Chapter 2 : The Outsider of the Chessboard

Okay, some chapters will be short while some will be long...

Chapters will be harder to make from now on becuz story tends to get boring at the middle.

enjoy~

I wake up to see the scenery unchanged, rocks.

The temperature around this time was cold, the reason was probably due to lack of energy,

I used a considerable amount of effort to get up and then decided to try another solution to escape.

Once again, I tried to push open the door, though I expected nothing out of it, the door is easily pushed aside without any difficulties.

This really surprised me, this was completely different compared to yesterday.

Yesterday? It might be still today... I can't really tell anymore.

The room was lit with strange glowing stones at the corner, similar to a child's nightlight. I can already feel my eyes relaxing and a sense of relief calmed down my body.

The room is particularly large, the glowing stones were lined up on the two sides of the wall forming straight lines. This really caused great ease to me.

At the very end of the room, I can see a game like element fixed on the ground.

A sword.

Yes, a sword. It is right there, stabbed onto the rocky ground, and emits some sort of unusual presence.

It was an ominous black blade, I could already get the 'Don't touch this thing' type of feeling from it.

It felt dangerous, dark, evil... but who cares, I'm not going to attempt to pull it out, a sword will do no good in my current situation.

No more doors around, I'll just be a good boy and walk myself out.

I left that creepy room, and now my options became very limited, I should try and walk back to the start and enter the other path, more like I must walk back, I don't really have a choice in this.

I then began to move my body towards the entrance and test my luck and go to the left route, but human limitations finally hit my mortal body.

Damn... I'm hungry.

The food they gave me at prison was basically crap. Not only did it give me the urge to vomit, it also did not even calm down my appetite.

Walking is just a pain now, with this intense desire to rest and eat, my motivation seems to have dropped massively.

In addition, I have no water... luckily I am not thirsty or I might as well give up and die pathetically, and believe me, no one wants to die in a lame way.

If I view this logically, I am screwed. I lack some human basic needs, I don't know where to go, there is a dragon here that is supposed to devour me.

What keeps me going, I want to ask that to myself.

The only thing I could think of is... none.

Maybe it is just the desire to live, survival is built in the human mind... besides that, myemotional ties with other people is almost non-existent, Norman was the only one close enough I could actually call a friend, but I'm not that passionate enough to actually treat him like my mental salvation.

What else, my family... not really, mom and dad is bias, uncle is a pervert, sister is... well... I just dislike her, but don't actually hate her, that sort of thing.

As I think of stuff like that, I somehow managed to distract myself from my hunger, and going back from then became slightly more easier.

I kept on going and finally found something really amazing, it was so great to the point I dropped onto the floor and started sobbing.

A man should not cry, I tell that to myself most of the time, but it is hopeless.

A dead end.

After travelling for an unknown amount of time, I reached to the end, and found nothing.

Despair, this was an emotion I am feeling now, no where to go, no where to run, cannot escape, trapped, I quietly whispered words of self comfort but it makes no effect.

Weak, pathetic, lifeless... I lay there feeling worthless for not being able to do anything about it. But by any chance I escape, what should I do next, nothing, nothing at all, my existance served no purpose in this world.

No mana, no magic, just a regular human from the modern society. No combat experience, no knowledge that can help me pass through this rough moment.

I try to think of a method to end my worry life painlessly, but the fear was uncontrollable, in the end I just waited there to slowly wither away.

If this was a RPG situation, I would be either saved by some beauty or I would undergo some sort of transformation, awakening some sort of hidden ability, but the sad part is none of those happened to me.

Instead of that, an earthquake occurred and I start to rumble about, whoever caused this deserved some cursing, I just want to die peacefully now.

Some weird transparent objects started to appear from the ground, they are like ghost lizards and I mean see-through lizards and not a lizard man nor a hallucination, because I'm sure I'm still sane enough to compare reality and illusions.

[You, human, come with me~.]

One of the lizard creatures started talking and without even waiting for a reply, he continues his sentence.

[Lord Loganth wants to see you~.]

It spoke perfect demon language, or whatever it was called. It did not seem like a demon but more like a dragon, a small one.

[Nah, I'm too tired... shoo shoo, don't disturb me.]

There is no point meeting the dragon, its gonna eat me anyway... Well, at least its a pretty cool way to die compared to this but... if I go, it would look like I want to get eaten... so refusing is the best way to save some face.

