S1:C3

Waking up to a white ceiling, Tet stretched in bed, and every joint snapped with a satisfying sound. He groaned and looked to his side, where Mawile lay beside him.

It had been a hectic day yesterday. They received help from the Pokémon Center thanks to Brock, and as a result, both Mawile and the egg were treated along with himself.

Afterward, they requested an ID, which he couldn't provide. When asked for his name, they couldn't find any matches in their database, except for two entries with the same name but different everything, clearly not him. They asked him where he came from this time, he said the Philippines which wasn't really a place in the world of Pokémon. He gave an excuse, claiming he did not know how he got here or where he was, which was technically correct.

Nurse Joy told him that she had contacted the police for assistance in his situation, but it was getting late, so they postponed it until tomorrow. Tet was given a room on the 2nd floor of the building to sleep for the night.

Tet lay there, his mind racing with thoughts on how to navigate his current situation. He contemplated whether he should divulge anything about his origin, wondering if these people, despite their apparent kindness, could be trusted with such sensitive information. As he pondered further, a nagging doubt crept in – had his mind already been scanned by a Psychic Pokémon, and if so, was that even legal? These concerns gnawed at him, but he recognized the need for an ID to move forward. With a determined resolve, he began devising a plan to obtain one, weighing the options available and the potential risks involved.

"Maw?" asked the Pokémon beside him, sounding worried as Tet frowned. "I'm fine, just thinking," he said with a gentle smile, assuring her that he was okay.

"We should get up soon and get everything over with," Tet said as he got up to prepare and change clothes. His belongings were quite torn up, except for the bag, which was merely dirty. The Pokémon Center provided him with some second-hand clothes, mostly from previous trainers who had used the room and left their clothing behind. Although second-hand, the clothes were clean and of decent quality, as they came from trainers who traveled extensively, and the quality of their attire had to match their active lifestyle.

"Not bad," Tet mumbled as he looked at the mirror, a black-haired 19-year-old teen was there, posing. Seems like I was transported and not reincarnated, seeing as it's my own body I'm looking at. But my hair's gotten longer though so maybe I aged a little? I guess it looks good; maybe I'll keep it this way.

He was wearing a yellow jacket over a white shirt with black jeans. The Pokémon Center didn't have spare shoes, only brown slippers, so Tet had to make do with them, which he didn't mind. He was already very grateful that they had given him anything at all.

Putting on his teal backpack, he motioned for Mawile to follow, and they went downstairs. He sees Nurse Joy and motions to greet her when he spots a group at the door.

"Hey, Tet! Are you okay now?" Ash asks as he walks toward Tet, followed by the group behind him. Brock, May, and Max greet Tet in turn. "Sorry we didn't properly introduce ourselves yesterday, but I'm Ash Ketchum! Nice to meet you again!" Ash says good-naturedly, offering a handshake.

"Pikachu!" says Pikachu on Ash's shoulder.

"I'm May Powers, and this is Max Powers; we're siblings," says May as she points to Max.

"I can introduce myself!" says Max, giving May a slight glare. "Anyways, I'm Max. Nice to meet you!"

"And I'm Brock Harrison. Nice to meet you again," says Brock, smiling.

"Uh, I'm Tet Dagon. Nice to meet you," Tet says, then points at Mawile. "And this is Mawile. You've met her before."

"Mawile!" says Mawile, raising her right hand and grinning. Pikachu looked at Mawile, and they high-fived.

"That we did. Nice to meet you, Mawile," Brock greets, followed by the rest of the group.

Tet talks with them for a while, learning that the cave he and Mawile first camped in was the Granite Cave and that they were looking for an elite trainer there, Steven Stone.

Steven, huh? Maybe I can ask him for help regarding my situation. He seemed trustworthy in the anime and games. Wait, is he even the Champion right now? "Do you mean Steven Stone, the Hoenn Champion?" asks Tet to the group, earning him confused looks.

"Champion?! He was?!" Ash exclaims, shocked to find out that the man he was normally conversing with was the Hoenn Champion.

"What?! No no, he isn't," Brock quickly steps in, correcting the misinformation. "How did you come up with that idea? The current Champion is Wallace," he says exasperatedly.

Tet scratches his head, embarrassed. "Oh, no reason, hahaha."

"What, he wasn't?" Ash visibly deflates, his earlier excitement gone. "Pikapi~" Pikachu, mirroring his trainer.

