Origin and Void

The origin story in the Bible claims God created the world in seven days. This is obviously false, another of the errors caused by errors in communication. On top of humans potentially lying for personal gain, an extremely high percentage of those who receive divine messages experience significant trauma. Older divine beings aren't usually too keen on modulating their energy emissions when forced to communicate with lesser beings, leaving the recipients often with subsequent hallucinations, difficulty communicating in their native language, or even complete psychotic breaks.

When God first arrived in the Void there was no time, or space, or matter. He rejected the Void with his Creation, and thus the Void was filled. The Almighty split his creation, and in doing so caused innumerable changes. He laid down realms of the physical, and the spiritual. The Creator intended to observe and study the life He would bring forth in its myriad forms. The first of the spiritual beings were nurtured from shattered fragments of His own soul. He named them Angels, and they would be his most loyal followers and able of assistants. The angels spread through the physical and spiritual realms an assisted in His great work of nurturing life.

As space solidified, time began. And with the creation of life, and the presence of time, the nature of the Void began to change. This awoke an ancient will, paradoxically existing within and binding the sheer absence of the Void, and it resisted the change brought about by the Creator.

The Will of the Void attempted to enforce the purity of nonexistence upon the area that had left its control. It felt the presence of solidified space, time, and life was a cancer, an ungainly growth marring the perfection of absolute oblivion.

Fortunately, the Creator sensed the powerful foe that sought to undo His great works. God blocked the Will of the Void outside the bounds of His growing universe. However as the Lord is the font of creation, the Will of the Void is its antithesis, an equal force in perfect opposition. The Will of the Void could prevent God's creation from spreading, but could not erase it. This likely upset the Will of the Void, as much as a collective entity of pure nothingness can experience emotion. Seeing the growth of his Creation stopped, the Almighty proposed that the two figures take a metaphorical step back, and let the forces they control speak for them. As long as the Will of the Void did not interfere, the Creator would stay his hand. The lifeforms the Almighty had caused to be born would be his Champions, to fight against the uncontrolled Void.

Seeing little hope in breaking the current stalemate, the Will of the Void agreed. It withdrew its presence, and allowed the unrestrained void to flood towards the nascent world. True to the pact, the Almighty did not intercept this wave of the void, but in his place stood the Angels, his firstborn. Imbued with his Light, the Angels stood firm. They displayed great prowess in holding back the tides of the Void. But just as a single drop of water, repeated continuously can wear down the greatest of mountains, even the mighty Angels could not withstand the never ceasing flood of the Void without loss.

Seeing the damage being wrought on his firstborn, the Lord felt their pain. He wished to rebuild their number, but the power of the Angels came at a price. Nurtured from shattered fragments of soul energy, the process required great time, focus, and power. This would leave the Creator vulnerable to the Will of the Void. Although a pact had been agreed to, the Almighty did not believe mere words could truly bind such an ancient and unfeeling force.

Unable to replenish the ranks of his firstborn, God turned to the other lifeforms that had begun to develop during the period he spent in conflict with the Will of the Void. Beats with terrifying physiques, capable of shattering the firmament. Mortal races of various forms that wielded fierce energies. All were summoned to support the resistance of the void energy.

Unfortunately, the Creator soon found most of the later creations summoned to the battlefield to be ill-suited for the conflict. As living beings not directly shaped by the hand of the Almighty, while they possessed powerful physiques, or control over the lesser elements of creation, their souls were their weakness. They did not have the resilience of the Angels, whose bodies made of solidified soul energy were able to resist all but the most intense of void energies.

The lesser creations fell rapidly in battle. Some were destroyed directly. The unlucky were infected with the energies of the void, and purged by their brethren after transforming into soulless abominations.

Seeing the effect of the energies of the void on the Almighty's lesser creations, the Will of the Void was inspired in a method to remove the blight of creation from its perfect void. Capturing a few of the corrupted abominations, it separated wisps of its own essence and will, and infused them into the soulless husks. Thus were born the Entropy Lords, generals carrying the Will of the Void to drain all energy from creation and bring about the return to nothingness. These beings quickly learned how to condense puppets in their own images , the first of the Void Drones, to more effectively combat the forces of the Creator than with simple waves of void energy alone.

While the legions of lesser creations were better able to resist the Void Drones due to their physical forms, they still suffered severe losses. The Angels were wholly occupied resisting the advent of the Entropy Lords. With the forces of the Creator occupied, waves of void energy were able to intrude on the world of the Almighty. The stain of the void spread throughout Creation, like ink infecting the purity of clear water.

The gradual destruction of the world He had created gave birth in the heart of the Creator. As his firstborn, the Angels felt this pain in the chest of their Father. Locked in endless battle with the Lords of Entropy, the Angels wished for nothing but to end their Lord's suffering. At that time, the long-standing deadlock was finally broken.

Two Angels, among the eldest of His firstborn, who had always fought side by side as brothers in battle, felt the echoes of pain in their hearts that came from the Creator. A wave of the void broke through the previous defenses, separating them from their fellows and leaving them at the mercy of the Entropy Lords against which they fought.

Feeling their burning in their chest, and facing their eternal enemy without support brought not despair, but only a heightened sense of purpose. One fought with sword and shield condensed from his own soul, a bulwark against the nothingness brought by the beasts of the void. The other shone like a star in the sky, endless beams of light erupting from his hands to strike down and overwrite the nothingness wrought by their foes. Spurring them on was the fire burning within them, which fed on their pain, loss, and resolve.

The pressure built up within their chests, until with a resounding explosion heard throughout the endless battlefield, it found release. A second pair of wings erupted from the backs of the two Angels, and with it an overwhelming surge of strength. Grasping this power instinctively, the two burst out with terrifying strength to attack the Entropy Lords who had besieged them. Where once they had been evenly matched due to the Angels having to constantly resist the corrupting influence of void energy, now the Lords of Entropy crumbled under their onslaught. The two brothers, having finished their foes, clasped hands and sent out their energy across the battlefield, helping their companions to resist the influence of the void energy and push back the forces of the Will of the Void.

The endless battle saw its first halt since the establishment of the Pact between the Creator and the Will of the Void.

The Will of the Void retreated to examine the developments among the Angels of the Creator, and prepare its Lords of Entropy to better challenge them. The Creator used the lull in the battle to gather the forces of its creations. While they had won a temporary respite, they had suffered tragic losses. Most of the lesser creations that answered the call to battle would never return. Even the Angels suffered significant casualties. The waves of void energy that had infiltrated the world of the Creator had wrought great destruction over His previously harmonious works.

While the Almighty contemplated the changes that must be enacted to preserve and strengthen the world of his creation, his gaze was drawn to the strongest of his children. They were the first to ascend to a power above what he had granted them at creation, and the reason for the break in the stalemate. They filled him with inspiration on how to deal with the Will of the Void and its minions, but before he sank into a long period of experimentation and creation, He honored them for their service.

The mighty warrior, with name of Michael, was appointed general of His armies, given the title "Shield of God." The wielder of light, with the name of Lucifer, was appointed advisor and consul of His creations, given the title "Star of the Morning." Thus was born the first of the Archangels.
