There was once a white snow field, where a small population of animals had lived, and humans rarely existed.
There laid a small fox, white with a tail dotted in black. He had bright fiery eyes, and pitch-black eyelashes.
The fox cub played all day long in his little den, waiting for his mother fox to come back with food.
The fox felt joy, living his best life each day in and out, playing, sleeping, eating, and walking with his mother.
Yet one day, the fox’s mother didn’t come back. The fox waited and waited without consuming anything, each day passing leaving the fox more and more tired to move.
The fox didn’t think anything bad of it, and he continued playing like usual. When he grew tired, he’d rest in the snow den his mother made him. When hungry, he’d munch on a few berries he found laid out on the ground. But when he wanted to play with someone, he found himself all alone... his favourite person to play with was his own mother, someone who he hadn’t seen in a week now.
So the brave little fox set out on a journey to find out his mother. A journey to find his long-lost playmate!!
When the fox set sail to his ship, he found a small human on the edge of the snow field. So the fox earnestly leapt closer to him. The fox had always been close with all the snow fields’ creatures, so what was new now?
The human was small and had snot all over his noses, the fox found Him silly, so he danced and played next to him, hoping for the human child to join him on his adventure!
And so the fox rubbed his snow-white back on the leg of the human child, asking him to play with him for a little bit. The little kid responded well! The little fox and the little kid played all noon, chasing one after the other and munching on some peaches when they were hungry.
The little kid went back home to his family, and the fox stayed at the outskirts of the snow fields to search for his mother a while longer. The fox knew the kid would come back tomorrow, and he had hoped that in the next day they’d go together to search for his mother. But what came tomorrow wasn’t the kid he was waiting for.
A group of adult humans the size of a mountain marched into the snow field, they looked for the fox which hid in a small hole in the snow he had dug himself. The fox was scared and terrified for the humans had a cage with them and, they all looked menacing.
It wasn’t long before the fox was found out, the humans grabbed him against his well. He had tried to struggle and flee from their grasp, yet the humans were smarter than the little fox and they were more in number. The humans were filled with greed, hungrily looking after the beautiful snow like fur of the white fox, they had wanted to sell him in the market hoping he’d fetch them a good price.
The humans had to beat the poor little fox, bruising his frail body. He yelped and he whimpered, he looked at them with his crimson red eyes pleadingly, a smouldering tear Rolled down from his eyes as he hoped that the humans would leave him be.
Yet the humans weren’t so merciful...
The little fox was put in a cage, left on the back of a pickup truck where he was clumped up against the cold iron of the car.
It was raining and it was cold, the little fox shivered and at this time the only thing that crossed his mind was the warm fur of his mother.
The little fox wished he’d find her soon, so he can finally be happy again. Memories of him and his mother resurfaced, how she’s cuddle him when he was cold from playing in the snow. How she’d bathe him and clean him when he was dirty, moreover when she would tell him nice things, that brought him a warmth from the inside.
The little fox was then shipped in the cage to a place that had a lot of humans in it, all of them eyed the little fox with greed and envy. The little fox didn’t spend long here though, for he was immediately transported to another place after a young human girl with fancy clothes had bought him.
He was brought to this big airplane that was going to ship the little fox to another country.
The small fox spent his time on the plane alone and lonely, he was rarely fed and taken care of, and he found out that his white fur had started to darken.
The little black dots on his tail had grown in size, and now his tail was fully black in colour.
After the little fox was let out from the plane, he was shipped in another car to go to the city with 3 scary humans who were taking the little fox to the rich human girl.
The car that was going to the human city came across a cliff that overlooked the ocean They had to cross it so that they could reach the mansion where the girl was staying.
Since it was dark and raining outside when they were driving, the tire of the car slipped! And the driver crashed falling down from the cliff into the water.
