"Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go!"
That little tyke, well I suppose he's not that little now, but he won't stop singing that stupid song. I guess its just in the nature of kids to repeat and repeat and repeat what they already know. But it is getting a bit on my nerves...
"Hey Sam, do you wanna hear a story?"
"YEAH! You always tell the BEST stories mommy"
"Alright, but you have to promise not to interrupt this one..."

The King's Sword is a surprisingly dingy affair for how affluent its namesake is, It's not even in a proper building, its just located in an alleyway that they block the end of, not to mention how low it is. I guess they just give out these pub names to whoever comes first. Still, it does do its flashy name justice, at least in one way.
The Perfect Paramerion (yes, they all have terrible sword names) is one of those drinks they'd put on the travel guide as a "must have", if we still had those, that is. But anyways, they only serve it to regulars, and have to present ID on ordering. You have to be of a certain age to play with power, I guess. But anyways, I'm not quite that age yet, so I just come here on my off days, and one of these days I'll be able to get it. They only allow you to get around 3 a year, and only 1 a week, probably to prevent them from being perpetually out of stock and making it even more of a rarity, or maybe just to prevent their most valued customers from keeling over too quickly.
Who I wouldn't kill for one right now... My hands close around the metallic throat of a creature I once called a friend, wrenching it from its rightful owner, flinging its head across the room to impact the wall in a disgusting clamor of snapping and splatting. Using this implement, I whack the arm off of another, causing it to spasm and writhe, away from its host. The man who it used to belong to? My husband.
A tall yet strangely mouse-ish type of man, I first met Samuel as an undergraduate in one of the required art classes, and we hit it off quite quickly. He had a penchant for mapping and hiking, so we'd often go on trips to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but more often than not we'd come back with some bumps and bruises from one too many excursion to find "a place I went last time I was here! It had this cool little...".
He looked strangely pained, as if what I had done had hurt him in more ways than physical, maybe there still was some remnant in these flesh-and-metal... No, it was too late already, they had somehow gotten into the shelter, and we still didn't know how they managed to make... WHAM! His legs got knocked off, crunching under the impact of a lead pipe like what an alien would consider carbon based life to sound. Sammy, one of my childhood friends stands there, looking like she's about to-
Sammy, short for Samantha, had been one of my closest friends for the longest times, I remember vividly coming over to her house every month and playing the same games, then talking about all the interesting things on television, staying up until just after midnight, just to feel the rush of staying up until we could joke about "see you tomorrow, wait..."

"HEY, you need to focus or we'll all get turned into whatever that motherf-" Sammy stops talking and starts paying attention herself at avoid getting impaled to be nail-like fingers of yet another, thing.

"Mommy, mommy! Why are there so many people with my name in this story?"
"Well, that's because everyone wants to be just like you, sweetie!"
"Now settle down, there's still a lot more story to go.."

H-how. We started off with 100 people in this shelter. How am I the only one left. The ONLY one left. There's not even any [FFFFFFF] robot people to take my anger at this fact out on. I don't know if Sammy or Jarod escaped, you can't exactly see who these people were once they turn and then die, just a facade of humanity left in that sculpted iron form, bleached of all color and personality. I suppose they're more "unified" that way, heh.
heh heh. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Well. If I'm the only one left, guess I better [ERRR] myself, at least that way they won't get me as well.
The outside of the shelter is surprisingly peaceful, I guess we beat all of the ones they sent at us. It is pretty bright though, coming out of a building lit by power-saving bulbs is always a bit disorienting. But what I didn't expect to see, was...
Jarod. He's fine, I guess. Bit of an asshole sometimes, everybody knows those types of people.
"I thought you got into the shelter, where have you been?"
"Oh, just here and there, I was just passing through the area and thought I'd stop by" He said with that often-annoying twang
"Wow. I know this is a bit of a strange question, but have you been to the King's Sword over in 4,5,-2? I've been meaning to try the Perfect Paramerion there sometimes"
"I can't say I have, sounds like a cool place, I might try it out sometime"
Jarod leaves, and I'm left standing there, wondering what in the mad world is going on.
