Bo and Amelia

Bo and Amelia

Shedding his zip up hoodie, Bo tied it around his waist, exposing his well build arms and board shoulders then removed a bandana from his back pocket and wiping the sweat beginning to bead at his brow.

“Damn it’s hot,” he complained as the sun bore down on him and Amelia trekking through the forest.

“Do you have to be so loud?” she questioned annoyed while scanning the forest for infected.

“Oh, good lord, it ain’t like I’m gonna draw in a horde.”

“Then what’s that?” she asked pointing out a group of infected, each stood clothed in camping gear, surrounded by several tents.

“Practice,” he said smiling then brought his bow into position from being slung over his shoulder.

Notching an arrow onto the bow string then drew, his index knuckle found the anchor point like second nature.

“I’ll focus on takin’ care of these three, how about you take care of the ones comin’ from behind us,” he said releasing the arrow.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Amelia quickly turned to see two creatures steadily approaching toward them, her hands instinctually went to her thighs removing a knife from each thigh as she charged to meet both creatures. A knife in each hand she raced to meet them, driving a knife into the forehead of the first creature then the other under its chin into its skull. She yanked the knives smoothly out of their heads, turning to see Bo drop the other two with his bow along with another creature advancing into his blind spot. She threw a knife as the creature was inches away, the blade finding its mark causing it to fall to the earth, the knife protruded from the side of its head.

“That was close,” Bo stated with an excited smile as he turned to see the truly dead on the ground.

“Next time keep your voice down,” she said agitatedly as she approached to retrieving her knife.

Rolling his eyes, Bo strolled over to his own fallen creatures retrieving his arrows along with two gold wedding bands, a flint fire starter, a first aid kit, a cooler full of water bottles and food in the tents.

“There’s a trail,” Amelia stated looking down the dirt path, “There has to be a place to park around here.”

“Smart thinkin’,” Bo replied the asked, “Do you think its further up that way or down that way?”

“You go up the path and I’ll go further down.”

Parting from another, each heading in opposite directions, Amelia with a knife in hand and Bo an arrow notched ready to fire.

“Hey!” Amelia called to Bo, “Meet back here in ten… If one of us isn’t here, we look for each other.”