The car got submerged into the water! The little fox cried out and screeched, he was scared for his life as he saw the water rise higher and higher in the interior of the car. The humans who were in the car were all unconscious and he was the only one who could move. The little fox used all the force in his body to smash against the walls of the cage, hoping for a second to escape and flee.
Luckily for the little fox when the car had crashed the lock on the cage had broken with it! The fox barely managed to escape from the cage and went out from the car through the window.
The little snow fox used his small paws to swim out of the ocean, hurriedly moving upwards trying to reach the surface so he can breathe.
His hind legs stung him as he moved them, and a trail of red followed them in the water.
Finally, the little fox managed to figure his way out of the water, he swam to shore relying on nothing else but pure instinct.
The little fox limped as he walked out of the shore, his left hind leg had broken in the car crash. He tried his best to move but it was very hard for him.
The little fox let out small whimpers, tears swelling his eyes as he marched forward to a Broken tree stump to take shelter.
The small fox was wet, cold, and injured. He was scared of the cruel harsh world; how could everything be so different from how it was back home? Back in the snowfields when he was surrounded by white. When he was coated by the warmth of his mother’s love, where was that warmth now when he needed her the most?
The small fox slept wearily that day, with nightmares plaguing his dreams.
In the next morning the fox woke up to an unwelcome visitor to his tree stump.
A black serpent with a pink tongue that hissed at the weak fox. The serpent slithered its way inside the tree stump, slowly coming closer to the small fox.
The little fox cowered in fear at the back of the hollow stump, he was scared of the serpent for it was his first time seeing such an intimidating animal.
Suddenly the serpent lunged at the small fox!! It was aiming to bite its leg that was leaking with scarlet blood.
The snow fox closed his eyes and flailed his front paws, trying his best to defend himself. And to his surprise, it worked!!
The black serpent got hit on the top of its head with the paw of the snow fox which made it retreat. This made the black serpentine creature fall back and escape.
The little fox gave out a sigh of relief, but his body shivered with fear at how dangerous the world was.
Days went by and his leg had healed, he roamed his new inhabitant, and, in his way, he looked for his mother.
He knew he was a very long way from home, but nonetheless he never stopped Looking for her.
The snow fox was inside a big rainforest that was filled with big and scary animals! The little fox found himself usually hiding and fleeing in fear from the bigger animals, a smart and wise decision from the little snow fox.
Yet one day as he was walking, the snow fox came across a familiar face, the black serpent.
The serpent didn’t attack him this time, instead it talked to him.
The little fox was angry at the serpent, for it tried to kill him the last time he saw it! Yet the black serpent told him that he misunderstood, the black serpent only meant to give him a little hug, it was he who had overreacted. The black serpent only wanted to be the snow fox’s friend; it was he who attacked it first.
The black serpent was a poor victim, it was the snow fox who had wronged it after all.
The snow fox frowned, he felt awful for what he had done, his mother had always told him to be nice to others after all.
The snow fox apologized, he said he was sorry for being so mean, and he didn’t mean it. But the black serpent didn’t accept his apology! The serpent said that the snow fox was too cruel! And he made the serpent feel very sad.
The snow fox felt horrible, he wondered if this was the same reason why his mother had left as well. Did his mother leave him because he was a bad kid after all? Did his mother leave him because the little snow fox was a bad child?
The snow fox started sniffling and crying all of a sudden, and a smile grew on the black serpentine creature.
The black serpent had a sinister idea in its head, and its plan was set in motion soon after. The serpent told the snow fox that he could redeem himself, if the little fox did as the serpent told him to, the serpent would be oh so gracious to forgive him.
The serpent then told the little snow fox that it would forgive him once and for all if he allowed the black serpent to give him a very tight hug.
The little snow fox rejoiced! He spun around in circles with his tail wagging, his amber eyes giving off a scarlet glow. The task was very easy, and he would be able to apologize easily with it! Plus, it’s Been such a long time since the little snow fox had felt the warmth of someone else’s hug.