"Sorry, I must have gotten it mixed up," Tet chuckles. "But he must be a strong trainer, right? To be called an Elite Trainer."

"Yeah! He beat Team Rocket with his Aggron using only a single move, Hyper Beam!" says Max excitedly, pushing up his glasses.

"Team Rocket?" Tet mumbles. So they're here too, makes sense.

Ash, hearing Tet's mumble, frowns. "They're no good thieves that steal Pokémon! They've been trying to steal Pikachu ever since back in Kanto! You should keep an eye out for them."

"I see, I'll watch out then, thanks for the warning," responds Tet.

"Yeah, they're a bad bunch. On another topic, have you figured out why you woke up in the middle of the forest? That could have been seriously bad." says Brock in a worried tone, wondering how someone would end up in that situation.

Should I answer honestly? Maybe give a little, they did really help me out a lot. "No, I have no clue, really. One moment I'm in my room sleeping, the next moment I wake up inside a Seviper's nest in a forest," Tet said, sighing.

"Maybe it was a Psychic Pokémon?" Ash said. "Me and Brock were teleported by a Psychic Pokémon before, though not to a faraway place; it was inside a dollhouse."

"Yeah, I remember that," said Brock with a grimace.

"A dollhouse?!" exclaimed May, excited at the prospect of being inside a dollhouse.

"How big was that dollhouse to be able to fit you guys?!" Max, too, was quite stunned, thinking about how big the dollhouse had to be.

"No, it was a literal dollhouse! We were just tiny. I don't know how she did that," Ash said as he scratched his head.

Before the topic could veer any further, Tet decided to speak. "So, what you're saying is I might have gotten teleported by a Psychic Pokémon?"

"Maybe, you wouldn't be the first; it has happened to many. It's actually quite common. Lots of trainers find themselves in another place if they upset a Psychic Pokémon, though not that far away that they get lost," Max said, showing Tet the results of his Pokénav statistic search for the related subject. "Wait, where were you from again? I don't think we've asked," Max asked.

"This... It's a sensitive matter. I'm actually scheduled to go to the Police Station today about my situation," Tet scratched his head. He still wasn't really sure how to bring up the subject of him not being from this dimension. Should I just come clean? Lying and then being found out later could turn bad, so should I just tell the truth? But to whom... Telling any common Joe isn't going to cut it; I know that much.

Noticing that Tet paused for a few seconds, May said in a concerned tone. "Hey, you don't have to tell us if it bothers you that much. Don't worry about it."

"Yeah, and if you need help, just ask. We might have just met yesterday but we'll be willing to help if we can," said Brock.

These guys are really nice. I guess it makes sense; they wouldn't be that successful in Pokémon rearing if they weren't good-natured people. "Uh, thanks. It's okay really, I'm not in trouble, at least I hope so. I'll tell you guys the next time we meet, and hopefully, everything will be resolved by then," Tet said with a tired smile.

"Good luck then! And just as Brock said, we'll help you if we can, I might not look much but I'm a sponsored trainer, by Prof. Oak himself." Ash says proudly, realizing how obnoxious he sounded blushed and quickly said. "I meant, I can ask Professor Oak for help, I'm pretty sure he would be interested, seeing as you probably got sent here by a psychic Pokemon, and over a long distance at that."

"I see, maybe I'll take you up on that offer later, thank you. But, I have to go now sadly, me and Mawile were just about to head out," Tet said.

"Okay! Good luck with that Tet! Oh and! If you decide to ask for help, just call me on the Video Phone," Ash says, pointing to the back secluded area of the room.

"Uhm, I'm gonna sound like a total country bumpkin here, but how do I contact you using that?" Tet said with a blush. "I mean, I know it'll be like a video call just from the name alone, but how do I call you specifically? Do I need your number?"

"You haven't used a Video Phone before?" asked Brock. Tet shook his head, meaning no. "Well, you just need to type in a name, and any Trainer registered in the local Pokémon League should appear. There will be a picture to the side of the names, so if you look up a name with multiple matches, look at the pictures or other details such as hometown, etc. Click that and choose the call option. As we will be traveling most of the time, we probably can't answer that call. In that situation, you should write an email or leave a recording instead. Hope that helped."

"Yes, that was very helpful, thanks again," Tet then waved goodbye, Mawile walking right beside him waving too.

