As I opened my eyes, I found myself looking at an unfamiliar sky. It was night, and the stars were shining bright.
I soon realized that I was lying on my back. Was I sleeping here? I decided to get up and take a look around. Fields of grass immediately began to litter my view in all directions.
Where am I?
I tried searching my brain for answers, but I found nothing. As I started to wonder what I did before I ended up here, I realized something shocking.
I don't really know anything.
So I tried looking at my clothes for any clues. I was wearing a light brown shirt along with some pants of a darker colour. They seemed to allow easy movement but they had no pockets. My shoes were fairly comfortable as well, and they appeared to be made of leather.
As I moved my arms around, I noticed a small mark on the inside of my wrist. It seemed to be in ink, a small star with a circle in it's centre. I tried rubbing it off but nothing happened.
Countless questions began to fill my head, but no answers came. What's going on? I can't remember anything at all.
Alright. Okay. I need to calm down.
I began looking around for anything that I could remember, and that's when I saw her. How did I not notice her before?
A few meters away from me, there was a woman lying on the ground with her eyes closed.
I slowly made my way towards her. Was she like me?
As I approached closer, I got a clearer look at her. She looked to be in her early twenties, average height and with skin of a light complexion.
Her most distinct feature however, was her unnaturally light rose-golden hair that flowed past her shoulders. It was made even more "distinct" by a few braids she had near her forehead.
In any case, one look at this woman's face would tell anyone how beautiful she really was.
As for her clothes, she was wearing a plain light blue dress with an intricate pattern around the waist. To be honest, I wasn't really sure sure how colour accurate my observations were given how dark it was out here. With only the moonlight lighting up her face, I saw that she had begun to wake up and immediately stepped back.
While she got up and started looking around, I simply stood there thinking of what to say.
As I was looking at this woman, a sound began ringing in my head. It was my voice.
"I have to save her! I cannot fail."
My head became hazy and I closed my eyes to focus on the voice. Was I remembering something?
But it was already gone.
"Hey, are you alright?" I heard a new voice.
I quickly opened my eyes to see that the woman was now less than a meter away from me.
What was that voice in my head?

"Hey, do you know what's going on?" she asked.
I was saying that I had to save someone? A girl. Who was it?
"I seem to have lost my memory" she continued.
Was it this woman? Is she the one I needed to save?
I couldn't help but let out a small laugh. How could I save her when I don't even know what's going on myself.
"What's so funny?" she asked.
I had been ignoring her this whole time.
She looked at me again, and immediately the look in her face changed to that of enmity.
She quickly distanced herself from me.
As I continued to stand there, I could feel a dangerous aura emanating from her.
"Are you the one who brought me here and erased my memories?" she asked with her voice wavering. She noticed it too. I suppose there was a bit of fear mixed in.
"Answer me!" she raised her voice.
I need to be careful. She's in the same situation as me. I cannot afford to make her an enemy.
"I woke up here without my memories" I replied calmly "The same as you"
Upon hearing that, she seemed to lower her guard a bit. "How can I trust you? How do I know you're telling the truth" she asked nonetheless.
How can she trust me? I could plead my heart out and explain my situation, but something tangible that could relate us both to the same situation would be much easier.
My mind raced and then I remembered the star. The star on my wrist. I seem to have lost my previous memories but even so this star seemed unfamiliar, almost like it was placed on me.
This was a long shot.
"Show me your wrist" I asked confidently.
But why not?
"Huh!?" she tilted her head in puzzlement. "You want to see my wrist?"
"Just show it to me" I said.
As she looked at her own wrist, she got even more confused. She decided to show it to me as well and there it was, a small star with a circle in the middle.
I showed her the star on my wrist and she seemed to realize something.
"Look" I started. "I don't know how we both ended up here or what we're supposed to do. But it's pretty clear that we're both in the same situation. We should help each other out."
She hesitated for a moment, and then finally said "Alright, I believe you".
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay good. Do you remember your name?" I asked softly.
"Yes" she smiled. "My name is Miria Sylce. You can just call me Miria.
I couldn't also help but smile. She was a strange woman. Just a few moments ago, she looked like she was about to kill me.
"What's yours?" Miria asked.
My name. I guess she needs to know my name.
"You can call me..... Rey"
I was unsure.
I didn't even know if my name was Rey, but that name just popped in my mind.
"Rey huh.. Is that it? Got a last name or anything?"
"Just Rey.. What about yours?"
"My last name?"
"Yeah does it mean anything?"
"I don't know" She said as she looked around."It just sort of came to me. I have no idea what kind of person I really was."
"Yeah it's the same for me. I have a general knowledge of things but I can't remember any of my memories" I told her bleakly.
This was an extreme loss. All of our past memories were just gone.
"What do we do?" she asked. "We can't just stay out here. It's dark and cold, we might run into something dangerous"
She was right. The first thing we needed to do was get out of these fields and find a nearby town.
"We just need keep walking until we reach a town" I told her. "Just don't wander off too much or I won't be able to protect you"
"Why would I need you to protect me?" She was irritated by what I had said.
"I can protect myself." she said confidently.
"Well suit yourself" I told her. But in my mind I could feel something welling up inside me. It felt like I had already experienced the loss of being unable to protect someone before.
Maybe I was being selfish.
Maybe I only wanted to prove something to myself.
But-
"I'll still protect her"
-I thought to myself.
I won't let any harm come to either of us.
And with that thought, we walked into the night.
Two confused people who had no idea of what either of them were doing.
With only the glow of the stars and the moon lighting our way.