[But~ Lord Loganth wants to see you~.]

I'm halfway dying here and some mini spirit dragon is pestering me to meet a bigger dragon. But... its not like there is anything else to do right?

[Yeah sure... I guess.]

I practically crawled my way to the spiritual dragon since I was exhausted, stabbing pain on my kneecaps could be felt due to the rocky ground but my starving body didn't seem to care about pain anymore.

I am now in front of the mini dragon, close enough for it to actually bite off my head in a go, but I had to remain calm, freaking out would definitely lead to a bad end.

[So... where do we go?]

I ask with the most pleasant and polite tone of voice I could muster, it then opened its big jaws and swallowed me whole.

It felt really disgusting, describing it would be disturbing so I will leave the details out, anyway the dragon seemed to have begun moving by the time I collected myself.

After a while the dragon spit me out like a was some sort of nauseating food, I come to realise that I was in another spacious room.

[Where... am I?]

I spout out a cliche line as I began looking 360-degrees around the place, and the most obvious thing of interest is the dark-green dragon a 20 meters in front of me.

[Raaaaaaaaaaaawr....]

Oh my.... the thing roared-ed at me, is it pissed off?

[Raaaawr... aaawr.... Ehem, ehem... sorry there lad, trying to adjust a bit, 'been since I've spoken demon, anyway I want to speak with you at the moment, and don't worry... I have food for human's like you prepared.]

The dragon spoke with a relaxed tone, but I was more focused on what he said about food.

A few spirit dragons came and ejected food from their mouths like how I was, fruits of many types I have not seen were displayed out neatly.

I took one fruit from the middle that was similar to an apple, though it was purple, I begun swallowing it quickly and proceeded to devour another.

[Woah, kid stop right there.]

The dragon shouted that before I ate a pear like fruit that I was holding between my fingers, I gave a unpleased glare but waited for the dragon to continue.

[For that, you need to peel off the skin or else you'll get poisoned, if you're human that is.]

I took that into account and peeled of the skin with a sharp tooth it gave me before eating it like instructed.

[Now that you're done... lemme introduce myself first, my name is Loganth, the Soul Reaper.]

Soul... reaper? So it plans on stealing my soul or something.

[The reason you're here is because I want myself out of this barrier.]

Oh right... the guards said that this place is supposed to imprison this dragon I'm facing now.

[And of course.... I won't ask you to help me without benefits, ask me anything you desire and I will grant it to you, as long as it's within my capabilities.]

Is this one of those contract things? Where you trade your soul or something for some imbalanced power.

[Then... can I return to my world?]

The dragon was confused from my request and I enlightened it about my situation. The summoning, me becoming the demon lord, imprisoned and then sent here to be eaten.

[I see young lad, you have no where else to go huh,] the dragon said while absorbing the information I have given, [I can't exactly help you with that but I can help you adapt in this world, in that case I shall teach you how to use your powers as the Spell Weaver.]

What... Spell Weaver, did I undergo some sort of transformation after all, that is impossible...

[You seem confused lad, in our world there was once a man called the Spell Weaver, he was a man more powerful than any, far stronger than any demon even though he's a human.]

The dragon Loganth told the tale and I listened, it was a typical story about a hero saving the world by slaying the demon lord using powerful magic, but that was something that happened 4000 years ago in this world.

[The point is... you're a new Spell Weaver, I can tell because I meet one before. Spell Weavers have this unique flow of mana on their bodies, traveling like a stream... Though your case is much more special, I can see the flow of mana on you but inside... there is nothing... no mana at all.]

So I am someone special now, but what he meant by inside... ah right I told that my mana potency is Grade 0, the so called weakest being that does not have mana.

[Well that doesn't matter lad, Spell Weavers like you can easily use the mana in the air.] the dragon reassured me while thinking again.

[How 'bout this, I teach you how to control mana and maybe a basic spell then get you out of here, for exchange you go to the Dragon Empire and find a city called Daren, from there you try to find the lord there and tell the ruler this, 'Loganth is in Eril, save him' or something like that.]

Eeeh... that sounds pretty good actually, but how can this dragon get me out?

[As for what you're thinking, my familiars can send you out by swallowing you then escaping, sadly I am too large in size and I can't pass through the planes of life and death freely as they do.]

Loganth must be referring to the Spirit dragons, if so I can see why they can get food so easily.

[I accept...]

[Good good, then I shall begin your training.]
