an arm and a leg out of the slime. He pulled himself out of the puddle, but it was a grotesque and painful sight. He was nude and covered in the same slime that had killed his comrades. He felt a deep sense of grief and loss wash over him. He was still a slime, just in a different form.

Jain looked around the cave, trying to find a way out. But he knew he was in the dungeon, and he had no idea how to get out. He slumped back down on the ground, feeling defeated. Then, the memories flooded back. The memories of Neena and Grom's death, and the slime that killed them.

The memories were vivid and gruesome. He saw the slime attacking Neena, wrapping its slimy arms around her, and squeezing the life out of her. He saw Grom trying to save her, but the slime turned its attention to him, engulfing him in its slimy body. Jain felt sick to his stomach, knowing that he was now one with the creature that had killed his friends. He also saw himself attacking them. He was now a part of the thing that had killed his friends. He was one with the monster. The memories were gruesome and vivid, and Jain could feel the emotions of both himself and the slime that had attacked them. It was overwhelming.

"What am I now?" he muttered to himself, feeling lost and alone. He looked around the cave, feeling trapped and helpless. The mysterious voice chimed in, "System activates, checking status." A yellow game status window popped up above him, but he paid it no attention. His mind was consumed by the agony of his loss, and the realisation that he had become something he never wanted to be.

He sat there for what felt like hours, lost in his thoughts. He couldn't help but think about the slime's memories that had become a part of him. The memories were so vivid, he could almost feel the slimy body of the creature wrapping around him, suffocating him. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was now a monster, just like the one that had killed his friends.

Jain tried to stand up, but his limbs wouldn't cooperate. He was stuck in his slimy form, and there was no way to change it. He felt a sense of hopelessness wash over him, but he knew he had to keep going. He had to find a way out of the dungeon and avenge his friends.

"What am I now?" he muttered to himself again, but this time with a more dramatic tone. "Am I still me, or am I just a monster?" He knew he had to find a way to move on, but it was easier said than done.

He looked up at the yellow status window, and read the words "VSlime: Level 1."
