Blake Shadow was a boy who truly lived up to his surname.

He was sadly, a side character. He had never been in the spot light, instead he is always in the shadows made from that bright light.

This does not particularly bother him though, in fact he is quite happy with his situation. He's in a happy family with two happy parents that have a happy marriage, he's a single child that has a slightly above average marks. But he does excel in almost all and any type of sport.

It doesn't matter what Blake does, if it's a physical activity he will learn it quickly and master it even quicker. But there is one strange thing that came attached with his ability.

It doesn't matter how well he does it, or how he does it. People never seem to notice him, no matter how strong the light he produces. He will always be overshadowed by something.

So to stop from causing himself grief, Blake never truly tries his hardest in sports. He will only try to do it average at best.

Despite being a complete and utter side character, Blake is living a happy school life. In his high school he is only a year away from graduating, and he is apart of what you could call the 'cool group' of his school.

In this 'cool group' is the man that always steals the spotlight from him, Jake Light. This pretty boy is great at sports (though not nearly as good as Blake) and excels in academics. He's the dream boyfriend of every girl in their high school and is what you could call a 'male idol'. The girls also think that he's cute with his very strong sense of justice.

One of the girls of this group is called Ayame Shizuki, she's a girl with Asian and english heritage. With her blonde hair and blue eyes, she is the dream of every-boy in their school. She assumes the position the their schools 'princess', she's also very timid and nice to everyone, making everybody adore her.

The other boy of this group is called Harry White, he is the best friend of Jake. He possesses natural slick black hair and has a lean build, he's also the basket ball team captain of their school. He's even a kind person that has never known to boast.

This brings us to the final girl of the group, a girl called Aya Sona. She's the best friend of Ayame and is the leader of the disciplinary committee. With her long black hair that reaches her waist, slim figure, tall height and harsh rule over the delinquents of this school. She's the idol of all the females of the school who call her 'big sis'.

And we have reached Blake, he has a standard look apart part from his striking Crimson red hair that covers his dark brown and even almost black eyes. With an average height for a 16 (almost 17) year old, and an incredibly toned and muscular body hidden beneath his baggy clothing. Average looks, not ugly but not quite handsome. Despite his striking red hair, people see him as the epitome of average.

Many people wonder why Blake is in the popular group. Hell, even Blake himself wonders that often. The reason has always been a mystery, and will probably remain one for the rest of time.

As of now the group were talking before their english class.

Jake: "Hey Harry, how's the basket ball team holding up? They nervous about the upcoming game?"

Harry: "Nah don't worry bro, I've got'em all revved up and ready to go kick some Ouran high-school butt!"

Jake: "Sweet, I love watching you guys shred up the competition! States is probably not a far off dream at the moment right?"

Harry: "Nah Jake, don't wanna get full of myself right now. Might jinx myself."

Harry: "hehe, hey Aya, what's 10+9?"

Aya: "say it and I'll hang you from the flag pole Harry."

Blake: "Woah, calm down Aya. The last time you did that to him he snapped the pole!"

Ayame: "I'll never know how you managed to snap a thick steel pole though Harry."

Aya: "it's 'cos this fat ass could beat an elephant in an eating contest."

All: "hehehe"

Harry: "heh, that's harsh."

Jake: "come now guys, we shouldn't pick on our friends!"

Ayame: "Jakes right you two, it's not nice."

Blake/Aya: "Yes mrs Light"

Ayame blushed at this and looked at Jake, who was looking at them with a confused look on his face.

Blake: "Wow, your really dense aren't you Jake?"

Aya: "The densest"

The unbelievably dense Jake was staring at them with an even more confused look on his face. When Blake first met Jake he never thought such people even existed, he thought that they only lived in manga and light novels. So he thought that he was faking it, but he realised the truth after a few years.

'Well, if this was a light novel then we would be summoned to another world right about now' Blake thought to himself.

He waited for a bit while the other three kept on talking like he didn't exist, Blake didn't blame them for this. He was often told he had a very thin presence, so he knew that they didn't mean it.

Nothing happens, not that I expected anything to happen thought Blake.

'Well that plot has been used more times than a grove street hooker, it gets old after a certain amount of times.'

He then looked at his group of friends chatting with a smile.

'I wish this could last forever' he thought to himself.

Despite his cool attitude about his position in this world right now, at first it had been very hard. No matter how hard he tried no one would notice him, no one would ever tell him good work when he did something incredible.

Once he climbed to the top of a 20 metre rock climbing wall that was meant for professionals when he was only 9 in front of a huge crowd at a festival. But the man who was in charge of the wall just told him to get down for the other people. But when someone twice his age barely made it halfway, everybody went batshit crazy.

This repeated itself throughout his childhood, when your only a child being praised is something that every kid needs every now and then. But he got none, apart from his parents.

Blake loves his parents, they always encouraged him and praised him. They realised his predicament and gave their best effort to fill up the gaps in his life. It wasn't enough for the most of it, but Blake has always treasured them in his heart for trying so hard for him anyway.

Blake unconsciously smiled as he thought of his parents, but then in front of his eyes. A large symbol glowed mid air in the middle of his class room, others started noticing the strange symbol with the strange language too.

Then the symbol changed from its blue hue to blinding light. And the students disappeared.
