Heroes. The ultimate staple of good. However for this dimension that is not the case. Most, if not all the heroes here are criminals either reformed or still active. This is because of the ‘Hero Reformation Project’. A highly kept secret among the Gods.

The Hero Reformation Project consists of 3 simple steps according to God. 1) A criminal is chosen and summoned from another dimension. 2) That criminal is given powers and a ‘Hero’ title. 3) He becomes a force for good.

However, most of these ‘Heroes’ turn back to a life of crime (unsurprisingly), and die.

It was only some time until an actual ‘Hero’ appeared, and he did. “Makito Maki” a 20 year old blonde man gifted with the 2 abilities which gave him immunity to all dark afflictions as well as a massive boost to all his stats and a skill would cause a light to envelop his whole body giving him an appearance close to that of a god, while also protecting him and blinding his enemies.

Right now that man is in a dungeon called the “Brown Burrow” on a subjugation quest for a B5 rank slime as it’s slime is the quickest way to make a remedy to cure the princess of her mysterious ailment.

I wonder if the princess is ok. 

Although, He never did meet the princess, he did meet her sister [Delphina Margrift] a beautiful brown haired girl with azure blue eyes and a body that would entice most men. She was actually the one who asked him to go on this quest. He gladly accepted.

Normally something like this would be given to the adventurer’s guild, and it had been handed to them. But the only people to accept the quest was a small [C5-Rank] party called ‘Moon’s Echo’. This was mainly because was a small town, and most [S1-Rank - C5-Rank] adventurers were already on a quest.

‘Moon’s Echo’ consisted of a Brian the 15 year old, Cecil the 15 year old, and Rent the 16 year old . They were mostly strong. 

Brian was able to kill a which counted as a D1 class titan. Rent was able to conjure up to 4 fireballs at once which was quite a feat. Cecil however was pretty weak compared to them. She could only cast 5 times before running out of [MP]. 

They only kept her around as both Rent and Brian had a thing for her, and would always flirt with her; even though, she’s told them multiple times she’s not interested. She always planned on leaving the party, but with her lack of skill no other party would accept her. Not even the weakest ones.

The reason that ‘Moon’s Echo’ wasn’t on a quest is that their leader had recently died trying to kill an [B3 class] on his own, and they were debating on what quest to take next until they came upon the [B5 class] subjugation quest. But truth be told ‘Moon’s Echo’ was only a [C5-Rank] party because of their leader’s leadership. Without him they were as uncoordinated as a drunk man on .

The King also decided to assign a knight to help with the quest; however, most of his trusted men were already busy trying to stop an at the town’s borders. So the King decided to go himself much to the dismay of most of the royal staff. 

That was until Delphina told him that the Hero would go on the quest instead of him. After a lot of arguing the King finally consented ,and the Hero set off with the party ‘Moon’s Echo’.

Currently Maki and his party were descending down the mossy cracked cobbled stairs of the dungeon to the fourth floor. They had previously cleared the last three floors with much ease. Not because of Maki’s leadership ,but with his overpowered strength. He easily slashed his way through the hordes of goblins and slimes without even breaking a sweat.

When they finally reached the ninth floor they were greeted with a very foul odour. As soon as they stepped onto the fourth floor they could see what looked like months of dried up blood and slime.

“Ugh… This place really is messy ,and smelly.”, Maki said while holding his nose with his two fingers.

“Yeah, what even is this shit? It fucking smells worse than the last floor.”, Brian screamed as he sniffed the nearby wall.

“If I remember correctly the ninth floor is used mostly for goblin mating.“, Rent said as he pushed Brian’s face into the wall.

“AHHHH… EW EW EW FUCKING GROSS. I THINK SOMES IN MY FUCKING MOUTH”, Brian yelled as he frantically wiped every part of his face.

“Guys! Keep it down! There are still monsters here.”, Cecil whispered.

“Yeah Brian! Keep it down” Rent said in a taunting tone.

“BUT YOU - Grr… Fine. Just for you Cecil!” Brian said with a wink.

“Hey guys let’s focus. This slime looks fresh. I think the monster’s close.”, Maki said. “Now then Cecil stick close to me.”

“Okay.”

“ZIP IT YOU TWO I’M THE OLDEST AND THE HERO SO I DECIDE!”, Maki yelled as he struck his sword in the ground for dramatic effect.

Cecil happily stayed close to Maki as it was a change of scenery from all the awkward flirting and fighting between Brian and Rent. That is until Maki started some flirting of his own with lines such as: “You smell nice today.”, “I think I see a gem. No wait those are just your eyes.”, and other shitty garbage.

You see… Maki’s crime was . They both did it consensually, but somehow the girl’s parents found out ,and reported him. He did have a fetish for teenage girls though. It was actually the main reason why he accepted the quest in the first place as the princess would become indebted to him, and do anything he asked. Anything… , but other than his want for minors he was a decent guy (*cough* like most isekai heroes *cough*).

