Greetings, Royal Road readers!
I didn't think to write this intro until I'd already published over 20 chapters on this site, but after getting some feedback from a number of wonderful and patient people, I thought it might be worthwhile to help newer readers establish a few expectations going into this first book, Sparking the Inferno.
I'm well aware that the type of story I'm sharing here is not your typical Royal Road fare. I don't expect my works to explode onto the Rising Stars list, or ever be featured near the top of the Best Rated list either. I'm fully okay with just getting some eyes on my writing and hopefully gaining a few followers in the weeks and months leading up to self-publication. Thank you to ANY of you who take the time and energy to digest my story in its entirety. I can say with the utmost certainty that I'm not the best writer in the world, and probably not even in the top 15% on this site, but I have faith in my story, my characters, and the direction I'm taking them.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Sparking the Inferno is a slow-burn story. I don't like exposition dumping, so I tend to build the world and the plot at a leisurely pace, only detailing out what is pertinent the viewpoint MC of the moment. I probably spend more time on setting and dialogue than necessary, but I really want the people and places to feel real and complete. I have enough material to keep me releasing content for the next five or six years, so if you choose to dive all the way in, you'll have plenty of entertainment in your future.
As long as I don't get hit by a bus.
With all that being said, thank you for stopping in. I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I'll make corrections when you find them. I hope you enjoy Sparking the Inferno, and I look forward to many years of telling you the story that has been haunting me for nearly 25 years now.
*If you haven't already, consider reading the book with the author's font settings enabled. I tried to put some thought into how this should look, and I think the formatting looks nice.