The snow fox obviously accepted the black serpent’s offer, and he watched as the serpentine creature slithered his way towards the little fox. The serpent’s movements seemed eerie and creepy, but nonetheless he couldn’t act properly on his feelings because he wanted the serpent to like him.
The black serpent got close to the ground where the snow fox was standing on. First it wrapped itself around his back legs, then it slowly crept up on the rest of the fox’s body.
The little snow fox felt very uncomfortable, he was barely breathing and the feeling on his skin wasn’t what he was used To. The hug his mother gave him was warm and was full of love, but this.... This was cold. It was choking him and making him unable to breath, but he couldn’t do anything about it, he wanted the black serpent to forgive him, and this was the only way.
The black serpent then climbed all the way towards the little fox’s neck, wrapping itself around it tightly. Then it moved to his mouth, and the snow fox was now unable to breath. The little fox barely managed to tell the black serpent that he was having a hard time breathing, and he felt scared. But the serpent didn’t listen to his wishes, it continued to wrap itself tighter and tighter around the snow fox’s body as it wished. The serpent whispered in the snow fox’s ears saying that it was okay, the snow fox should just let himself fall asleep, and leave everything to the black serpent.
The snow fox listened to it at the start, he felt sleepy and tired, he just wanted it to be over, and if he went to sleep, he’d get rid of it. But something inside of him burned for a second, a spark telling him to move, to defend himself. And so, the little snow fox bit the body of the serpent!!
The serpent recoiled and it unlatched itself from the fox’s body. But it wasn’t one to go down so easily! The serpent tried to lunge at the snow fox one last time to bite him in the neck. The snow fox tried to dodge, but.... The snow fox wasn’t so fortunate this time. Violet venom seeped its way inside the veins of the little snow fox. The little baby screamed in pain as it felt it’s whole-body itch and burn with the venom of the black serpent. The snow fox managed to hit away the black serpent and it fled immediately, but that wasn’t until it bit the snow fox and filled him with its venom.
The little snow fox fell onto the ground crying and whimpering, it hurt, it hurt him so much, but he couldn’t do anything but cry and call for his mother.
Where was she? Where was his mother? Why did she leave him alone, especially now when he’s about to die? He just wanted to see her one last time....
The snow fox’s beautiful white fur blackened, taking a void black colour like the deep abyss his mind was in. His rosy, red eyes had turned into an amethyst purple, filled with the venom that the serpent injected into him.
The snow fox became unrecognisable, he was now no longer the same little fox that his mother raised, he looked alien in nature, more similar to the black serpent that bit him than anything else.
He writhed there in pain, alone, in the rain, on the muddy forest floor.
After a single day the little fox got up from His sleep, it’s body aching and hard to move. But he got up and was happy to see that he was still alive. The snow fox was very thirsty, his throat was parched, and it felt as if he hadn’t taken a single sip of water in ages. So, the snow fox went to the closest pond in the forest to drink some water.
The snow fox limped to the pond, still feeling pain in his body. When he reached the pond, he took a few sips of water before looking at his own reflection on the surface of the pond.
The fox that looked back at him was unrecognisable, for an instance the little snow fox jumped from fright at what looked back at him. He thought he was looking at someone else entirely, so he turned around to see who was with him but in reality, he was alone, there was no one else there...
The little snow fox looked again into his reflection; the once beautiful white fur he had inherited from his mother was now gone... His last connection to his beloved mother now had vanished nowhere to be seen, the snow fox was devastated.
The snow fox whaled, his screams and cries were heard everywhere across the forest that day. He spent a whole week agonising over his fate, how could the world be so cruel to take away from him the last thing that reminded him of his mother? What was the reason for his suffering? What did the pure snow fox do to gain this?
And so, after a week the snow fox finally managed to move himself from next to the pond. He thought to himself that crying over what he had lost wouldn’t change anything, and he should go and look for his mother one last time.
