“Bloody hell, where the heck am I?”

There is a man currently standing in the middle of a forest, all confused as he looks around his surroundings.

“Have I really arrived on Earth? Just what the heck happened while I was away in other worlds? The growth of these trees around me is too abnormal, even the air... it's too fresh for a dying world!”

The place he was at wasn’t just some normal forest since the trees around him are just too big that you’d need at least ten people or more to hold hands together just for them to be able to wrap themselves around its trunks.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

The man skillfully jumped from trunk to trunk in between the trees like a ninja before arriving at the crown of one of the trees.

When the man uttered the word “Plugin” a sudden transparent rectangular hologram suddenly appeared, calmly floating before his eyes.

Containing various information about the man, which is shockingly absurd if it was seen by today’s people since some of the information listed was just too unbelievable for anyone to believe!

“Oh, this one still works. So I still managed to retain a few of my powers after coming back. It was a pity that I lost all of my properties during the transfer except for my Nimbus Cloud. Though just not sure if this is Earth or some other life planet in the Universe. Where am I at anyway?” John mumbled to himself while looking around.

With a scratch on his head, John continued, “Geez, I should just scout this place out instead of asking questions that no one will answer other than me, Nimbus!”

With a yell, a small white cloud suddenly descended from the skies and flew down toward him with a trail-like tail of cloud behind it, and John jumped on top of it just as it was about to fly past him.

Swoosh!

Then the man and cloud disappeared into the horizon!

A day later,

“We’ll I’ll be! This is Earth alright! But freaking After Earth! Like really!? A freaking zombie apocalypse!? I was even looking forward to having a meal at a freaking Jollibee after coming back!”

Frustration!

John was filled with frustration after discovering that the world had gone downhill after an apocalyptical event that happened in 2023, exactly five years ago!

Yesterday, he had traveled to some parts of the world, mostly Asia, and discovered to his horror that the land is now dominated by the walking undead!

From Japan where he initially arrived to, he flew out to Taiwan, then to Korea, and to small parts of China before flying back to his home country, the Philippines.

So far, he only saw five cities during that time, two cities in Japan and China, and one city each for Taiwan and Korea, and the Philippines on the other hand.

None!

That’s how dire the situation of the world is right now!

These monsters had pushed off the humans from on top of the food chain and replaced them, while the remaining humans that are struggling to live are now all holed up inside cities surrounded by towering walls!

Similar to the walled city on Paradis Island in the anime, Attack on Titan!

Of course, those walled cities aren’t as huge as the one in the anime as the biggest city he had seen so far only had roughly 160,000 population, and the smallest only had more or less 5,000 inhabitants.

“Man, I came back wanting to retire here on Earth, but this is what I come back to! Sheer disappointment!” John let out a forced laugh while standing in the middle of a ruined city. His presence certainly attracted some unwanted attention since there was suddenly a small group of zombies that came stumbling over towards him, wanting to have a hearty feast.

But like insects, he just sent them flying with a flick of his fingers, eventually killing them in the process as their heads burst open like watermelons!

“This situation not only sucks but is also bad news for its inhabitants since this event.. is the start of Earth slowly slipping out of this false universe. By then… it is going to be even more chaotic than it is now” John mumbled in riddles while shaking his head as he walked through the streets of the ruined city of Laoag.

“Sa Jollibee, bida ang saya!” John couldn’t help but sing the jingle song of the company when he walked past the ruined Jollibee that he had frequented when he was a kid.

“Ah memories, sweet old memories!” John had a reminiscent smile on his face.

“Even with my enhanced senses, I still can’t detect any living human beings nearby. All I hear is moaning!”

John shivered when he remembered the scene he saw a few hours earlier of a horde of zombies moaning together, and when you cover your eyes, it would almost sound like an orgy!

An orgy of meat-lusting undead!

“The civilization is f*cked up, there’s no internet, no malls, no movies, no fast foods, and no restaurants. Just what the heck did I even come back here for if these things are missing!?”

Splat!

In anger, John picked up a piece of debris from the ground and threw it at a zombie wobbling towards him and blew its head off!

He didn’t stop at only one zombie, he followed his kill with another, then another, then another until he was finally satisfied, and his anger subsided!

“Phew! I guess I’ll just treat this as a vacation while waiting for Earth to slip out”

With no one to talk to, John continued to talk to himself while walking around the ruined city like he was on some kind of a tour while he reminisced about the days when the world was still fine and dandy.

“Hmm, I wonder if my house is still intact after all these years? I guess I’ll go check it out to find out”

After over an hour of leisurely walking around the ruined city, John finally had enough of the sights and decided to visit his old home and left the city on his Nimbus Cloud.
