“So is this information accurate?”
“Yes sir. I saw it myself. I have recorded the person but I can’t find any reports of this person circulating among the player base. He hasn’t been spotted and none of our scouts have heard anything either.”
“This is most unfortunate. If only there was some way to trace the players back to a location it would make our lives a lot earlier.”
“What I want to know is how did this go unnoticed. His presence should have tripped some magical sensor we have set up right?”
“Well, my guess is that the person is human. The only explanation I can think of is they accidentally stumbled across a void event and kept silent about it.”
“We must find this person. They might create an imbalance or leak the reality of our ‘game’.”
“I don’t believe we have to worry about that boss from our short conversation they seemed unaware and oblivious as everyone else. The only way they’ll find out is if someone slips up and everyone that knows has swore an oath of secrecy.”
“You understand the implications though of a person like that existing in their dimension right? It could lead to a destabilization of our current gate and more things could come through from both sides and we might be forced to abort the operation. This can not be allowed to happen. Use whatever connections you have to find this person and bring them to me. I will rectify this situation and stabilize the gate. We can’t allow this to spread or both our heads are on the line, and it will collapse the world order of their world and make our resource acquisitions that much more difficult. We are treading a very fine line, and no matter how much power you have. If what we are doing ever leaks the whole world will be after our heads.”
“Understood sir there is no need to worry my men will find him before long it will be impossible to progress far without your association’s aid. He will have to come by one of your facilities and we’ll spot him and bag him just you see.”
“You better! I’m not entirely sure what effects he could bring, but they aren’t good I can tell you that. Just let me know when you have found him.”
He then ended the conversation and cleaned up the magical residue of the communication.
“There’s no need to worry old man. He shouldn’t prove to be anything more than an annoyance at best and will be found in a week easy. Plus it’ll give me something to do other then monitor all these new ‘players’ that keep registering.”
“Hey SIS get me on the line with George I’ve got just the job for him.”
After a minute George was finally able to pick up and answered.
“What’s the target this time boss?”
“There is a fey that has managed to get past our magical sensors. I’ll need him tracked down and bagged and tagged. The old man wants to purge him and make sure that none of our activities are leaking across worlds. He fears that he might find out the truth about the whole ‘game’.”
“Alright I’ll need a description and then I’ll send out my people.”
“He is playing as a fox-kin and has an entourage that is soul bound to him consisting of an elf, dwarf, dragonkin, and human. I’ve hampered his movements and progress so he should come to some of our associates at some point for help. But I’m limited in my ability to track him so it was all that I could do to try to make him easier to find. I’ll need your men to hunt him and his buddies down on the ground. I’ll send you an email with specifics later.”
“I’ll get my men in and about hitting up all the information brokers we know. I’ll also have a small squad hitting up the forums and chat rooms trying to beg anyone that we believe might have a connection to him.”
“Good let me know what you find as soon as you do. This should be a breeze but if you require extra assistance let me know immediately.”
“Understood sir. Don’t worry a hair about this sir. It will be taken care of immediately.”
He then ended the call and sighed. It might be an easy job but it would interrupt his weekly routine he had going. His actions involving mana were quite limited due to trying not to spread its existence around destabilizing the gate, but he wanted this job done faster rather than later. He quickly made eight little birds that seeked out ambient mana.
This kid had to be subcousiosly leaking mana if his soul really was that of a fey. These birds would seek it out and hopefully find it. The problem was that mana did originally exist here and they could get lost in some ancient mana location or something so he made eight to be extra sure that he would be found.
“I just hope I get this done before the new movie showing I bought tickets for.”

“Are you sure we’re going the right way old man, and what makes you so sure it’s out here in the plains?”
“It’s in the stars my boy. God has shown me that this is the way to the prophet who will stop the coming light.”
“I also never understood that part. Why are we trying to stop this light? Aren’t we working for the church who works for the light?”
“They may work for the light, but their belief in the one true God has slackened. As a result, there are those that seek to tempt the powers of the light to do evil deeds for their own gain.”
“But why out here and what does this prophet even look like?”
“I have no idea myself the stars only point an arrow to … it moved.”
“What moved? Don’t tell me it was in the opposite direction.”

“No, it is closer now hurry this way we might be able to catch up to them by tomorrow if we’re lucky.”
“We better find this prophet soon. I agreed to this request because the pay was good, but we’ve seen nothing for months! I’m going to lose my edge at this rate. I haven’t had a decent fight in a long time.”
“Don’t worry my boy the world will soon be enveloped in war soon enough. Enjoy this peace while it lasts.”
“Look I know you're rich and everything uncle, but why don’t we leave this the church and not pursue it without their help. They would have the resources to find this ‘prophet’ way better than us two.”
“Because the enemy has already infected the church. Our only choice is to rely on ourselves and those I can trust which isn’t many.”
“But why are you blowing your fortune from your successful paper on sanitation that the church rewarded you on this? Surely you would have pursued you lust for knowledge and done more scientific research?”
“It was a vision, my boy. I was shown a vision by God that a prophet was coming the sign are written in the stars and in the nature around us. I couldn’t pursue my research knowing that it would all be for naught if this prophet doesn’t succeed in its mission.”