Before he left, he saw a little rabbit. The rabbit had grey skin and red, amber eyes that reminded him of his old pair of eyes. The little rabbit went to drink some water when he saw the little black fox.
The little rabbit went to the fox and hopped around him; it told the little black fox that he hasn’t seen anyone who looked like him before. It was his first time seeing a fox with such a wonderful new colour.
The little black fox was happy for a little, until he remembered his old beautiful snow like fur when he slumped again. He told the rabbit about his past, how he had such a dazzling white fur, amber eyes, and azure blue eyelashes.
The little rabbit tapped his feet on the ground and said to the black fox that he had seen someone who looked like him in the city, but it was a female fox not a male one.
The little black fox’s face brightened, he shook the little rabbit and asked him where he saw the female snow fox. The little black fox thought to himself that it was Possible, this far away it was only possible, it could be his mother!!!
And so, the little black fox asked the rabbit for instructions on how to get to the city, and he went there immediately.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
He ran straight out of the forest, with only one thought in his mind, he’ll see his mother again!!
While he was running a thought came to his mind, would she recognise him? The little black fox slowed down his pace to a stop. Suddenly his body was riddled with fear, he was scared that it might be true, and even if he found his mother she wouldn’t recognise his new appearance, and even if she did, would she still take him back? He didn’t look like her after all...
For a moment the little black fox hesitated, he wanted to go back, to escape, to not see his mother afraid of the shame that might befall him.
He stopped, breathed, then cleared his mind. It was okay, yeah, it was okay! Even if she didn’t recognise him, he would make her remember!! After all he was her dear boy, right? She’ll remember her own son, right...?
The black fox continued to run towards the city, soon after reaching his destination. The streets were empty, it was night-time, and it was raining. That was to be expected, but it didn’t bother him because he was looking for a snow fox, not a human. But no matter how much he looked, the little black fox couldn’t find his mother... She was nowhere to be found, no matter how hard he tried to find her, she just simply wasn’t there.
The little black fox was depressed, he sat down on the lush green grass, and he took a rest. But as he was closing his eyes, he heard something, a voice, it was familiar. The little black fox’s ears perked up, his eyes brighter than ever and his body filled with Goosebumps. He knew who that voice was, it was his mother!!
The little black fox started running immediately, screaming at the moon lit night as he splashed the little water ponds on the ground with his small paws.
He reached where he heard his mother’s sound from, it was in a corner, and it was strangely lit unlike the rest of the street. When he turned around the corner, he found it... Empty? There was no one there, so where did his mother’s voice come from?
Then he noticed it... He turned to the source of the light and there he saw her, his mother. She was beautiful, gorgeous, her white fur was dazzling, and her eyes that screamed fire shone with a ray of light. It was his mother there was no doubt about it, he could recognise her from a million snow foxes if need be. But... His mother wasn’t actually there.
She was inside a box, he saw the humans use that box multiple times, the snow fox thought to himself that they called it, a TV?
His mother danced and played around with multiple humans on the TV, she looked like she was having the time of her life. The place on the TV was this beautiful city with glowing lights all over. She looked as if she went there by her own choice, she wanted to be there, all happy and beautiful she was.
But then again, what about him...
She couldn’t have forgotten about her own son, could she? She couldn’t leave her own son to pursue the human world and leave him alone.... Right?
The little black fox hoped that his mother was happy before he found her, he wanted her to be happy and healthy that was for sure. But even then, he didn’t expect to see... THIS?!
She was over there playing as if she hadn’t a care in the world, did she forget her own son?? What happened to all the time they spent together? Did they mean that little to her??
All the while he was there looking for her, all the trouble he went through, how many times he almost died to look for his mother, only to see her forgetting all about him. He bet that she didn’t even spare him a single thought, not even once...
The little black fox was filled with a lot of strange emotions. Anger, hate, sadness, envy...
He was angry that she left him, hateful for she didn’t come back, sad that she forgot all about him, and envious of the humans who were there beside her...