"We won't hold you up then, good luck," Brock waved back, the rest of the group following right after. "We'll be leaving today; hope we meet again, Tet!" said Ash in a final goodbye.

"Yeah, bye!" said Tet, smiling as they both walked out of the chapel-shaped building and into the streets of Dewford Town.

Mawile and Tet, both in good spirits, strolled through the town towards the Police Station. However, Tet couldn't help but feel a sense of uncertainty looming over him. The prospect of facing the authorities weighed on his mind, casting a shadow over his mood.

As they walked, they noticed that it was still early morning, and most of the stalls in the town were in the process of being set up. Middle-aged men were diligently assembling the roofs of their stalls, positioning them strategically to shield their wares from the morning sun. The town was slowly coming to life, and Tet couldn't help but appreciate the bustling energy of the place, even as he grappled with his own concerns.

During their walk, some friendly townsfolk noticed Tet and Mawile and greeted them with waves, to which Tet and Mawile warmly reciprocated. The friendly gestures from the locals brought a faint smile to Tet's face, momentarily easing his concerns. They continued their stroll and after a few more minutes of walking, they reached the Police Station. The building stood as a single-story structure, prominently adorned with a calming shade of blue. Above the double glass doors, a gleaming golden star served as a symbol, signifying justice and order within the community. Tet took a deep breath and exchanged a reassuring glance with Mawile before stepping inside, ready to address his uncertain situation with the authorities.

Stepping inside, Tet and Mawile were greeted by the steady hum of a fan circulating air and the rhythmic sound of keyboards being typed on. A male officer stationed at the front desk noticed them and kindly waved them over, indicating for them to come closer. With a deep breath, Tet approached the officer.

"Good morning, officer. I'm Tet Dagon, and I'm here to, uh, clarify my situation," Tet stammered nervously, the anxiety in his voice more apparent than he had hoped. I look really sketchy now, you idiot! He berated himself internally, wondering why he was feeling so uneasy.

"You don't have to be so nervous, kid. Just give me a moment, and I'll search for your case," the officer said reassuringly, raising a brow at Tet's anxiety. He typed on his computer while muttering "Tet Dagon" repeatedly until he found what he was looking for. "Ah, it looks like you have a visitor. Follow me for a moment," the officer added, gesturing for Tet to follow him.

Tet glanced at Mawile, his confusion mirroring in the Pokémon's eyes. He couldn't think of who his visitor might be. After all, he was certain that no one in this unfamiliar world knew him. Unless I actually was transmigrated and not teleported? Did I unknowingly steal a person's body? One that is very similar to mine? I hope that isn't the case, the idea of stealing another's life really puts a bad taste in my mouth.

"We're here, go inside," the officer instructed, and Tet thanked him for his guidance. He took hold of the doorknob, turning it to push open the door, and stepped into the room.

Tet paused, taking in the unexpected sight before him. To his surprise, the room wasn't the sterile, white-walled space he had anticipated. Instead, it resembled a regular office, complete with a table and a few couches. However, what made him stop in his tracks was the person sitting on one of those couches.

"Professor Oak?" Tet asked, his voice uncertain and filled with surprise.

The familiar face of Professor Oak looked up at Tet and offered a warm smile. "Oh? It looks like you already know who I am. That makes things easier," he remarked with a chuckle.

"Come, sit. We have much to discuss," he invited, pointing towards the couch in front of him. Tet, still taken aback by the unexpected encounter, hesitated for a moment before joining the professor. The mystery surrounding his situation had just deepened, and he was eager to hear what Professor Oak had to say.

Mawile followed her human closely and settled onto Tet's lap as he sat down. Professor Oak couldn't help but smile, observing the bond between the two.

"Now, I know you must have a lot of questions, but let us introduce ourselves properly first," Professor Oak began. "I am Samuel Oak, and you may refer to me as Professor Oak or Samuel, whichever suits your fancy. I am a Pokémon Professor who lives and works at my research lab, located in Pallet Town of the Kanto region."

He then looked at Tet, indicating that it was Tet's turn to introduce himself.

"I, um, I'm Tet Dagon, a college student majoring in computer science," Tet replied nervously. "Honestly, I'm not quite sure how I ended up here." He paused, gathering his thoughts. "I'm also really grateful to your sponsored trainer, Ash Ketchum, and his group. They helped me out a lot when I was..." Tet's voice trailed off momentarily. "Please, pass on my thanks to them," he said in a genuinely thankful tone.

