After checking that everyone was present, Elder Ming announced the rules of today’s Spirit Awakening Ceremony.
"As there is a lot of you this time, I grouped you into batches of ten. The youngest will go first. When I read your name, go to your corresponding place on the stage, and sit down. Someone will give you a bottle containing a drop of Spirit Awakening Liquid. After you drink it, close your eyes and try to feel your spirit. Even if you can't, the Spirit Awakening Liquid will help you awaken it. After you finally feel your spirit, stand up, and come over to the platform with the transparent crystal. You will have to place your hand on it so we can check your talent.”
Elder Ming gazed at everyone and questioned, “Is everything clear?"
Naturally, everyone nodded. Elder Ming’s rules were common knowledge everyone in the clan knew. Only Xuefeng listened intently as Elder Ming didn't explain to him anything about the ceremony at their meeting. Judging from the explanation, it didn't seem hard.
Xuefeng would be the last to participate due to his age but that was for the best. He could observe others first.
When Elder Ming called the first ten kids, they all sat down on their assigned spots. After a few moments, a few servants distributed Spirit Awakening Liquid and the kids followed the instructions, drinking the liquid.
They all closed their eyes and focused on their main goal, awakening one’s spirit. Without the spirit, they wouldn’t be able to cultivate.
At some point, one boy stood up and walked towards round crystal on the platform. When he placed his palm on its surface, it lit up, just like his face.
From what the other kids were saying, the crystal was called Talent Measuring Crystal and its role was as the name suggested, to measure talent.
After you awaken your spirit, there was no Spirit Qi inside your dantian yet. Talent measuring Crystals uses its own Spirit Qi to copy a person's talent into its own Spirit Qi. This way, even beginners like them could be measured.
After the Talent Measuring Crystal withdrew its Spirit Qi from the boy's body, it started to change colors. From red to orange, then into light green only to stop at dark green.
Elder Ming nodded with approval.
"Dark Green talent right of the bat. Pretty good start," Liu Xiaobei commented.
Zhen Ping smirked at that, showing his arrogance. Many knew he had a dark blue talent, but when he gazed at his sister, he returned to normal. She was an even bigger monster with a purple talent.
"Stand to the side. You will enter the Spirit Treasury to get your first Spirit Artefact later," Elder Ming informed the child.
Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
"Yes!" The kid bowed excitedly.
Having a Dark Green talent would guarantee him a good future, so he was naturally happy.
After the boy with a Dark Green talent stepped down, another child opened his eyes and stood up. He repeated the process of his predecessor and it turned out he also had Dark Green talent.
"Haha, not bad, what do you think Emperor Shang?" Liu Xiaobei laughed as he asked the Emperor who was sitting next to him.
"Indeed, not bad. Your Liu Clan always had talented young cultivators so it's not surprising," Zhen Shang agreed. "But, I'm much more interested in how your son will do. To catch up to everyone, he would at least need a purple or a black talent."
"Let's leave that to the heavens," Liu Xiaobei replied with a shrug.
After ten minutes, everyone from the group woke up and tested their talents. In the first batch, there were four Dark Green, five Light Green, and one Red talent. The person with a Red talent was a little bit dejected but he would still be useful for the clan.
It took another thirty minutes to test another three batches, but unfortunately, only one Light Blue talent appeared throughout the testing.
It was finally time for the fifth batch and listening to Elder Ming's call, Liu Mei tightened her grip around Xuefeng's hand. Feeling her grip, he cheered her with a hug.
"Go and don't come back without at least a Purple talent," Xuefeng challenged.
"Okay!" She nodded firmly and finally let go, joining the rest. Although she was the smallest, she was the oldest from her batch being almost thirteen years old.
Xuefeng was left alone on one side of the stage, while all others who were already done, standing on the opposite side.
He felt like an elephant in the zoo, as everyone was looking at him curiously. Especially the ladies who came with the various clan leaders.
The ladies looked at him with complicated gazes, making him wonder what did he do to them.
One by one, another batch checked their talent, but no one has shown anything new. Only one kid was left after a few minutes so everyone focused their sight on her.
It was Liu Mei.
Five minutes passed, ten minutes but she still didn't show any signs of waking up. Elder Ming frowned at that sight but then someone from the audience exclaimed, "Purple clouds!"
Xuefeng gazed at the round hole in the ceiling and surprisingly, the clouds were all purple.
All clouds gathered above the Liu Clan and to his shock, they were descending towards the Spirit Awakening Hall.
Hearing the shout, all the guests stood up from their chairs. Even Liu Xiaobei dashed towards the stage.
As the Purple clouds were only about a hundred meters above the Liu Clan, Liu Mei's eyes opened. Her pupils were purple and she looked at the sky. Purple clouds entered through the ceiling, creating a vortex above her.
She was sucking the clouds unto her body!
Outside the Clan territory, the crowd was going crazy. It's been a long time since they witnessed a Spirit Awakening Phenomenon so everyone was ecstatic.
"Is this caused by Liu Clan's Young master?"
"There is finally a person with a Purple talent born inside our City. What a day to be alive!"
"Quickly, go cultivate! During a Heavenly Phenomenon like this, Spirit Essence from a few kilometers around the city would gather in one place. We can't waste such an opportunity."
Everyone who heard the man started to feel the Spirit Essence in the air and truly, they could feel their bodies being surrounded by a boundless amount of it. When one sat down to cultivate, many followed, and soon everyone in the crowd was cultivating in silence.