The little black fox ran away, back to the forest he ran away. He couldn’t handle the pain, and so lapis lazuli tears streamed down from his amethyst eyes.
The black fox went to the core of the forest, where all the big scary animals were. A part of him didn’t care what had happened to him, even if a lion jumped at him right now, he’d gladly accept his fate.
But nothing happened.
The little black fox reached the core of the forest safely, he laid there with his tail covering all of his body. He was cold and he was shivering, the rain had seeped down to the deepest crevice of his fur, and he was freezing. The fox was sad because of his loss, and now he felt as if he was going to freeze to death. his eyelids acted as a damn to hold the tears from flowing down into a river, but even that wasn’t so successful.
The little black fox felt sleepy, and deep inside, he wished that once he fell asleep, he wouldn’t wake up ever again.
In the morning the little black fox woke up. He found it hard to open up his eyes, but he felt a very familiar sensation. It was warmth...
This sort of sensation he had felt only once before, from only one other person.
Suddenly energy surged all over the little black fox’s body, and he jumped and looked back screaming “Mother Mother!!” again and again.
But when he woke up, he didn’t find his mother, he found someone else.
A black cat, Her skin as dark as the night’s sky, Her tail was filled with white dots, resembling the stars. The cat’s eyes were yellow like the sun with a piercing dark line reminding him of a crescent moon during an eclipse.
The black cat looked his age, She looked really Mysterious, but he only knew one thing, that She Was the most beautiful thing the little black fox had ever laid its eyes upon...
The black cat stretched and yawned, She looked over to the little black fox in confusion and asked him why he was so energetic in the morning.
The little black fox was confused, angry even! He wondered why the black cat was all over his body while he was sleeping. Could it be, She was trying to use him just like the black serpent?!
So, the little black fox took an offensive stance, he lowered the front part of his body and readied his feet so he could lunge towards the black cat.
He asked why the black cat had stuck to him while he was sleeping and what did the black cat want to do with him.
The black cat looked at him annoyed, offended from his obvious offensive stance. She told him that she saw him cold and freezing the previous night. The black cat knew that if she left the little black fox, he would’ve frozen to death overnight.
The black cat only wanted to help the snow fox, but that was how he repaid it? By acting hostile?
Those words sounded familiar to the little black fox, after all he had heard them somewhere else. The black serpent.
The serpent also told him that he was at fault, that the black serpent only wanted to be friendly and give him a hug, so what’s the difference now? Isn’t the black cat acting just the same? He couldn’t trust her.
But even against his own better judgment, even though he knew that it was wrong to trust the black cat, the share beauty She had held astounded him.
He couldn’t help himself but stare at the black cat’s beautiful black fur, it was mesmerising.
And so, the little black fox backed down, he apologized to the black cat and told Her that he was sorry. His response was only due to him having a very hard time here in the jungle.
The black cat gave a nonchalant look, as if it was indifferent to what the little black fox had said. If he apologized, if he didn’t, it wouldn’t matter to the black cat, because in her eyes the existence of the black fox was just that insignificant.
The black fox noticed that indifference, and it made him slightly annoyed.
The black fox asked the black cat about what she Was doing here in the forest, he was curious about the nature of this beautiful creature.
The black cat told him that this was Her home, and he was just trespassing. The black cat was being generous when She helped the black fox, when she could’ve easily just gone away and left him to die.
The black fox started to feel even worse, and so he thanked the black Cat for Her generosity.
A smile tugged at the black cat’s lips, and instantly the black fox was mesmerized. The black fox hadn’t in his life seen such a breath-taking scene. The little black fox was in a trance, he felt his heart flutter for a bit, and he was feeling a foreign feeling that he hadn’t tapped into before.
The black cat looked at the dazed fox, She looked amused Looking at the dumb expression the fox had on his face. The black cat asked the fox what he was planning to do, surely, he wouldn’t stay in the cat’s home forever.
