SS1 0.0 – Prologue
After graduating from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, I went to join IDF and apply for sapper or combat engineer unit. The recruitment advert told me that my job as sapper would be basic sabotage, landmine planting or demining, application of explosive, breaching and opening routes, field construction, trench warfare, and operating various ground vehicles. It’s really suited my passion as fresh graduate engineer who wanted to avoid infantry job.
It’s just that I missed one but vital piece of information. Every sapper in IDF had to go through high level infantry training and became skilled rifleman who was very good at infantry job. Moreover, as one of top three students in my class, I received forced invitation to attend sniper and demolition basic course in one package.
After that, instead of putting me into regular sapper battalion, the chain command placed me into Yahalom, the most active combat engineer unit in IDF. And after my first deployment I couldn’t tell it anymore, am I infantry who did sapper job or sapper who did infantry job.

Then, time flew and after eight years of service, I had two major operations and dozens of special sapper mission under my belt. I also became sapper junior officer and led my own platoon.
It seemed before I realized it, I had fell in love with my life as sapper. Without second thought I decided to stay a bit longer in IDF. However, a hello crash thwarted my plan. Fortunately, my sapper life doesn’t end. I could continue it in another world.
Long short story, this was a story of sapper officer who voluntarily go to other world to hunt monster. My hunting team consisted of demi-human, the unwanted kind in a country under strict human supremacy. However, despite the discrimination they received, my men always gave their best to finish their mission beyond the call of duty.
