Selene's POV
Three years has passed since I woke up in this world. Ever since the incident that happened a year ago, the servants became more distant and won't even set foot in my room anymore.
Looks of disgust and fear grew more and more apparent each and everytime they accidentally saw me through the door ever since I activated my elemental magic.
It caused quite a ruckus within the house that it somehow even reached my parent's ears. Wondering on why they act like that, I indirectly requested for a history book containing magic history in it and found out that the people here can't activate their magic without help from the temple where they forcefully push open the 'block' in the body that prevents magic from manifesting which they like to call as 'Divine Purification'.
Of course anomalies like me appear every now and then, but the thing is, majority of the people here has 'weak' magic. The most powerful anomaly, like me, can only cast a damn fireball as big as a girl's fist, but she was treated as a monster and they conducted what in my previous world would be called as a 'Witch Hunt'.
They hunted her down and 'purified' her but the priests there has reported that her soul has gone too far. Their only chance to free her soul from the devil is to destroy her body where 'the Devil deeply resides'. Something is kinda fishy there... No. It's DEFINITELY fishy.
In my opinion, it's the temple wanting to control the people, and they don't need strong ones that can destroy them. Even the 'government' (nobility or whatsoever) of this world has also contributed to the hunt. They were the ones who 'brought light to the danger' that such anomalies may cause and they were the ones responsible for handing her over.
By activating my elemental magic, I established myself as an anomaly. Even more so when I expertly controlled it in huge amounts. It caused such a ruckus that even the head of the family has been informed, or so they say...
Oopsie.
From then on, the servants would just knock at my door and open the door as necessary and just leave my food or clothes. In return, I just leave it outside my door for them to pick up.
'I'm lonelyyyyy....'
I brushed my hair one last time before fixing my dress and putting on my coat. Looks stylish. I like it.
'Well, now that I'm meeting my parents, I can request to be allowed to go out. It's a bit too boring inside. I don't wanna take a walk outside incognito.'
...I thought back to the information that's been staying inside my mind playing itself over and over again like a broken record. This might be bad. No, this is possibly bad. I'm an anomaly so there's a chance they'll turn me over to the temple... Noooo...
Now I don't know whether to wish that this world is the same as THAT one or not... If it is really THAT and I am the one who I think I am right now, then there might be a chance that they won't hand me over... I hope.
I'm currently sitting on my bed that can be easily identified as a comforter with my feet folded underneath me and heard a servant coming near my room.
The servant finally got in front of my door and knocked before telling me to come out if I'm ready.
I got up and slipped in my footwear that was right in front of the door. Taking in a deep breath, I slid open the door.
Taking my historical first step outside, I felt pure excitement course through me, dwarfing the hesitation and nervousness that I felt. ...If ever there's any since I generally don't care.
'...So it's just that? Boo. Boring.'
The main reason why I don't even try to go out is because where would I go? So with no destination in mind, I decided to stay put in my room.
'...'
No matter how many times I looked around again and again, I still can't believe what I'm seeing.
'Is this like, a pseudo-heaven? Everything's so... clean. So white. So...'
"Shiny." I mumbled in a low voice.
I tried my best not to touch anything, even the floor. The whole place just makes me feel so out of place and felt filthy because of the out of the world cleanliness it has. I'd feel bad to stain such a lovely clean place.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
'...How big is this house? It's been twenty minutes!'
Along the way, we passed by many corridors and rooms. There's also a numerous amount of servants in here.
'There's about... a hundred of them? No. More than a hundred of them.'
We continued walking for another twenty minutes before we finally reached what seems like the living room.
It's four times bigger than my room, and my room has already been one thing. My room's as big and wide as two massive and long trucks parked in front of the other and the height's about the two trucks placed one on top of the other. The living room looks like it can fit about four hundred plus people inside and still have space to walk around.
Despite the fact that they're behind earth in terms of technology, their materials are enough to compensate for the lack of convenience for the people. Like, there's no cars but carriages instead. Although their machines or whatever are more Eco-friendly than on earth's since they use magic as the foundation and base for majority of their products so they're behind in a way.
It's actually very fascinating.
'...I like it. I like this house.'
The living room's theme color is blue. Nice. The table and chair's frames or whatever seems to be made of gold. The glass on the table looks very shiny and sturdy. Underneath is an entire floor of aquarium like, literally. A sturdy... glass? Well, whatever the thing is looks very sturdy. Every time you touch the floor, an almost invisible rainbow colored ripples will be produced.
Nice. Very nice.
There's even mini waterfalls starting from the ceiling running down the rocky walls towards the floor with the windows behind it so people can see outside.
In the gaps between the mini waterfalls are vines firmly clinging on the wall with blue rose-like flowers releasing a soft glow as if it's made of water with gems at its center.
Although I was amazed, I was aware that my expression is still the same as ever. An indifferent one.
The servant guiding me seemed pretty surprised at my lack of expression.
'Meh. Not all people can quickly change their expression, you know? (A/N: true story) I was born (?) with this face.'
The servant walked towards one of the sofas placed at the center and stood at the side, so I sat next to the servant.
'...So soft...'
After sitting down, I inconspicuously looked at the seat and confirmed its existence.
'Ah, so it's still there. Made me think for a second that I'm sitting on nothing but air.'
The servant guiding me went out of the living room and came back holding a tray with tea on it. After handing me my tea, the servant stood by the side again.
"Lyla-sama and Knight-sama will be arriving shortly." After saying that, the servant turned around and once again walked out of the room.
'In other words, they're on their way, eh?'
I just slowly sipped my tea and played with my creation, the water guardian.
Her face is the size of a teenager's thumb nail and her upper body is about two centimeters in length. Her lower body is that of a mermaid's. Her flowy hair is four centimeters long.
I made her by using my elemental magic and combined it to my drawing. I'm currently on the process of making her 'human' form and is expecting to finish in a week.
Although she has her own consciousness, unfortunately, she can't talk but it has been more fun and livelier with her around than when I was alone back then.
"How cute! I didn't know my daughter was this cute! Knight, don't come here with your filthy self. You'll stain her. Go away! Aww, she's even playing with magic!" A girly voice suddenly exclaimed squealing with happiness.
...Nope. No no. I refuse. Maybe they got the wrong room... THEY can't be my parents.