The black fox stopped for a second and thought about it, the cat was right, what was he going to do now? The whole purpose of his trip was to look for his mother, and now that he found out that she left him on her own accord, what was his purpose.
The fox looked at the cat and said that he wondered about what he wanted to do himself, he told the cat that he was confused, lost even, he had nowhere to go now, he had lost everything...
The black cat looked over at the little fox and she had a look full of pity in Her eyes, the cat’s yellow iris pierced the heart of the black fox, finding nothing but grief and loss inside of it. The cat pitied the fox, and so she moved closer to him.
The cat rubbed the side of Her body against the fox’s, and then she hit him with Her tail across the nose.
The fox shouted at the black cat asking why She did that. The black cat gave off an amused chuckle as she looked at the fox’s reaction. She told him that she would offer him shelter, it was okay for the black fox to stay with the black cat until he had figured out what he wants to do next.
The black fox beamed at this! He was really happy that he’d get to stay with someone else for the first time in such a long while, especially someone so beautiful.
Even though the black fox hesitated for a bit since he was confused as to why the black cat was doing so much for him, he still accepted her offer.
The black fox jumped towards the black cat and tackled Her to the ground, rubbing his cheeks all over the black cat in sheer joy and happiness.
The cat’s body shivered, and She got angry, She slapped the little fox, and then she got up. The fox’s smile never faded away from his face.
Days went by and seasons changed, the fox and the cat stayed together under the same roof. They slept together, ate together, talked together, and surely enough they grew closer one to another.
The black fox became dependant on the black cat, he found himself lost and confused without her around. When She Was around him, he felt joy and happiness, he found himself gazing at the black cat for days on end without tiredness. Which was something that the black cat found weird; She even asked him about it, but he refused to give an answer.
One day the black fox and the black cat went to gather some fruit from the forest when they came up against the friends of the black cat. This wasn’t the first time that the black fox had met the friends of the black cat, but nonetheless they never left a good impression on him.
When the cat was around them, She smiled more, laughed more, and she acted more like Herself. Something that the fox envied. He wanted to have the same treatment as well, He wanted the cat to smile and laugh more with Him too. And soon enough the fox found himself jealous, jealous over the black cat. The fox wanted the cat to smile only at him, to hold that beautiful grin of her's only to himself.
The cat always was against this, the cat never wanted to be caged with only a single person, but the fox never understood that. His emotions were too strong, he was brainwashed by the black cat’s beauty and personality that he never imagined that the black cat never felt the same way about him...
The fox watched as the cat talked to Her friends, She was laughing like usual, but this time She Was laughing a bit too hard with one of her friends.
It was a grey looking coyote; they had known the black cat for years before the black fox had ever known the cat.
The fox was annoyed at how close the coyote was to the cat, they looked so happy while talking together, it was as if he had seen this scene somewhere else too.
It felt like if the fox disappeared today to never come back, the black cat wouldn’t really have a problem with it since she’s surrounded by the coyote and Her other friends.
The fox knew, he knew that he cared the most about the cat, so why couldn’t the cat care about him as well? Why was he the only one trying so much to gain the favour of the black cat, when the cat could get all of his for free?
The fox wondered to himself, was it because of how he looked? If he still had his beautiful white fur would the cat like him? She did imply that the fox wasn’t really her type, so it was possible...
Then what was it? Should the fox act like the coyote so he would gain the favour of the fox? Just what was the answer? The fox was ready to give up anything, EVERYTHING, just so he could be with the cat.
It wouldn’t take a genius to figure it out, even he had come to terms with it at some points. The little fox had fell in love with the black cat, and he fell hard.
When they came back home the cat noticed the fox was sad, the cat asked what was wrong, but the fox never answered, instead the fox went to a cold corner of the room, and he just laid there with his tail covering his body.
The black cat sighed while looking at the fox, She walked slowly towards him, and She laid against the fox’s back cuddling him.
