A hand reaches out of the pink fluffy comforter and smashes down on the button that only the half awake people of the world care about before disappearing back under the cover.

"Time to get up!"

"Let's go Raelyn, up and at'm young lady!"

"Just because it's your birthday doesn't mean you get to skip school, first day or not."

Rae lifted her head from the pillow, looking towards her door in an attempt to turn it into the soundproof portal it should have been and wished yet again that her dad wouldn't treat it like a bongo drum when she wanted just a tiny bit more sleep.

"I'm awake, I'm awake!  Enough with banging my door Daddy!"

"Alright, just make sure you are downstairs and out the door in time to get your sister to school.  Just because you are a senior this year doesn't mean you get to make your sister late for her first day at a new school."

"Grr, can't wait till she can drive herself." she mumbles as she rolls out of bed and heads into her bathroom to get ready for the day.

----------------------------------------

Finished prepping for the day and wearing jeans and a cute blouse she found on the Zon last week, she headed down the stairs that looked like they came out of a Cotillion guidebook.  Yet again reminded that her parents when they were designing the house 15 years ago had made really weird choices.

Entering the kitchen she found her sister Grace at the island picking at her plate in the hopes it would magically fill her up and put not an ounce of weight on her in the process.

Rolling her eyes at the newest common sight of the household she turned to get a few pieces of toast and start buttering them so she had something at least to munch on while driving to school.

Her mom walking in the kitchen from her parents bedroom, started going over the plans for the day as she was wont to do ending with "Raelyn, I just want to remind you that we are having just family over tonight for your party.  I know you want to go out with your friends but you can celebrate your birthday with family first."

"Ok Mom.  Only thing we really had planned was going riding, we can always do that this weekend up on the property. If that's ok?"

"That should be fine." Her mom replied after thinking for a moment.

"Awesome, Thanks Mom."  She said hugging her mom in thanks.

Walking by the counter to pick up her car keys she turned to her sister saying, "Let's go Bug, we need to get you to campus so you can find out just how annoying it is being in high school like the rest of the world."

Looking aggrieved as only a newly minted teenager was able to do her sister grabbed the backpack off the island and followed, "Don't call me Bug!  My name is Grace, not Bug!"

"Be nice to each other and have a great first day kiddos!" Their mom hollered out at them as they left the house.
