Chapter 2 Teeko and friends

The standing in front of the grey stone white brick church I awkwardly shuffle my feet. Watching players walking around, wearing various sets of armour and robes, clearly outclassing my own, I feel a light tap on my shoulder.

“Hey Julian!”

I spin around.

Standing before me is a man with wings tapering from where his arms are supposed to be with a fan shaped tail protruding from his back, the feathers maroon at the quill slowly transitioning into a vibrant red. His legs, changed into the legs of a bird. His chest and head still like a man’s, He must have chosen to be an ava.

“Hi~” I croak.

“It’s me! Lewis.”

His face looks somewhat alike to what he looks like in real life, but more rounded and younger. He also has muscles.

“Since when did you have a six pack?” I question.

Lewis makes several hand gestures

From: TeekoDude, don’t say that stuff out loud, you might get banned and what do you mean about my six pack? I always had it.

Bullshit.

“How do I message you back?”

“Wow really?” He jokes. “Do this.”

Lewis holds out his right wing and swipes across the air.I follow suit. A small bell rings as I do so.

Okay let’s see; inventory, stats, skills, messaging options and logout. Seems simple enough.

My finger lightly presses against the hologram as if it were a real screen. More options appear.

MessagesInboxComposeReplydelete

I press the reply button. A blank window comes up.

How do I type?

‘How do I type?’ appears on the blank window.

Ah ok, I just have to think up the message.

[tr]

To: TeekoWhatever, anyway who are those guys behind you?

I size up the three people behind him. A female human dressed in very similar clothes to mine. Brown hair and cute freckles, a beefy male orc with his black hair tied back in a ponytail and a male elf, his ears in the classic pointed shape and sporting a long brown robe that reaches down to his feet.

All of them look like they had just started as well.

“Oh these are some of my friends”

He gestures at the orc first, his name hovering above his head.

“This is Corvus, he will be our frontline tank swordsman guy”

“Hello”

Corvus simply nods.

Next is the elf.

“Our mage, Leaf.”

We shake hands.

“And finally this is…”

“Hi!” she interrupts “I’m Beatrice!”

“Beatrice?”

The name above her head does say Beatrice, but the name is surprisingly normal.

“Yes, Beatrice!”

“She is our marksman.” Lewis suddenly cuts back in.

He then looks me up and down.

“Human huh? I thought you would have picked orc or something. Oh well.”

I shrug.

“So what are your stats like?” He asks.

“I’ll check now.”

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

I read out the contents to Lewis.

“That’s it?” He asks “Here let me check.”

He pokes a finger square on my chest, his eyes analysing my stat window when it pops up. He bursts out laughing.

“Wow, I thought you were joking.” He giggles “The only thing you have that is any good is your aim stat and your cooking and craft skills, besides aim, my stats are like double yours.

No way.

I then press my finger on his chest and check his stats, his skills are shown below his stats too. What Lewis said was true.

“How come?” I ask, slightly annoyed

“Your beginning stats are adjusted when you calibrate. You also get skills too, for example your cooking level is fourteen and your craft level is twenty. The game takes into account what you are like outside.”

That’s a little unfair, yeah I may not be a weight lifter or a marathon runner, but this is ridiculous. At least my cooking skills and craft skills translate into the game. Several years of living essentially on my own forced me to learn.

“Alright, well I guess we are just going to have to have you in the back line for a while until your stats are higher.” Lewis declares.

“And you can cook for us!” Beatrice interjects.

“Yeah that too… Anyway I’ll just add you to my guild now.

Teeko has invited you to ‘Teeko and friends’ Do you accept?

“Teeko and friends?”

“What? I was lacking in inspiration.”

“Told you it was a terrible name.” Corvus grumbles.

“Whatever, I accept”

You are now a member of ‘Teeko and friends’

“Alright! Let’s get out there then!”

I follow the group through the huge gate letting us out of the outer wall of Lorburn. A message appears as my feet step onto the wild grass.

[tr]You are now leaving Lorburn and entering Sunlight Plains.

I take out the basic sword from my inventory.

Basic sword equipped.