The cat’s tail brushed against the fox’s nose as she asked him what’s wrong.
The fox told Her how he felt, and the cat chuckled at how silly he was, she said that She would never leave the fox for anyone else, and that She’d always be there for him.
The fox’s time had stopped. He felt warm, loved, cared for. The feeling of the heat emanating from the black cat’s body against his was comforting. The nice words the black cat said to his ears were something he had never heard before, it was soothing. For a second there, the black fox was reminded of home. He reminisced about the old days and how safe he felt.
But then.... He also remembered what happened...
The black fox never forgot how his mother had left him, and deep down he knew someday it would happen again with the black cat.
The little black fox looked at the black cat with tears streaming down his eyes. The black cat was confused at why he was crying, and she tried to comfort him but to no avail. The black fox beseeched her, to never leave him, because he could never imagine a world without the black cat in it.
The black cat had a troubled look on their face, She hesitated for bit then they told him they’d always be with him. But... with that half a second of hesitation the black fox knew it all. He foresaw his entire future in that one split second. The fox let out one single tear from his eyes and convinced himself to believe in the cat’s words. Even though he knew the cat was lying, but he wanted to enjoy the time he had with the cat, even if it was short.
Soon enough, winter came.
Snow filled the lands, and the cold had left its mark everywhere.
The black fox and the black cat sat together huddled against a campfire. they were talking and remembering the old times, laughing at how they both acted when they met each other for the first time. The black cat was hungry and so the both of them decided to go to the nearest river to catch some fish to eat!
The river was frozen because of the cold and the snow, but the black fox was able to dig a hole in the frozen river using a trick he had learned from back home.
The fox tried to impress the black cat by catching a fish straight from the river’s cold water, but what ended up happening was that the fox fell down the river and almost drowned instead.
The black cat jumped down the hole in the river to help the black fox and she succeeded in doing so. She bit him from his neck trying to get him out of the water, and when She did, she noticed the fox had clung onto a fish using his mouth.
When they got out of the river, they were both very wet and cold, but the black fox had a silly grin on his face while holding the fish in his mouth.
The black cat slapped the fox on the back of his head while asking him why he was grinning so much, the black fox didn’t say anything in return, he just chuckled instead.
Coming back to the campfire they both warmed up against it and cooked the fish. After enjoying their fill, they talked for a while before going to sleep together.
While the days passed the fox’s body grew much larger than the cat’s, so he was now almost twice her size.
The fox went to where the cat had slept and he wrapped his body around Her, warming Her up just like how she did the first time he met her.
That night the fox set his mind, tomorrow he would confess his love to the black cat.
When the next morning rolled, the birds chirped High and the sun showed down on the fox’s face.
When he woke to, the cat wasn’t there, he looked for her everywhere, but he couldn’t find Her.
The fox was anxious, he was scared, he thought the cat had left Him.
But then he heard sounds of laughter, 2 pairs of familiar voices were laughing in the distance. The fox went to investigate, and he found the cat lying next to the coyote while laughing. It looked like she was having the most fun in the world. The fox was glad that the cat was having fun, but nevertheless he felt that he wanted to be a part of it too...
It was very obvious that the cat never understood his true feelings and emotions, after all every time he tried to explain to the cat how he felt she never understood why he was so jealous.
The fox slowly retreated back to their home and waited for the Cat to come back. When She did the cat noticed that the fox was exhausted, his eyes red, his voice hoarse.
The fox asked the cat to walk with him, and so the cat complied.
They both went to a tall green hill; it was covered in snow all around and from this place they could overview the human city.
The fox sat upright looking at the city, while the cat sat next to him.
They both looked very out of place, their abyss black fur was covered by such a bright white field of snow, it felt as if they were little black drops in a sea of white.
None of them Exchanged words, the black cat confused as to why they were here. But the black fox didn’t say anything, he just looked at the city with starry eyes that looked devoid of life.
