Avrin looked at the next text that came into view. It soon became clear for him to read, and after spending some time, he was stunned. "Is this what they call a cultivation method?" He wasn't sure, but the more he read, the more it seemed like it was. more than that, it was even tailor made for him, it's only requirement being the possession of an object called the Null Heart of Allspace.
Avrin remembered the heart that was placed in his chest by the being that had reincarnated him. His brows furrowed for a moment. Then he continued to read the text. He had a feeling that it went beyond his understanding, but it was dumbed down for him.
"Existence is made of frequencies and vibrations that define the energies derived from the vacuum of emptiness. These things create fractals that expand infinitely or shrink infinitely. Particles that form matter are left in their wake, like an ever-rippling ocean. However, living beings are so used to these forms of energies, as they are from the same source, that they cannot perceive them in any way other than the energies they use."
Tilting his head, Avrin recalled a discussion from his past life with a researcher who talked about the vacuum of space and the quantum field theory and zero-point energy. humanity devised many experiments and had thought they could tap into the potential of this energy, but hundreds of years after its discovery, it still eluded them. The experiments were always too dangerous or cataclysmic,so the proverbial breakthrough always remained so close yet so far, as if it were on the other side of an unbreakable window.
"Who was this Pathless? Doesn't this mean he could tap into all energies of the universe? Where is he?" Avrin doubted a being of that level could die if he could cultivate such a method of power.
After reading the introduction, he turned the page, where it explained how to improve one's body with matter. "Use the beat of your heart as a vibration, and tune its frequency to existence. Once you master how to tune your heart, you will detect all forms of energy and use them to empower yourself. You must discover your own method of power; do not follow a setup, for paths have ends. This blind traversal is the most dangerous, where even your true soul may perish, but you will have no limits."
Avrin read some more before he left the book and opened his mind, giving a deep sigh in awe and admiration. "What an amazing individual. He used himself as a guinea pig." Such a person was worthy of respect, even if Avrin didn't know him.
He wanted to dive back in, but before he could, he heard a knock on his door. "Come in," he spoke up, watching his mum walk in, but she seemed to smile in such a giddy manner. "??" Avrin wasn't sure what she was happy about, but he then saw a woman and a girl around Avrin's age walk inside behind her.
"Dear, you have a visitor," his mum spoke. The girl stepped forward, her hands in front of her, as her cheeks were red from embarrassment. Avrin remembered this girl; she was the one he had saved from the wolf when she was pushed down by the leader of the troublemakers earlier. Her being here made more sense now.
He watched as the girl's mother smiled, placing her hands on each of her daughter's shoulders. "Avrin, thank you so much for saving Jeyna. The bravery you showed is something I wish all those in this village had," the woman smiled sincerely.
"You're welcome!" Avrin replied softly. Avrin's mum remained silent, but her smile was so wide, it reminded him of his dad's when he got to show off. Avrin blinked as he then looked at the woman, suddenly nudged her daughter and mumbled to her. "Well, you're the one that begged and dragged me to come here. Didn't you want to say something to him?" forcing her daughter as she laughed a little.

Jeyna's face reddened more, her lips tight as she was quiet for longer, before she clenched her little hands and brought up the courage to do what she came here to do. She suddenly bowed to Avrin and walked over before hugging him tightly for a few moments before heading back and speaking fast. "Y-you better not die from your injuries and get well soon, because in the future, I'll marry you!!" She then bowed again, her cheeks now so red at this point that they looked like ripe tomatoes.
Not just Avrin, but Jeyna's mum and Avrin's mum were stunned. They watched as the girl suddenly rushed downstairs from embarrassment after leaving the room. Jeyna's mum was now blushing, thanking Audrene and Avrin profusely again before heading off to catch up to her daughter.
"Uhh... Mum, what was that about?" Avrin looked a bit confused. Even he couldn't help but appear shy from the situation. When he looked at his mum, though, he saw a creepy grin on her face.
"Hehe, looks like my little boy is popular. I'm so proud of you, saving her from the clutches of danger! It's so romantic! I doubt she will be the only one." Audrene smiled as she sat beside Avrin and hugged him tenderly.
"Oh? I guess you heard about that. I couldn't let someone die so miserably; that snotty coward even pushed her down..." he spoke a little irritated. His mum leaned back and spoke to ease his annoyance. "You don't have to worry about that annoyance again. When you were unconscious, the other kids told us what happened. His parents were so ashamed that they sent him to his uncle's village, forcing him into some hard work and punishment to learn from his mistake, saying this was the last straw."
"Well, it serves him right, I guess. I doubt anyone would want to be around such a person after all that." Avrin chimed in, but when he looked at his mum, he felt a little nervous. "W-why are you still smiling like that? It's making me scared, mum..." he grumbled.
His mum spoke again. "Well, what happened just now reminded me of the several offers I got for you, about arranging a marriage. A few girls are quite interested in my handsome, brave boy."
Avrin was clearly unimpressed, but was sweating a bit. "Mum! Please, I have my whole life ahead of me. I'm too young to even consider that!" he begged. His mum, meanwhile, raised a brow. "Huh? What too young? Your father was even younger than you when he tried to win my affection."
Quivering with worry, he didn't dare argue too much with his mum, but this was a hill he would die on. "If you try to do this behind my back, I'll be angry at you and dad forever and even run away! But if you give me time and let me do what I need to do, I promise I'll get married... eventually." He mumbled the last few words.
His mum was stunned. She knew Avrin's personality and understood better than anyone how firm he could be when deciding on something. "Ah, my dear baby, you're making things so hard for your old mum... I only have you... When you're gone, I'll be alone with your stupid father..." Her face looked a little teary-eyed. It tugged at Avrin's usually neutral heart, but then he listened.
"When I'm gone? Does that mean you..." His mum interrupted him, sighing quietly. "The day you showed how smart and talented you are in learning, I knew that one day you would leave this village. I tried so hard to hide it and ignore it, but then this happened. It really hurts. I wanted you to stay longer as my child, but you grew up so fast. In the end, I want what's best for you, Avrin."
She gently touched his cheek, showing affection and worry. "Forson, the other adults, and even your dad now have been pestering me about you being meant for greater things…that this is good for the village. Bah, what village!, you're my son. You should do what's best for you. Just promise me you will write back and visit us."
Avrin didn't realize it, but his eyes watered a bit. "You're the best." He reached over and hugged her tightly. He could never not feel anything; this woman and her husband, despite not being related to him, took him in and raised him like their own, showing deep love and affection when his original parents so easily threw him away. He would die for them.
"I promise, not only will I write and visit, but I'll make sure you and dad live better, and the village too." A serious look was on his face. His mother smiled happily when she saw that look. "I believe you. Just be safe; me and your father will be fine."