"They did? I'll definitely let them know," Oak responded, pleased that his sponsored trainer was making a positive impact and helping others.

"Now, where was I? Ah, yes, about how you ended up here. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure either," Tet's expression mirrored his surprise as Professor Oak shared his own uncertainty. However, Oak quickly shifted the conversation to a topic that piqued Tet's interest.

"But I do have some information to start you with understanding how you landed here. You see, I got to know of you through Mew. Do you know Mew?" Oak inquired, lowering his voice to a hushed tone. "Oh, and, I would like you to keep it to yourself about what we're going to discuss today."

Tet quickly glanced around the room, instinctively feeling that discussing legendary Pokémon in such an open setting was unwise. However, Oak seemed to anticipate his concern and reassured him.

"Don't worry," Professor Oak chuckled. "No one will be able to listen to us. I had Alakazam check for any wiring and set up a barrier to prevent sounds from going out."

Tet felt a wave of relief wash over him as he realized their conversation was indeed private. He said, "Yes, I know about Mew. Do you think it was Mew who sent me here professor?"

F*ck, why did I admit to knowing a legendary Pokémon Tet cursed inwardly, realizing he might have revealed too much by admitting his knowledge of a legendary Pokémon. His initial ease had made him slip up, and he chided himself for getting too comfortable.

Despite Tet's internal turmoil, Oak continued, seemingly understanding the young man's unease.

"It's good that you know; it saves us some explanations. I won't pry into how you've come to learn about Mew or where you're from. I would appreciate it, though, if you could learn to trust me and share more about yourself in the future. Just take your time," Oak said, his warm smile attempting to ease Tet's nerves.

"As for your question, I don't have a definite answer. While it's theoretically possible, Mew isn't known for casually teleporting people to unfamiliar places. In fact, most people don't know much about Mew at all," Oak chuckled lightly, trying to lighten the mood. He then cleared his throat, becoming more serious.

"Ahem, sorry. As I was saying, Mew ran off before I could ask for more details. The carefree Pokémon simply communicated to me telepathically about a 19-year-old boy named Tet, who got teleported to Dewford. That's you. Mew asked for my help in getting you settled down. That's basically all the information I have," Oak explained, his tone thoughtful and reassuring.

"That's it?" Tet asked, confused.

"Yes," Oak continued, addressing the unspoken question in Tet's mind. "You might ask why I would agree to such vague information and orders, but I've learned that it isn't wise to disregard a Legendary's words, especially not one known for its kindness."

He paused, his gaze fixed on Tet with a reassuring sincerity. "You might have an intended purpose with Mew in the future, or maybe not. Perhaps Mew simply wanted to help a young person stranded in an unknown place. Interpret it however you will, but please know that I'm here to assist you. So, don't worry too much about it."

Tet felt a sense of relief and gratitude wash over him. Despite the uncertainties that still surrounded his situation, he was beginning to feel a glimmer of hope that he wouldn't have to face them alone.

"Mew wouldn't have helped a bad person, so I am willing to vouch for you," Professor Oak continued, his conviction evident. Mawile nodded in agreement, reinforcing the professor's assessment.

Tet looked at both Professor Oak and Mawile, a genuine sense of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you," he said sincerely. "I really didn't know what I was going to do."

Professor Oak smiled warmly in response, appreciative of Tet's words. However, he couldn't help but express his concern.

"Are you okay, though?" he asked cautiously. "About suddenly being taken away from home? You seem remarkably composed for someone who was kidnapped and transported to an unknown place."

Yeah, now that I think about it, why am I so accepting of my situation? shouldn't I be more angry and concerned... yet, why do I feel so excited instead?

Tet's response held a note of honesty as he reflected on his situation. "I... I didn't really have much going for me back home. I'm worried about my parents and how they must feel about their son suddenly disappearing. But other than my parents, I don't have any other regrets about leaving," he admitted, the words flowing as though he were talking to himself more than answering the professor.

Professor Oak nodded understandingly, recognizing the complex mix of emotions Tet must be experiencing. The uncertainty of his future and the concern for his family weighed heavily on him, but it was also clear that he was ready to embrace the new opportunities and challenges this world had to offer. The path ahead was still unclear, but Tet had taken the first steps in forging his own destiny.