The cat asked if the fox was okay, but he never responded. His eyes were so dim, as if they were barely hanging on to reality at this point.
Sun had started to set, and the world was growing darker and so the moon had risen.
The fox gazed at the sky atop him, mesmerised by the scene.
Suddenly the fox spoke, for the first time in a while.
“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” he said to the black cat.
The cat never responded to his questions, she just stared, not at him, not at the moon, but at the snow beneath them.
“I see” he said to the black cat, but she never responded again.
They both stayed silent for a while, and then he told Her finally. He said that she probably knew, she must have known definitely, he wasn’t trying to hide it after all. He told Her that he had loved Her, ever since the start, he loved the black cat from the deepest corners of his heart.
He loved her void black fur, her sun like yellow eyes, her soft voice that would remind him of a wind sung melody.
Yet just like he had thought, the cat never spoke to him.
He looked over at the cat, his heart aching, his eyes searching for the least bit of an expression in her eyes.
But all he saw was emptiness, nothing was there. He thought he had seen fragments of contempt, hate, loathing. But he also sensed some pity and remorse. But aside from that, from his own imagination, there was nothing in those eyes, and there definitely was no love for him.
The cat never said anything to him, She gently moved from where She sat, she got up and left back to her home.
Without turning back, the cat said to him that he was welcome in their house, if he wished to return, but Sue would never share what he had wanted.
The fox didn’t say anything back to her, and instead he just looked over at the moon, oh so beautiful and oh so cruel...
The fox stayed on that hill for days, he never moved, he tried to he definitely did, but he never could. After a few days he finally managed to move going back to where the black cat lived. He wanted to see how She was doing, one last time before he left.
But when he came back, he saw what he saw, the black cat with Her friends, laughing with the owls, talking to the dogs, and smiling towards the coyote.
He understood, looking at that scene the fox understood that he never had a spot there to begin with. In an instant he questioned everything, if their time together was real.
He was sad, so he ran back to where he came from, his tears Running across his face with him at the same pace, falling down with the speed of a lightning bolt.
Why did she leave him as well? Why did no one stick to him? Why did the world treat him so, the black fox did nothing wrong so why was he being punished.
The snow fox always tried his best, ever since the start of his life he gave nothing but his all. What was his sin then? He didn’t know who to blame for his misery aside from that world, so he just blamed himself. It must’ve been him who was wrong, it must’ve been him who was not enough, such is the only answer.
Just like her, just like how his mother had left him, the cat did the same.
The fox went back to that hill, snow falling down on his back.
He cried and whaled, but then he stopped. A part of him hated the cat, but he could not blame Her. After all She never did anything wrong, she just didn’t feel the same way and She couldn’t help it.
But the sensation never left him, the sensation of being alone, the sensation of being betrayed by the whole world.
A bittersweet sensation came over the black fox as his amethyst eyes let down one last azure tear.
The black fox looked at the night’s sky, feeling jealous of the stars, there were so many, and they all fit in so perfectly. he wished that he had a place amongst them, maybe then the heavens would have mercy on his poor soul.
Deep in the snow the black fox sat, covered in the frozen ice falling from the sky. Everything was white except him, he felt out of place sitting in this heavenly white palace. Maybe if he was still the same little snow fox that clung to his mother, his fate would’ve changed?
Who knows, it was too late now after all.
The fox felt tired, his amethyst eyes felt lazy, their colour slowly fading away into a dim black.
He wanted to sleep; he deserved a rest after all.
So, the black fox closed his eyes as the snow fell on his back covering his body completely.
The fox slept; he slept so peacefully that no matter how many times the other animals tried to wake him up he wouldn’t wake up.
That night, the night’s black sky had gained a new light, a new star to light the way for every fox that suffered the same fate as he did, hoping that in the future no one ended up like him.
That night the sky gained a new star, but the earth lost one beautiful little black fox.
