Viktor shuddered at the connotations of this message, had they kept someone else down here, was it a lead on the strange thoughts and memories in his head? He did not know, but he knew he needed to find out, something within screamed at him that he needed to know.
So this prompted Viktor's first rebellion against his family, he began to make a life. But for his own purpose.
Victor began to simultaneously create whilst growing the moss around him with mana. He began by creating a small skeletal system out of cartilage before fleshing it out with organs and musculature, creating stronger muscles on the creatures back, he then infused veins and blood into the creature, forcing mana into the being's blood gave it an unnatural strength and endurance for its size. He then crafted small insectoid limbs and a head dominated by a proboscis and a set of compound eyes.
Viktor examined his first ever creation. It was a small, insectoid creature covered from head to toe in a pale leathery skin with large bulging veins sticking out along its form. He grimaced at how horrific the creature was, it was about the size of a normal fly but instead of the fury exterior, it looked more like an eldritch horror made of a patchwork of flesh. Viktor smiled, it was his eldritch horror and he felt a strange affection for the little monster. He attributed the smoothness of his first creation to the hours of anatomy lessons he had been forced to sit through, yet he had still had to feel his way through most of that. His shook his metaphorical head, creation was hard.
Luckily though the creature was alive and barring any errors with its organs it would continue to be so. He sent it to the moss he had been growing progressively over the course of a few hours. The dark green moss now covered the entire floor and was littered with white flowers. He sent the fly to the task of consuming the nectar, as he made more he found that the process was much quicker now as he now had a basic floor plan of what his flies should look like. And after an indeterminable amount of time had passed the new eldritch, fleshy flys were buzzing around the beautiful carpet of vegetation, feeding on the flowers. It gave the room a forbidden garden-like feel.
Viktor than tested something, he reached out to several of the flies with his mana, pushing it into them and as he had expected, his consciousness overwrote theirs. Perfect.
He let the flies feed for about another hour and watched with great pleasure as they created a nest in one the ceiling corners of the rooms. It seemed they had the ability to regurgitate a living biological matter from the proboscises which they used to make their fleshy, pulsating lair.
Viktor took control of his 33 flies and made them into a sort of autonomous hive mind with him at the centre, he then sent them out of the room and into the town.
For the first time in his memory, Viktor left the confines of the basement and entered a room the voices in his head knew as a tavern. Here the smell of liquor was pungent and several of his brothers were passed out around the room. He continued onward, leaving the tavern and entering into the open air.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Viktor sent one fly into the air to give a bird's eye view of the town's makes up whilst he sent the others to explore the town at the street level. The town of Heimlenstadt was circular in form with a palisade of wooden stakes ringing the small township. Outside the walls, the village seemed to be a haven, a small pocket of civilisation surrounded by dense forest. On the inside however it was so much worse.
From what both his flies among the town and the one above it were telling him his brothers seemed to be running the town as several of them were pushing around bands of people all chained together. These people were forced to work for, to cook for and to entertain his brothers.
Viktor saw the fat man walking with purpose toward the centre of town before entering into one of the largest building, he sent several flies to slip under the rough door for the purpose of eavesdropping.
The fat man being tailed by the flies entered into a vast opening hall that seemed to stretch at least two floors high and was made almost entirely of wood from the local forest. The fat man then proceeded to walk to one of the staircases at the edge of the hall before climbing it to the second floor. The wooden planks bent under his weight with each step.
When there he angrily swung open one of the doors and stormed in. Viktor followed.
Once inside he was met with a strange scene. The fat man and the small one from his birth were there along with his father, Franz.
It was at this point that he noticed the main problem with his flies, he hadn't given them ears. As such he was forced to attempt lip readings on each member present with only one fly. He was only able to catch snippets of their conversation.
"What ... Durvald doing here!" Yelled the fat man angrily whilst pointing toward the smaller one.
This was followed by some words by Viktor's father that Viktor missed and then several placating hand gestures.
"No, I will not ... Down Buralag! Why ... I just find out ... They almost here!" Yelled the fat man toward Viktor's father.
"Calm ... Cursac. We ... Under control. All I need to do ... Accelerate the dungeon project."
Viktor heard no more, he was to busy reeling from what he had learnt. The man he knew as Franz was in fact known as Buralag, he had been lied to. Viktor fumed, he hated being tricked, it was just something intrinsic that both he and the voices in his head agreed on.
With both this, his false memories dislike toward his brothers and the scratchings on the walls, Viktor was beginning to believe that this wasn't the only thing he had been lied to about. He needed to find out more, and he had just the plan to do it. He rubbed his metaphorical hands together with anticipation.