“What makes you so sure about this uncle. I’ve looked into your ramblings myself, but all my contacts keep telling me is that it’s unusual, but not out of the ordinary and nothing more.”
“You shall see my boy within the week we will find this prophet and all will be clear.”
“Can we at least stop for the night? The moon is full but I’m drained let’s sleep now and head out in the morning with new energy.”
“I hate to agree with you, but you are right. We must not allow our appearances to falter in front of the prophet. I would be ashamed to be before God’s prophet in tatter I will have to change to my nicest clothes.”
‘That’s not the point! … Whatever at least we’re stopping at least.”
The Monster’s Abyss: Velouria
She was alive! She’s alive! I thought I had lost her for sure when she was taken away from me. It definitely was strange when Holly had brought me that boy at first, but when I examined his soul there was no doubt. My baby girl had come back to me!
I wished I could have spent more time with her, to be honest, but I knew that she needed to leave. If I had kept her here she never would have the opportunity to learn what she needed. I had to stay here and just offer my support from a distance though.
The world needed me to remain dead. If not the beast-kin would have declared war against the humans for having me ‘killed’. Before the void event that stranded these souls here. I was researching void technology and magic with many other, but when we failed and caused the void event that sent these people here. I had to make it all seem like an event I had caused myself. It would shift everyone's blame to me and not my fellow researchers.
In all actuality, I had hoped to travel the void and find my long lost daughter, but when we reappeared in the Monster’s Abyss I thought that God was toying with me. The only reason I had come through unscathed was that of some enchantments that I had that protected my soul, and since I was a fey my mana body wasn’t able to be mutated by the void.
In repentance for the lives lost as a result of the experiment. I gathered the remaining survivors that had become half demons due to the void event. I created this community and had prepared to live out my days in atonement for my actions.
Never did I think I would find my long lost daughter. In a new body no less. She must have found her way back to our world in here new body. I shed her of that weak illusion magic. It cleansed him of that imaginary form and released her true form.
Just seeing my daughter again brought tears to my eyes. I gently brushed her hair and fur before cleaning her from her adventure. I took in her every feature and tried to burn them to my memory. It really was my little girl!
Though he was probably not used to it. In time she would come to terms of her old form. The only thing I could not explain was the time she disappeared when she woke up that afternoon.
She said ‘logout’. What could that have meant and why did it make her disappear? I feel like I need to have more information, but my options are limited from here. I’ll have to ask Briana about that later.
Wait! I forgot about her father! This isn’t good he’ll soon find out what happened! I couldn’t face him after I lost her just weeks after giving birth to her. I hid from him in shame and poured all my efforts to try to get her back. They proved unfruitful though and here I am. I hope he isn’t too angry about that.
His soul bond to her due to his part of her birth should still be strong so he will definitely chase her down. I hope he doesn’t get too crazy though. I should tell her about him as well. Oh well I guess it won’t matter he should be in the forests of the Kalmarian Union. So it will take him a while to charter passage to the main continent.
“My lady I brought you your breakfast.”
I turned to see Holly in the doorway holding some breakfast for me. Strange? Did I stay up all night thinking without realizing it? Must be because of seeing Briana. It has to be seeing her after so many years must have really struck home for me.
“Sorry I’ve been thinking could you set it on the table.”
“Are you alright my lady? You have been acting quite unusual since your daughter Briana came by. Are you sure sending her away was for the best? She could have learned a lot from you.”
“I sent her with that journal. But the main reason is I’d try to protect her too much, and I have a feeling she’ll need to learn how to fend for herself in the future and judging from her companions she should be fine. It was just … hard … letting her go after seeing her after so many years.”
I felt streams of warm tears fall down my face. I couldn’t hold it back any longer. I wept openly in front of Holly. I should have kept a strong face, but I just couldn’t. Just knowing she was alive warmed my heart and I felt so much joy and sadness I couldn’t take it.
I missed seeing her grow up, I missed teaching her about the world and what it held, and I failed in my duty of protecting her in the first place. I was trying to hide it put I felt real relief taking in her exquisite eyes that I’d only had a glimpse of before they were whisked away from me.
I bailed and fell to the ground in tears crying.
“Are you okay my lady? Do you need me to get you something.”
“I missed her so much! I missed so much of her life! I’m such a failure of a parent! I don’t deserve this.”
“It’s okay my lady.”
Holly came over and started to stroke the fur on my tails helping soothe my soul.
“I don’t understand everything, but I can see your deep love for Briana. In my eyes, that love is proof enough that you didn’t fail as a parent. She’ll come back as she said and when she does you can pick up where thing left off right?”
“But she has new parents now. They raised her since she was a baby. She doesn’t remember anything about me!”
“There is always time to build new bonds, my lady. She’s still alive! So you can always build on that. It might take time, but I believe in the end she’ll accept you and you can finally be the family you want again.”
I sniffled and blew my nose on my sleeve before trying my tears and saying from the bottom of my heart.
“Thank you Holly. This means so much. Just, thank you.”
“It’s no trouble my lady … , but is it too much to ask for some training today?”
“Hahaha, no … no, it isn’t. I just need a minute then we can begin today’s training.”
I knew she was right. Briana was alive! I was just happy to have her back … maybe some skinship would help deepen our bond?
(ACHOO “Go away you snuggle monster!” ZZZZZ)
