"No your didn't take his robe!" Carly gasped, "And then ran right into him!"
I groaned, "Yes, Carly, that's exactly what I just told you happened." We were sitting in my room the following day, Friday, getting ready for our graduation ceremony.
"And what did he say?!"
"He asked me why I was stealing his robe instead of wearing mine, I told him it was dirty even though it's not but that it wasn't stealing if I put it back. He asked why I didn't grab mine to wash it, and I asked him why he was interrogating me. He laughed and told me it was fine, that he didn't care if I borrowed it, then he told me to make sure I bring it back, but not to worry about washing it. He was looking at me weird when he said it. Like he wanted me not to wash it. His eyes were swirling." Just thinking about that makes my heart flutter.
"Wait, his eyes were swirling? You're sure???"
"I'm positive, Carly. I wouldn't be able to forget that if I tried." Which is true. I've always been attracted to him, but I've never gotten even a hint that he felt anything towards me, too. Except in that moment, I felt like he did.
"No offense, but my brother doesn't show interest in females. Not that you aren't a looker, because you're hot, but I've never seen him give anybody the time of day. Although, now that I'm thinking about it..." She trailed off, not finishing her sentence. I looked in her direction, her eyebrows were scrunched together, like she was deep in thought.
"What? What is it?"
"He did seem particularly interest in watching your fight with Warren yesterday. Like he couldn't take his eyes off of you. Even when Warren left and headed towards the infirmary."
"Don't do that, Carl." I said, using the nickname she hates. I saw her flinch. "Don't add fuel to the fire. Don't make me feel like there's evidence he has feelings for me, too, because I don't want that. I only have to wait one more day to find out if we're mates or not, and I don't want to spend it anxious. Only to be disappointed when we aren't mates. I'm already worked up enough."
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
"Sorry, Tal, but you asked me to finish my sentence!"
"Only because you started the sentence." I rolled my eyes at her.
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. I know how worked up you are about tomorrow. I shouldn't have said anything. How cool would that be, though, you two being mates. I mean, once I get passed what being mated to him actually means," she shuddered, "it would be super cool to have you be my actual sister! Well, sister in-law, once you tie the knot, but that would be awesome."
I chuckled, "Trust me, I know. I've thought about that, too. Let's finish getting ready, so we can get this ceremony over with."

Graduation went off without a hitch, thank goodness, and we were free! High school was behind us, and I couldn't be happier. Not that I had a terrible experience there, but I was glad to be done. I was ready to start the next chapter of my life. At first, we were going to have a big pack BBQ, but with my birthday being the day after graduation, my dad asked Alpha Daniel if we could just wait until Saturday to do it, instead of having 2 separate parties.
Silver Night always has a BBQ for pack members on their 18th birthday. Sometimes, if birthdays are close enough, we wait until after they're all passed to do it. So if there are 3 birthdays within a week, we'll just wait and have the party on the Saturday after them. Otherwise, there are times we would be having BBQ's 3 or 4 times a week. Our pack is pretty big, which means lots of kids.
To say I'm nervous is an understatement. I honestly don't expect to sleep at all tonight.
"Hey, would you want to have a girls night tonight? We can grab a bunch of snacks, watch scary movies, whatever."
"Oh my gosh, we haven't done that in forever, that's a great idea. But I have a feeling it's not because you miss me. I think it's because you're too nervous to sleep, and you don't want to be up all night, laying in bed, and by yourself." Carly knows me so well.
"You caught me. Guilty as charged."
"Knew it. I'll be there at 8. And I'll bring all my stuff to get ready in your room tomorrow, so we can get ready together."
"You brought it over today, and left it scattered all over my room. How much else could you possibly have to bring?" Organized is one thing Carly is not. There is make-up, hair products, and her clothes all over my floor. I'll be surprised if I don't break my neck on my way to the bathroom when we get back.
"You're right, I'll just have to grab my dress."
We made it back to the pack house and she veered off to her parents house. Her dad offered to let her move into the pack house early, but she wasn't ready. She was enjoying being the only child home, since Cameron moved into the pack house a few years ago. I sighed and made my way upstairs to try and put my room back into some sort of order.

Carly showed up at 8, and before long, we had demolished all of our snacks and watched 2 scary movies. With Carly snoring in my bed beside me, I finally drifted off to sleep.