After following the trail of fresh slime they came face to face with it (well a slime doesn’t exactly have a face does it. It could be a butt for all I care.) It was a large pink slime, It was as tall as an average human, but it was very “robust” (even slimes have feelings >.< ) 

It was currently engaged with another adventurer. They were dressed in normal adventurer clothes ,and wielded a sword along with a dagger that was currently sheathed in their right belt. They were pretty far so it was pretty hard to see if it was a he or a she.

Seeing the slime. Everyone readied their weapons ready to fight. Brian with his dual swords, Rent with his torch and staff, Cecil with her sword ,and Maki with his spear. Maki had a peculiar spark in his eye as he said “Status.”

He recently levelled up on the fifth floor, and gained the [Charge] Skill, apparently this skill would give the user tremendous speed while also boosting his attack. With this skill he would definitely hit the slime’s core and kill it. Impressing Cecil, and the possible adventurer girl.

Readying himself. He took a stance. He then yelled to the top of his voice “CHARGEEEEEEE.”, and he dashed forward with incredible speed. Hitting the slime’s core with a large “THUNK”, flawlessly taking it down. 

The adventurer girl then ran towards him kissing him after saying “My Hero!” Which made all of them blush. Maki did it. He became a Hero, and from now on he would become the world’s best hero.

If that attack actually worked. You see… one of the main reasons why Heroes die is that they put too much faith in the title of a , and end up overestimating their abilities since “Hey I’m a Hero theres no fucking way that I’d lose.”

There are a number of factors to put into Maki’s death. 1) He never researched slimes to know [B5 Class] or higher slimes had a body made of all acidic goop, and could control their membrane expertly. 2) He never tried out the [Charge] skill before and it ended up being too strong. 3) He’s a fucking idiot. 4) He fucking missed the core.

What actually happened was that Maki with his [Charge] skill ran into the slime ,and was then quickly digested as he was completely submerged in the slime, leaving only his armour and weapon inside the slime. There weren’t even any noises as Maki died as when he opened his mouth his vocal cords melted. It would be wishful thinking that Maki had died from drowning in slime, but the truth was clear.

It was a horrifying sight. All the members of ‘Moon’s Edge’ dropped their weapons, shaking and quivering on the spot. They had never really seen a person die before, and what they just saw was more gruesome than the average death.

The slime seeing an opportunity to feed. Switched opponents, and started heading towards the party. Rent was the first to fall as he was hit by an [Acid Blast] in the face that quickly dissolved his face and skull.

“No no no no. TAKE HER NOT ME!”, Brian yelled as he frantically pushed Cecil towards the slime before scurrying off like a coward. The slime then used , and started to produce smaller baby slimes which all went towards the adventurer. It then started to advance on Cecil.

Slimes are slow creatures that are easy to outrun, but Cecil was still in shock so she froze. When she finally snapped, it was too late as the slime had reached her and began to slowly digest her. Firstly her right arm began to slowly dissolve, along with her right foot. 

Cecil would’ve been fully eaten if not for the adventurer who quickly pulled her away from the slime.

He (who was previously thought to be a she) then proceeded to carry Cecil away from the slime, until they were at the ninth floor entrance. He then quickly threw Cecil down on the ground ,and doused her with a liquid that seemed to stop her wounds from dissolving any further. 

He then ran back towards the slime, with a club in his hand. He then proceeded to engage in combat with it. Dodging, hitting, and damaging the slime. But the slime was obviously more powerful. It released a barrage of which mostly hit the adventurer.

With most of his clothes dissolving he quickly doused himself in what seemed to be before getting back up. All was not going according to the adventurer’s plan. He’d made so many preparations that weakened the slime, but since it just feasted on a it was stronger than ever, maybe even close enough to becoming a [B3 rank].

He then realised that the Hero didn’t die in vain! His death could actually help him. He quickly opened two , and doused both his arms and hands in them. Afterwards he proceeded to run towards the slime, before stopping right in front of it.

He reached inside of it for the spear, and he had to do it quickly as the slime was slowly moving up his arms, and towards his legs. When he finally reached the spear he began to stab the slime core, and after a few quick stabs the slime core cracked a little causing the slime to recoil in pain.

As soon as the adventurer saw this he pulled out a purple crystal attached to his belt, and shoved it into the slime. The slime then began to gurgle, and soon it exploded with a loud “SPLAT”.

“Jesus… That fucking dude screwed everything up! And why does he appear now? Not when I was fucking summoned here. I mean Why the fuck did I have to be summoned in a dungeon? Not a town, Not a village, I’d even take a fucking toilet!”

This is our protagonist. [Fujii Yosai] a summoned person, who did not get the role of hero.
